"Hoho.. instructor Malcom, it seems you wasted your recommendation spot this time around" an instructor couldn’t help himself..

"The young man did show promise, to think such a thing would’ve alluded him" the priestly old instructor joined in, a faint smile on his face..

"Humph... that little lass only knows trickery, it’ll be foolish for any of you to believe that someone I picked out personally, would be done over by such a little thing" instructor Malcom, a man with short black hair, brown eyes, wearing a black scholar’s robe spoke with an annoyed huff..

"Fufufu.. dear Malcom, is that a challenge I hear?" The female instructor with green hair and blue eyes asked with a soft laugh..

"Hmm? Malena, you seem to know this young lady" the priestly looking old man asked..

"Of course, sir Voren, she’s a member of my family after all" the female instructor, Malena, answered with a respectful nod..

"Ahh.. I see, no wonder then" the man merely nodded gently and stopped talking..

"So, Malcom, care to wager?" She turned to Malcom, her tone teasing.

"And what would we wager, woman?" The man asked..

"Ohh, just our academy points for this month, whoever wins gets all of them" she laughed softly..

"Humph, I didn’t think you were strapped for funds" Malcom smirked coldly, "no matter, I shall humor you on this endeavor, now open your eyes and witness true genius" the man took his attention from the woman, returning it to battle unfolding..

My racing heart started slowing down once I saw Cara’s body reforming, the rage was still there but now I was feeling less prone to making any brash movements..

Seemingly sensing my agitation, Cara turned, smiled and winked softly at me in reassurance, finally settling all my anxiety at ease.

So, now fully calmed, well not actually calmed, more like less jumpy, I focused on their fight..

"How....how are you still standing there?" Apollo’s shaky voice sounded out as he questioned Cara..

The cold seemed to be getting to him.

"Now, why would I ever tell you that?" She smiled sweetly.

"So, tell me, did you like my little surprise?" she asked cheerfully..

"It amuses me that you think this little wound would impede me" his shaky voice cleared as a column of golden flames engulfed the young man and when it died out, the young man appeared, whole, not a single injury to be found..

"Now, let’s put this farce to an end, permanently"..

"Yea, yea, you said that the last time as well"..

Wooosh!!!!!!

A tornado of golden stellar flames rose up around the young blond, his hair floating upwards, the temperature around got to such ungodly degrees that the floor that had been putting up with the attacks from the two earlier combatants, the celestial and demon, started turning into molten slag, the protective runes along the barrier that surrounded the arena started fluctuating, my eyes catching sight of some seemingly melting..

The waves of power that slipped through the cracks were horrifying, I’d thought the two from earlier were a benchmark, but this guy that had come from the same eastern domain as me, just blew that notion right out the window.

And it showed too, as some of the elite class geniuses that had turned a blind eye to the challenge suddenly had solemn looks on their faces...

"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust"

"Solar Incarceration!!.

Four massive pillars of flames rose up around Cara, they rapidly encircled her, closing in around her as they threatened to trap her within a prison of impossibly hot flames that would no doubt reduce her to cinders in moments, yet she was deathly calm..

"Domain of unending winter".

Before I could find time to worry again, Cara’s voice sounded out.

Once again, she’d activated one of those "domain" skills she seemed to have acquired from god knows where.

A blizzard of frozen devastation rose with her as the center, but this time, the ice wasn’t the blue I knew her for.

It was an obsidian, black as night, ice that dropped the temperature so much, the entire space within the barred arena and outside, froze solid, the raging pillars of stellar flames, turned into black ice statues as their threat was instantly nullified..

"Netherworld ice spear" a blackened spear made of that same nefarious ice manifested before Apollo like a ghost, the tip already piercing through his midsection before his flames reacted, the Solar essence within them burned fiercely as they pushed back the black ice, yet the attack seemed unstoppable...

"You...Filthy...Whore!!!!" His aura detonated, his flames burning a brilliant white-gold, as they finally succeeded in breaking down the black ice that was about to make a donut out of him..

The entire space had fallen silent after the brief exhchange, they’d all just seen an elite class student almost get crushed with one move, the elites didn’t look down on Apollo, not after feeling the ungodly amount of heat his flames had given off, no, instead their solemn eyes focused on Cara, most of the others that had remained indifferent finally taking proper notice..

"Good, don’t you dare look down on my woman" the surge of pride I felt in that moment, one would have thought I was the one currently handing out the ass beat.. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Yet, before I could even revel in the feeling properly, my mind went blank as sudden understanding flooded my senses, moves, skills and abilities so absurd I didn’t even know where to began started imprinting themselves in my mind..

The system’s notification only coming afterwards..

Just the icing on the cake I needed..

"Little Malena, you said this young woman was a member of your family?" The priestly old man couldn’t help asking as his eyes twinkled brightly..

"Yes, Sir voren" the female instructor replied respectfully, yet the pride in her voice was unmistakable..

"It seems your family has found another gem hidden within coals huh, congratulations" the man smiled at her brightly..

"Yo... Malcom, still confident in your little protégé? Don’t get me wrong, He’s good but..." an instructor nudged Malcom, his voice mocking..

"Humph, for you all to already be writing off this contest from one clash,shows just how shortsighted you all are" Malcom was unshaken, his cold gaze remained fixated on the ongoing standoff..

"Hohoho.. then I’d like to see just what your little recommendation has in store for us" Malena merely smiled..

The standoff between the two didn’t last long, Apollo snapped out of his shock faster than I’d expected..

"I’ve had enough of this!!" Following his bellow, the white-golden flames from before engulfed his entire body once again, this time, the rise in temperature wasn’t even something to talk about, just the fact that the supervisors could be seen making readjustments to the entire structure of the arena spoke volumes to just how hot it had gotten..

Cara’s black ice constructs finally showed signs of structural collapse, the heat finally getting to them..

From within the golden flames, twin burning gold eyes peered through, their radiance so bright they lit up the entire place, mind you, it was currently mid day...

"Edicts of the Solar compendium"..

The sound of his voice seemed to silence the entire place, the weight of the moment settling in, something big was coming and we could all feel it..

"Wrath Of Helios!"

His voice this time around, didn’t come from one direction. No. It echoed like an invocation from the very heavens, the world seemed slowed.

I could see the instructors rising from their seats as their eyes trailed upwards.

I looked up and my eyes widened..

The sun..was descending...
