Celestial Beast Taming
Chapter 43 - 42: Fate Moisture Laurel and Illusion-tailed Fox
Activating the Core of Resurgence consumed the Crown of the Sun’s own energy. The core acted like a catalyst, stimulating that energy.
The Crown of the Sun’s Life Template had no place for such curses, so as the template was activated and restored, the curse’s energy was naturally expelled from its body.
However, this curse had been cast by a Bizarre at the cost of its own life, making it incredibly potent.
Even after being forced out of its body, the curse still clung to the Crown of the Sun’s main trunk, relentlessly eroding its way back in.
Seeing this, Zhong Yi immediately had the Resurrection Celestial Lord cast Recovery Enlightenment three times on the spot where the curse clung.
The Recovery Enlightenment Skill also consumed energy from within the Crown of the Sun.
Since the skill was effective at clearing curses, the Resurrection Celestial Lord utilized its own Rule Authority while casting it.
Since the Resurrection Celestial Lord was only at the Mortal Beast Level, a single cast of Recovery Enlightenment couldn’t make the curse vanish entirely.
However, it was like splashing hot water on solid ice, causing the curse to melt away at a visible rate.
After three casts of Recovery Enlightenment, the Resurrection Celestial Lord itself hadn’t consumed much energy.
Previously, the Crown of the Sun had simply been unable to heal the injury. Actually recovering from such a wound, however, didn’t consume much of its energy.
The injury on the Crown of the Sun, which had left Lin Zhuo completely helpless, was healed by Zhong Yi in a mere moment.
Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao had planned to shower Zhong Yi with praise if the treatment showed even the slightest effect.
But the scene before their eyes left Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao’s mouths dry and their throats tight. They completely forgot to praise him.
After a long moment, Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao stared at Zhong Yi as if he were a priceless treasure—so precious you’d fear it melting in your mouth or shattering in your hands.
A Celestial Destiny Seeker who could heal another Order Beast across three Major Tiers—even one who hadn’t fully matured—was already as valuable as the Three Emperors, Four Venerables, and Five Monarchs, the twelve Strongest who were the Pillars of the State for the Xin Xia Federation.
Even after taking Zhong Yi and Zhong Ling to dine at the Daytime Food Shop, Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao remained lost in a state of shock and elation.
But the pair hadn’t forgotten their reason for seeking Zhong Yi out.
"Xiaoyi, you are exceptionally special among Celestial Destiny Seekers. I hope you’ll do your best not to reveal your Order Beast’s abilities. Otherwise, you’ll definitely be targeted."
"There are numerous evil organizations composed of Bizarre that are always plotting in the shadows against new Celestial Destiny Seekers."
"Your unique nature means you’ll be their primary target."
The most fundamental reason Bizarre want to kill Celestial Destiny Seekers is to devour their Order Beasts.
This gives their own contracted Deceit Beasts a chance at Evolution and the ability to control the Power of Rules.
Another reason is to weaken the orthodox Guardian Beast Masters, as mature Celestial Destiny Seekers become sharp blades wielded against the Bizarre.
Zhong Yi nodded and said seriously.
"Very few people should know that I’m a Healing-type Celestial Destiny Seeker. To the public, I’ll only reveal that I’m a Celestial Destiny Seeker, not the Rule my Order Beast commands."
"And I hope that those who do know won’t expose my situation either."
Hearing this, Lin Zhuo promised in a grave tone.
"You can rest assured on that point, Xiaoyi. Also, Wen Tao and I will submit your potential rating for you."
"Including you, Starlight City only has thirteen Celestial Destiny Seekers. The entire Xin Xia Federation has fewer than 400."
"Starlight City’s two strongest Celestial Destiny Seekers are Star Night and Frost Day. I’ll inform them of your situation and let them decide on the next steps."
Originally, Lin Zhuo had been confident about becoming Zhong Yi’s Guardian. But now, having witnessed the Resurrection Celestial Lord’s Healing Ability and learned of Zhong Yi’s terrifying potential, she no longer believed she alone could properly shoulder that responsibility.
Zhong Yi could sense how much Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao valued him from their attitudes and words.
Zhong Yi smiled and said.
"I was born and raised in Starlight City and have received its protection. If any Celestial Destiny Seeker from our Starlight City has an Order Beast whose Origin is injured, they can come to me for free treatment."
"As for Celestial Destiny Seekers from other cities seeking my treatment, I’ll need to charge a fee."
As a Celestial Destiny Seeker, one needs far more resources than an ordinary Guardian Beast Master.
After revealing his ability to heal the Origin wounds of Order Beasts, it was inevitable that Celestial Destiny Seekers would seek his help in the future.
By making his stance clear to Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao, Zhong Yi could avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble and complications down the line.
Treating Starlight City’s Celestial Destiny Seekers for free was a show of good faith from Zhong Yi.
But for healing Celestial Destiny Seekers from other cities, he would certainly still charge.
Hearing Zhong Yi’s words, the way Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao looked at him changed again. Their gazes now held more warmth and fondness.
That Water Attribute Celestial Destiny Seeker with healing abilities extorted a hefty price every single time they healed an Order Beast.
Both Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao had been overcharged by them before. If they had only extorted such prices from Celestial Destiny Seekers of other cities, it would have been one thing.
But this Celestial Destiny Seeker, who was based in Kyoto, was just as merciless when charging fees to other Celestial Destiny Seekers from Kyoto.
Compared to that Celestial Destiny Seeker, Zhong Yi’s magnanimity was on a whole other level.
But more than his magnanimity, Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao valued his devotion to Starlight City.
"Xiaoyi, when Celestial Destiny Seekers from other cities come to you for treatment, you can charge them however you see fit."
"And when our own Celestial Destiny Seekers from Starlight City ask for your help, we’ll make sure you’re compensated."
"We got so caught up in the meal, I completely forgot to give you these. This is a welcome gift, and also your reward for healing my Crown of the Sun."
With that, Lin Zhuo took three items out of her Soul Base and presented them to Zhong Yi.
One of them was the Shelter that Zhong Yi had just obtained in the Horned Demon Secret Realm.
The other two were a half-meter-tall green sapling and a white fox cub sealed within a Brown Crystal, its eyes still closed.
As she handed the items to Zhong Yi, Lin Zhuo explained carefully.
"I assume you already know what this Shelter does, so I won’t explain it further."
"This Fate Moisture Laurel is both a Healing Element Guardian Beast and can also be considered a Life Element Soul Base Material."
"Nurturing it in your Soul Base can enhance the activity and concentration of the Life Energy within."
"You have an affinity for Healing-type Guardian Beasts, so if you want to form a Contract with a new Guardian Beast, the Fate Moisture Laurel is an excellent choice."
"Sealed within that dormant Brown Crystal is an Illusion-tailed Fox. This type of Guardian Beast doesn’t need to be contracted like a normal one; it will treat the first living being it sees upon opening its eyes as its closest family."
"The Illusion-tailed Fox’s Basic Skill, Illusion Body, can help you change your aura, appearance, and body shape. It will be a great help to you at your current stage."
