Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Your Wife, Wren Wynter

Wren Wynter stared at Kaden Xavier’s departing back, finally letting out a long, heavy sigh.

’Finally, I can get a divorce.’

The next morning, Wren Wynter got dressed, ready to attend a medical conference.

She had two tickets, one of which she gave to Ho-ran Park.

She wore a pale yellow long dress that made her skin look even fairer. Her chestnut-brown curls were tied up in a high ponytail, and she wore light makeup.

Kaden Xavier hadn’t returned home last night. ’He probably went to find Seraphina Sutton.’

’It made sense. After being rebuffed by me, he would of course need to find his precious darling to soothe his wounded ego.’

Wren Wynter didn’t pay it much mind. She went downstairs, planning to get a cab to the conference.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw a familiar car parked outside the villa.

Kaden Xavier was in the driver’s seat, and beside him sat Seraphina Sutton.

"Dr. Wynter, good morning."

Seraphina Sutton, intending to provoke Wren, greeted her with a beaming smile.

Her face was somewhat pale, and even a thick layer of foundation couldn’t hide the dark circles under her eyes.

She clearly hadn’t slept well last night.

’As for why... who knows.’

Wren Wynter suppressed the churning nausea in her stomach. She narrowed her eyes, her expression indifferent as she walked out of the villa.

Kaden Xavier tightened his grip on the steering wheel. The memory of Wren Wynter’s resolute and distant expression from yesterday caused a surge of inexplicable anger to rise within him.

Only when she reached the car did Kaden Xavier speak.

"There’s limited space in the car. Get a cab yourself."

With that, he stepped on the gas, and the car vanished from sight.

Wren Wynter hadn’t expected him to give her a ride to the conference anyway. She had already called for a cab.

She had only come out to wait for it.

Who could have predicted Kaden Xavier would be so brazen as to bring Seraphina Sutton to their door just to flaunt their relationship in her face?

After all, they were about to get a divorce.

’He and Seraphina Sutton no longer had to hide.’

...

When she arrived, Ho-ran Park was already waiting by the entrance. He walked over as soon as he saw Wren Wynter get out of her cab.

"Junior Sister, let’s go inside."

"Okay."

Wren Wynter followed Ho-ran Park into the conference hall.

Just as Wren Wynter expected, the international conference had attracted many of the leading figures in the medical community.

They were all surrounded by doctors and industry executives eager to network.

Dressed in an expensive black suit with his dark hair slicked back, Kaden Xavier exuded an air of refined elegance that made him stand out in the crowd.

Wren Wynter spotted him immediately.

She quietly looked away, finding a corner to wait for Shaun Quinn.

’I’m here for my teacher.’

’Last time was so rushed, I didn’t even have a chance to buy him a proper gift.’

’This time, I bought Julian Hawthorne’s favorite tea in advance. I hope he’ll accept it.’

"Junior Sister, don’t worry. You know what Teacher is like—his bark is worse than his bite. Deep down, he forgave you a long time ago."

"Yes, I know." Wren Wynter gave a faint smile.

Holding the container of tea, she stood in the most inconspicuous corner, trying to keep a low profile.

"Look! Is that Elder Hawthorne? I can’t believe he’s attending this conference!"

"Well, you obviously haven’t heard. See the man next to him? That’s his second disciple. They say his youngest student cut all ties with him. Maybe he’s here to find a new one?"

"Exactly! If I could become a student of Julian Hawthorne, I would die with no regrets!"

Everyone around was buzzing about Julian Hawthorne’s arrival, and Wren Wynter followed their voices and gazes to find him.

Julian Hawthorne was making his way through the crowd, with Shaun Quinn following behind him.

Shaun Quinn’s features were rather androgynous, possessing a certain feminine charm that attracted a great deal of attention from the opposite sex.

But his entire demeanor was so cold that no one dared approach him.

"Don’t worry. Teacher won’t be taking on a new disciple. If he were, he’d ask us first," Ho-ran said.

Wren Wynter nodded with a faint smile.

