Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 204 - 160: Lu Fan Gives Silu Living Expenses for the First Time!
But Jiang Sifan didn’t notice any of this.
He was focused only on protecting He Lingyi and making sure she got out of the haunted house safely.
After they left the haunted house and were back in the daylight, Jiang Sifan noticed that He Lingyi’s face was very red.
At first, he assumed she was flushed from being scared.
So he started to tease her, "See? I told you we shouldn’t go into the haunted house, but you just wouldn’t listen. Now look at you, your face is all red."
Hearing this, He Lingyi’s face grew even redder. She mumbled under her breath, "No, it’s not that... It was because..."
But she didn’t tell Jiang Sifan what had just happened.
In fact, she had secretly overheard the entire conversation her mother had with Jiang Sifan the previous night.
So naturally, He Lingyi wasn’t going to cause any trouble for Jiang Sifan.
After all, her parents would definitely judge things by her final college entrance exam scores.
If she didn’t perform well, she was afraid her mom’s impression of Teacher Jiang would sour.
’Let’s just consider that little gesture a reward for him for all his help lately.’
’Brother Sifan, that was my first kiss, you know.’
For the rest of the day, Jiang Sifan took He Lingyi on the roller coaster and the bumper cars.
Especially when they were crashing into each other on the bumper cars, He Lingyi kept yelling, "Ahhh! Stop crashing into me!"
But Jiang Sifan still rammed her from behind.
"What’s the fun of bumper cars if you don’t crash into anyone?" he said with a laugh.
After the ride was over, He Lingyi pouted and grumbled, "You kept hitting me, hmph! Just you wait! Next time, I’m going to ram you!"
Soon, their day at the amusement park was coming to an end.
Before they left the amusement park, He Lingyi glanced back and said with a contented sigh, "I had a lot of fun today."
"I’m glad you had fun," Jiang Sifan said with a smile. "There’s still one semester to go. I’m sure you can get great scores. At your current level, you can still improve your math score by about twenty points. If you do, you might even have a shot at Jinling University."
"I’m not going there," He Lingyi said confidently. "I’ve already told my mom, no matter how high my score is, I’m not going to any other school. I’m going to your school, the Jinling Institute of Technology."
"What’s so great about the Jinling Institute of Technology?" Jiang Sifan said self-deprecatingly. "It’s full of guys. A total sausage fest."
"Because you’re there," He Lingyi said, then coolly started walking ahead.
Her words really struck a chord with him.
To say he wasn’t moved would be a lie.
After all, it was rare for a girl to be so forward.
And she was doing it all just for him.
’This girl,’ Jiang Sifan thought with a helpless smile, then quickened his pace to catch up with her.
「On the way back.」
He Lingyi probed cautiously, "By the way, that jerk this afternoon said you’d brought another girl here before. Who was that?"
Jiang Sifan knew she would ask this question.
’After all, what girl wouldn’t be curious about something like that?’
So he answered her openly. "That’s my partner, for my startup. She’s in my class, too. I helped her out once by lending her my meal card, so when I started my business, she offered to help me for free. I insisted on paying her a salary, though, so I guess you could call us business partners."
"Oh, I see," He Lingyi replied. "You two went to turn in the startup application form together that day, and he saw you. Then today, he saw you with me instead of her, so that’s why he said all that."
Jiang Sifan nodded, then reassured her, "Don’t believe a word he said. You’re beautiful. Don’t let him get to you."
This piqued He Lingyi’s curiosity. "So, who’s prettier? Your partner or me?"
"Er..." Jiang Sifan stammered for a moment. "You’re both beautiful in your own way. She’s shyer, with a more reserved kind of beauty. You’re more outgoing, with an assertive kind of beauty."
"So which do you prefer? The reserved type or the assertive type?" He Lingyi pressed.
Only then did Jiang Sifan realize he’d just dug a hole for himself.
He answered awkwardly, "Well, to me, whether it’s the reserved type or the assertive type, both are beautiful."
"That’s a total non-answer," He Lingyi said, clearly unsatisfied.
Jiang Sifan quickly changed the subject. "I thought you were especially beautiful when you stood up for me earlier. You were so cool."
Sure enough, He Lingyi’s interest was immediately piqued. "Right? I thought I was pretty badass back there, too. Hehe."
After a bit more conversation, she finally dropped the subject.
Not long after, it was time for He Lingyi to get off.
Before she got out, she waved, her face beaming with happiness as she looked at Jiang Sifan. "I had so much fun today! Thank you, my dear Brother Sifan."
"Alright, alright, hurry on home," Jiang Sifan reminded her. "Get some rest. You have school tomorrow, and final exams are just a month away. You can’t afford to slack off now."
He Lingyi pouted, looking a little aggrieved. "I know, I know... I have to do practice tests every single day. It’s so annoying."
"Everyone goes through it. What high school student doesn’t do practice tests? You’ll be through it all in another six months. Hang in there, I know you can do it," Jiang Sifan encouraged.
He Lingyi nodded, then got out of the car.
After she got out, Jiang Sifan told the driver to head toward the Jinling Institute of Technology.
Just as he was about to head back to the university, Jiang Sifan got a call from his roommate, Gao Lao.
Gao Lao asked, "Sifan, has your workshop run out of work?"
"No, why do you ask?" Jiang Sifan asked, puzzled.
Gao Lao replied, "I just saw Wen Wan handing out flyers at the campus gate. I thought they were for your workshop, but it turns out they were for a new store opening. Is your startup having money problems?"
