CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 2289 - 2298: Unable to Protect
"Let’s tell Sister Grace why Rachel Miller approached her, and make it clear that we will definitely not help those two kids in the future. The rest is a matter between Rachel, Sister Grace, and them, and has nothing to do with us."
"Okay." James Black patted Jane Sampson’s head and kissed her on the forehead.
"We don’t owe the Miller Family or Rachel Miller anything," Jane Sampson said sweetly as she cuddled up to James Black. "So you shouldn’t be upset about this."
"I’m not." James Black only felt a slight irritation at first, an emotion only brought about by Rachel Miller constantly clinging to him like a leech.
Just like Jane Sampson said, he, James Black, owes nothing to the Miller Family.
"Shall we stop worrying about it, then? Once I finish calling Sister Grace, you can accompany me for a lunch break." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Once James Black nodded, Jane Sampson made a return call to Sister Grace.
Jane Sampson understood that ten million was an enormous temptation for an ordinary person.
Especially for Sister Grace, who is currently swamped with debt.
So, Jane Sampson did not hide anything from Sister Grace, explaining her husband and Mr. Miller’s connection and leaving the decision to Sister Grace.
Jane Sampson clearly told Sister Grace that Rachel Miller was targeting her and James Black, but she and James Black would absolutely not take responsibility for those two kids. So, whether to become their guardian was up to Sister Grace herself.
After the call, Jane Sampson dragged James Black for a lunch break.
She clung tightly to James Black, persistently demanding affection, one moment asking for kisses, the next for hugs, and again for more kisses, until James Black finally succumbed, indulging her for more than an hour until she quietly fell asleep by his side.
Over at the hospital, after finishing the call with Jane Sampson, Sister Grace had a clear understanding of the situation.
She was about to call Rachel Miller when, unexpectedly, the two children who hadn’t come in earlier returned with some fruits.
The two kids stood somewhat bashfully at the ward’s doorway, looking at Nia, before finally stepping in after a few seconds.
Seeing the two children appear, Sister Grace immediately felt her head spinning.
Moreover, she discovered she couldn’t reach Mr. Miller on the phone.
"Why is it just you two kids? Where’s that Mr. Miller who brought you here this morning?" Sister Grace asked.
"Uncle can’t stay away from the hospital for too long and has gone back now," the older boy replied.
"He left you two here just like that?" Sister Grace was astonished.
"Daddy also left his assistant, Aunt Martin, and Uncle Martin to take care of me and my brother," the younger girl replied. "Daddy said for my brother and me to keep Nia company, and if Aunt Grace doesn’t like having us around, my brother and I can go back in two days."
Sister Grace sighed and said directly, "You should go back and tell your daddy that I’m just an ordinary person, and I can’t involve myself in the affairs of your wealthy family. I don’t have the capability to protect you in the future."
"Daddy said my brother and I have an elder uncle by blood who can protect us," the little girl stated truthfully. "Daddy said, Aunt Grace, you know him."
"Whether he is your elder uncle or not, you should ask your daddy. I, as an outsider, can’t explain too much. Besides, that gentleman doesn’t owe the Miller Family anything. Also, he is a benefactor to Nia and me, and we already owe him a great favor, so I’m not in a position to ask for more help for you."
