Chapter 44 - I'll be waiting for you, Jing Lihua

Zhao Liying looked at the time. It was already at 9 pm. Her manager had started calling her. She was supposed to be at the airport by 8:30 pm. After much contemplation, she had to block him. She couldn't afford to attend her call. Her Xiao Hua had warned her a lot that her grandfather was a very suspicious man.

Damn you, Xiao Hua! Where are you? You promised to come back before 8 pm. I'm never going to trust your words again!

Zhao Liying had already sent Jing Lihua more than twenty messages, half of them consisted of exquisite curses but there was no reply from her side. Jing Lihua had decided to send another text when she heard the sound of footsteps coming from outside. She quickly put down her phone and pretended to be asleep.

Tang Liuwei opened the door to his granddaughter's room and glanced around. He was a little surprised to find that Jing Lihua was still here. His granddaughter was being very obedient and it unsettled him for some reason.

"Xiao Lizi, wake up! Its time to take your medicine"

She gave no response. Must be asleep soundly.

"Xiao Lizi?"

When he walked closer to the bed intending to wake her up, he heard a muffled cough.

"Grandfather, I've taken the medicine. I'm feeling tired after taking it. So let me sleep"

"What happened to your voice?" Her voice was strangely squeaky.

"My throat; it hurts. The Side effects from the medicine. Nothing to worry about" Zhao Liying coughed some more to make her excuse seem realistic.

"Alright. I'll leave you then."

Zhao Liying internally praised herself. God, she was so good! She fooled Jing Lihua's grandfather! Haha... She would brag about it for the rest of her life.

Tang Liuwei had just walked out when he suddenly stopped. He quickly walked back into the room.

"Why didn't you stop me when I called you Xiao Lizi?"

Silence followed his sudden burst. Zhao Liying was befuddled when the door had suddenly opened once again. Before she could think of an excuse, Tang Liuwei had already walked to the bed and snatched away the blanket from her.

Mother! She was scared!

...

Jing Lihua walked back into the director's room with a preoccupied mind. Now she had to deal with her uncle too? As if Su family members were not enough. Just then she received a myriad of texts from Zhao Liying.

"Hurry up! Your grandfather caught me!"

"I've to hide to text you! At least reply to me!"

"He says he'll kill me if I didn't tell him where you are!"

"He has already sent the man to fetch you!"

"Come and save me. I'm going to cry. Your grandfather is far scarier than my manager!"

When she wouldn't stop texting, Jing Lihua switched off her phone. She looked at the director who was sitting in his office chair.

"Dr. Chen, have you made up your mind whether to tell me the truth or not?"

"Ms. Jing Mr. Li wants to talk to you" He pushed forward his phone with ease; not appearing tense at all.

"Who Mr. Li," She asked taking the phone in her hands.

"The President of Li corporates"

Jing Lihua stared at the directer. Was he joking?

Suddenly she recalled Heng Bingwen words. Everything connected. Someone from Hong Kong had been helping them. The most powerful force of Hong Kong had something to do with stopping those scandals:- The Li corporate. And now they had something to do with the hospital too?

She took the phone into her hands and placed it against her ear somewhat absentmindedly. There was silence but she could feel the imposing presence from the other end.

"This is President of Tang enterprise, Jing Lihua from Beijing speaking. Your introduction?"

After a silence, a slightly familiar voice answered from the other side.

"The President of Li corporate from Hong Kong" The man skipped his name.

So it was the president of Li corporates? It would be wrong to say that she hadn't heard about him. He was a famous celebrity. Everyone in the business world would know him. Even though at the moment, she couldn't recall his name, she remembered his other name... Devil. He was a devil in the business world; ruthless in his dealings and merciless to everyone who defied him.

Was it really the great 'Devil' or the director was playing some sort of trick on her to get some time? Jing Lihua looked at the phone, told a man to copy the number and send it to Heng Bingwen to verify. She eyed the directer suspiciously. But he didn't look nervous at all.

"Are you the one who asked Dr. Chen to misinform me about my ailment"

"Yes," A simple answer in an icy voice with a hint of amus.e.m.e.nt. It seemed like the man didn't intend to reveal anything more than that such as the reason behind it. In case he was really the 'Devil', Jing Lihua couldn't force him anyway. She had to play by his rules.

"And you are the one who caused the media to stop releasing the scandals?" Jing Lihua wasn't sure that it was exactly 'him' behind it. But if it was not him, he had something to do with it indirectly from Heng Bingwen speculations. She wanted to confirm

To this, there was a slight silence. As if the person was surprised that how came Jing Lihua knew about it.

"Yes," His voice had blatant amus.e.m.e.nt. Jing Lihua was surprised. She didn't know why but her heart picked up its pace.

"May I ask the reasons behind your actions?"

"If you want to know the reasons, you'll have to come to Hong Kong. I'll be waiting for you, Jing Lihua" And the call was ended. Jing Lihua was left flabbergasted in more than one way. First, why did he use her first name? And second, the most important thing, now that he spoke a full sentence, she recalled where had she heard this voice before.

She glanced at the director to confirm. Her gaze held reluctance.

"Is there any doctor Li in your hospital?"

"Yes," The director lied. He remembered Mr. Li's words.

"Can I see him?" Jing Lihua was suspicious.

"I'm sorry Ms. Jing. He is currently in Hong Kong to attend some personal matters"

After giving it a thought, Jing Lihua discarded the possibility. She realized she was being too unreasonable. How could that crazy doctor be the President of Li corps? Why would he want to impersonate a doctor? That was too absurd. He was the President of Li conglomerates. He had no reason to do that. So she gave up the idea of investigating that crazy doctor.

Just at the moment, she received a text from Heng Bingwen confirming it was the personal number of the President of Li corporates. Everything was confirmed.