’She knew Julian Hawthorne’s standards; becoming his student was no easy feat.’

"Wren Wynter?"

Suddenly, a voice called out from behind her.

Wren Wynter turned to find Nathaniel Quinn frowning at her, his face cold.

"I can’t believe you’d follow him all the way here just to get Cole’s attention."

"My being here has nothing to do with Kaden Xavier."

"Who are you trying to fool?" Nathaniel Quinn made no attempt to hide his dislike and contempt for her. "You chased him to the airline, and now you’ve chased him here. Even if you shamelessly follow him, Cole won’t give you a second glance. I suggest you give up, divorce him quickly, and stop getting in the way of him and Seraphina."

"Who do you think is getting in whose way?" Ho-ran Park’s brow furrowed, his usual gentle tone gone.

Wren Wynter pulled him back, her expression serene. "What is he, a prize pig I’m supposed to chase around and drool over? If you have this much time to worry about other people’s affairs, you’d be better off managing your own little harem. You should really learn to mind your own business."

"And finally, I couldn’t care less who Kaden Xavier is with. They could get married tomorrow for all I care."

Nathaniel Quinn was left speechless by Wren’s words, his face turning ashen with rage. He was utterly shocked.

He had always thought of Wren as soft-spoken and meek, constantly doing things to curry favor with Cole.

He never expected her to be so assertive.

Or to say something like that.

’Could this be a new tactic?’

"Senior Brother, let’s go."

Not wanting to let some nobody ruin her mood, Wren turned and walked straight toward Shaun Quinn and Julian Hawthorne.

Nathaniel Quinn remained where he was. He was determined to see whether Wren had really come here to chase after Cole.

Wren Wynter and Ho-ran Park found Shaun Quinn.

When Shaun Quinn saw her, his expression remained as cold as ever.

"Second Brother, must you always pull such a long face? You’re giving me a chill," Ho-ran Park teased.

Wren inwardly agreed.

’Second Brother always had a ’keep away’ air about him. He’s grown up now, but he’s still the same.’

"Eldest Brother, you talk too much."

"Second Brother, where’s Teacher?"

Wren’s eyes scanned the area, but she couldn’t find any sign of Julian Hawthorne.

’He was just here a moment ago.’

"Teacher found it too noisy out here, so he went back to the lounge."

"That sounds just like him."

Ho-ran Park rubbed his nose.

Shaun Quinn’s eyes fell upon Wren, and his own deep eyes darkened as he pursed his thin lips.

His defined jawline tensed. From a distance, he looked grim.

"I’ll take you to see Teacher."

"Okay."

Wren Wynter left with Shaun Quinn and Ho-ran Park, unaware that Nathaniel Quinn had witnessed their entire interaction.

A look of contempt crossed Nathaniel Quinn’s eyes, and he sneered.

’No wonder she wasn’t looking for Cole. She was busy trying to climb a different ladder.’

’He knew who Shaun Quinn was—the student of a titan in the medical world. Wren was probably trying to latch onto a bigshot like Shaun to get in Julian Hawthorne’s good graces.’

’Just as I thought. A woman who used disgraceful means to get married wouldn’t hesitate to use them for anything else.’

Nathaniel Quinn scanned the conference hall for Kaden Xavier and hurried over when he found him.

"Cole, guess who I just saw!"

"Out with it."

"Your wife, Wren Wynter!"

The moment Wren Wynter’s name was spoken, the temperature around Kaden Xavier seemed to drop, and his expression darkened.

"I just saw her going up to one of Julian Hawthorne’s students. She had such a fawning look on her face, she might as well have had her intentions written all over it."

A flash of disgust crossed Nathaniel Quinn’s eyes, and he failed to notice that the expression on Kaden Xavier’s face was growing darker by the second.

Seeing this, Seraphina Sutton’s eyes darted about before she tugged on Kaden Xavier’s sleeve.

"Kaden, maybe we should go find Dr. Wynter? What she’s doing is an embarrassment to the Xavier Family."
