Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Are You Threatening Me?

As his car passed the Municipal Services Center downtown, a familiar figure unexpectedly entered his line of sight.

It was Wren Wynter.

She was wearing a simple, light blue dress, her long hair draped over her shoulders. She was walking down the steps of the Municipal Services Center, holding a clear document pouch.

’What is she doing here?’

’Getting a passport?’

’She’s going abroad?!’

The thought struck Kaden Xavier like a bolt of lightning.

He slammed on the brakes. The tires screeched against the pavement, drawing stares from pedestrians.

The man, who rarely lost his composure, ignored everything else. He quickly unbuckled his seatbelt, threw open the car door, and rushed over, grabbing her by the wrist.

"Wren Wynter!"

He was out of breath, his tone urgent.

"What are you doing here? Are you getting a passport? Are you going abroad? Where are you going?!"

Wren stumbled from the force of his pull, a sharp pain shooting through her wrist.

She frowned and turned. Seeing it was Kaden Xavier, she forcefully shook off his hand and took a step back, putting distance between them.

"Mr. Xavier, please mind your conduct. Causing a scene like this in public is unbecoming."

Her voice was calm and steady. "As for me getting a passport and deciding where to go, that is my freedom. Besides, I don’t believe I need to report my travel plans to you."

’No need to let him know what I’m really doing.’

"Travel? You’re going traveling at a time like this? Wren Wynter, what the hell are you trying to do?!"

Provoked by her detached attitude, Kaden Xavier’s voice rose unconsciously.

"We haven’t even settled the divorce, and you’re already planning to run off to some faraway place? With whom? Ho-ran Park? Or some other man I don’t know about?"

Listening to his insulting words, Wren didn’t even have the energy to be angry.

She just found it laughable, and pathetic.

She raised her eyes to meet his, which were slightly bloodshot, and said, word by word,

"Kaden Xavier, I’ll say this one last time. For the divorce, you have two options."

"One, sign the papers. We part on good terms, an uncontested divorce, and I can be flexible with the terms. Two, don’t sign, and I’ll see you in court. My lawyer will handle everything."

"Whether or not it affects Xavier Airlines’ stock price and your reputation is not something I can control, nor is it something I care to."

"Are you threatening me?"

Kaden Xavier’s chest heaved. He couldn’t believe it.

"Wren Wynter, haven’t I been good enough to you all these years? What have you ever wanted that I haven’t given you? Houses, cars, jewelry—have I ever wronged you? Why must you keep fixating on Seraphina? Why do you have to take things this far?!"

"Good to me?"

Wren looked as if she had heard the joke of the century, the corners of her mouth curling into a sarcastic arc.

"Kaden Xavier, is your so-called ’good’ tossing me a luxury item like I’m some beggar every time you have a fight with me over Seraphina Sutton?"

"Is it preparing two birthday gifts every year, one for me and one for her?"

"Or how about knowing she’s allergic to shrimp and oranges, but not knowing I’m allergic to flowers?"

She took a step forward, her gaze as sharp as a blade of ice.

"You’re good to me? So good that everyone in the company thinks your true love is another woman? So good that even when it comes to divorce, you have to first consider your stock shares and another woman’s reputation?!"

"Kaden Xavier, your ’goodness’ is something I can’t afford, and don’t dare to accept."

Kaden Xavier was stunned by her barrage of questions.

’She’s jealous.’

’Wren is jealous because of all this, and she wants a divorce because she’s jealous.’

Kaden Xavier collected himself.

"I’m just looking out for Seraphina, and besides, she’s Asher Lynch’s wife. Why can’t you understand that? Why must you compete with her? Can’t you just be a little more magnanimous?"

"Compete? Magnanimous?"

Wren laughed so hard she almost cried, her smile filled with disappointment.

"Kaden Xavier, do you really still think I’m jealous, that I’m fighting for your affection? Let me tell you, I am not jealous, and I am not competing. Because you’re not worth it."

Her voice suddenly turned hard and cold.

"Are you signing or not? Give me a straight answer. If you don’t, we’ll see each other in court. And as for you and Seraphina Sutton, after the divorce, you can look out for her however you want, be as intimate as you want. It will have absolutely nothing to do with me, Wren Wynter."

"Of course, if you want to keep making a scene, feel free to continue embarrassing yourself here at the entrance."

With that, she didn’t spare him another glance, turning and walking back toward the building without hesitation.

"Wren!"

Kaden Xavier started to go after her, but his phone chose that inopportune moment to ring. It was Seraphina Sutton.

He glanced at Wren’s retreating back, then at his buzzing phone.

He jabbed the answer button, his tone harsh. "Hello!"

"Kaden... have you arrived? Was there traffic? It’s okay, I’ll wait for you..."

Seraphina Sutton’s soft voice came through the phone.

Kaden Xavier closed his eyes, suppressing the fury in his heart, and said in a hoarse voice,

"...I’ll be there soon."

He took one last look in the direction where Wren had disappeared, then finally turned and left.

「Half an hour later.」

Wren Wynter took the newly issued visa from her document pouch, snapped a clear photo of it, and sent it to Ho-ran Park.

*Ho-ran, the visa’s ready.*

Ho-ran Park replied quickly.

*Got it. Tickets are booked. Five days from now, 3 PM. We’ll meet at Capital International Airport, Terminal 3. Don’t be late.*

*Okay.*

Wren Wynter replied with a single word, then had an idea. She opened her social media feed and composed a post.

*Today is a beautiful day.*

Then she posted it.

Wren Wynter looked at her own post at the top of her feed and smiled.

’It really is a beautiful day.’

Wren scrolled through her feed for a bit. After just a few posts, she saw an anonymous one: several photos of a couple acting lovey-dovey, accompanied by some cheesy romantic caption.

Wren didn’t look closely and scrolled past it.

But then she stopped, thinking the people in the photo looked a little familiar. She scrolled back up, found the anonymous post, and tapped on it.

She ignored the sappy caption and scrolled straight to the last photo.

It was Kaden Xavier and Seraphina Sutton.

Wren’s breath caught in her throat.

In the photo, Seraphina Sutton was intimately clinging to Kaden Xavier’s arm, a sweet smile on her face.

Kaden Xavier was looking down at Seraphina Sutton.

Another picture showed Seraphina opening her mouth to accept a piece of fruit from Kaden’s fork.

The two of them looked incredibly in love.

Wren stared at the photos, her eyes turning ice-cold.

She was almost certain this was Seraphina Sutton’s doing.

Either she’d hired someone to take the photos herself, or she had deliberately created the angle for a friend to capture and post them.

Her goal could only be to further solidify her relationship with Kaden Xavier and to provoke her, Wren.

Wren closed her eyes. When she opened them again, all emotion was gone from her face.

’Seraphina Sutton has no idea that these cheap tricks will now just become a powerful weapon for my divorce suit.’

With a light tap of her finger, she saved all the photos.

「A few days later.」

Wren went to the bank to handle some matters regarding proof of assets. By the time she came out, it was already noon.

She was thinking of just finding a random place for lunch when she looked up and saw a figure walking out of the law firm next door.

It was Shaun Quinn.
