"But, Jillian Carter is the daughter of a rich family, how could she be your daughter? You must be joking." The driver clearly didn’t believe Mother Chip’s words, thinking she was joking, and didn’t continue the conversation, starting the car and driving to the address.

"Jillian Carter came from my belly, how could she not be my daughter?" Mother Chip grumbled unsatisfied in the backseat, but the driver ignored her, no matter how much she murmured, it was useless.

One hour later, the taxi stopped at the residential community doorway.

"You should get off here, this residential community doesn’t allow taxis inside." The driver looked at the two people beside and behind him, not considering them as homeowners, so he had no intention to negotiate with the security guard, directly setting the meter, "It’s 245 bucks altogether, cash or WhatsAPP pay?"

"What? This short distance costs over 200 bucks? We traveled far from Capital Province by train, and it was only 400 bucks!" Mother Chip exclaimed, "You devious thief, targeting us just because we’re outsiders! We’ve seen plenty of this kind of thing, we’ll only give you 120 at most!"

Haggling by half the price was a strategy Mother Chip had honed over many years with various small vendors.

Christopher Chip felt ashamed by the rebuttal, "Sorry, my mom’s mind isn’t clear, I’ll pay you, cash."

Mr. and Mrs. Chip rarely took taxis; to them, a bus ride at two or three bucks was expensive enough, and taking a taxi over 15 bucks was considered costly.

This commotion naturally caught the security guard’s attention.

Seeing the three people dressed shabbily alighting from the taxi and cursing, the security guard directly approached them, asking, "What are you doing here?"

"Looking for my sister." Christopher Chip stood straight, in his eyes, security guards were people with no skills, so naturally he looked down on them, his tone when speaking was inevitably haughty, "My sister, Jillian Carter, we need to get in to see her."

Upon hearing they were looking for Jillian Carter, the security guard was surprised, eyeing the three Chip family members up and down, pondering that even the wealthiest people have some poor relatives, right?
