Chillin' on an Uninhabited Island in Another World
Chapter 18: Meat Confirmation and Cosmetics
When I woke up, I was wrapped in boobs.
At some point, Chiyu had crawled into my blanket, and now she was cradling my head to her chest.
The warmth and scent of Chiyu came through her pajamas.
The ridiculously soft sensation definitely wasn’t just thanks to the wool.
“...So-kun?”
“Morning, Chiyu.”
In this situation, I really felt like I was innocent.
But the real question was, how would the judge rule?
I swallowed hard and waited a few seconds for the verdict.
Chiyu pulled me in even tighter, hugging my head to her chest.
With a squish, I was swallowed up by her ample softness.
“...So-kun, did you see the blackboard dream?”
Her body was trembling slightly.
I gently wrapped an arm around her waist and patted her back.
“Yeah, I saw it.”
—or I tried to say that.
But I was suffocating in cleavage, so it came out more like, “Fwaah, fi faw ifa fo...”
“Mmh. That tickles, So-kun.”
Okay, seriously—don’t go making seductive sounds first thing in the morning.
Mornings are already hard enough for guys.
Still lying under the blanket with me, Chiyu seemed to notice the effect she was having.
Then, for some reason, she started gently pressing her thighs and knees against me.
I paused the hand that was patting her back and moved to hug her waist—
“What, what?! What’s going on!?”
Shouko’s voice snapped me back to reality.
“...Morning, Shouko.”
Chiyu sat up like nothing had happened and turned to face the other two.
I followed her lead.
Sure, she’d been caught hugging me—but they couldn’t have seen what happened under the blanket.
If I played it off like she was just sleepwalking, I could survive this...
“Chiyu, why are you in Sousuke’s blanket?”
“Questioning sleeping-me about actions taken by sleeping-me is beyond the scope of waking-me’s responsibilities.”
That was... a very confident answer.
“Ah... got it.”
Shouko let out a noise that wasn’t quite agreement or disagreement.
“Ahaha, you two are really close.”
Shion sounded amused.
“Anyway—did everyone have the dream?”
They all nodded.
“Looks like we’re getting meat.”
“My ability didn’t work.”
“I mean, I’m glad everyone seems to be alive, but seriously—what was that dream?”
Reactions varied, but we’d definitely shared the dream.
“First thing today, I want to confirm what this ‘meat’ is. Shouko, can I borrow Mashiro?”
“Of course! Of course of course!”
...No idea what that second part meant, but I assumed it was enthusiastic consent.
“What about me and Shion?” 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
“I want you both to come too. It’s safer for us to all stick together, especially with a Fenrir like Mashiro on our side.”
Right now, I was assuming Earth-like animals...
But it wouldn’t be weird if something like “Dragon Meat (Edible)” showed up.
Just thinking about the possibility of this place being attacked while we were gone made it impossible to leave anyone behind.
“Got it.”
“Yeah, I agree with Sousuke-kun’s plan.”
With the plan in place, we all got up.
“Breakfast is grilled mushrooms again, but if things go well, we might have meat for lunch.”
By the way, I’d confirmed yesterday that Mashiro doesn’t need food.
Apparently, he can absorb energy from the air around him.
...Probably some kind of magical energy.
Come to think of it, Chiyu’s ability is Healing Magic too.
So this might actually be a magic-powered deserted island world.
“Can’t wait for meat.”
“Same. Oh, and before breakfast, I’d love to wash my face.”
“Me too.”
“Ah, good point. I’ll get some stuff set up outside.”
I opened the door, placed everyone’s indoor shoes, and we all stepped outside.
I brought out a bucket and some water so everyone could wash up.
While Shouko was fluffing Mashiro, I generated a wooden table and set it down.
I also crafted four wooden chairs, plated up grilled mushrooms and nuts on wooden dishes, and reused one of the bath barrels that dispensed water as a makeshift water server.
Once everything was ready, we all sat down to eat.
“Nom nom. The fact that you can store hot food and pull it out whenever is just ridiculously convenient, Sousuke...”
Shouko was practically moved to tears while scarfing down mushrooms.
“It’s seriously amazing. As a girl, I can’t help but wish we had cosmetics too—but I guess that’s asking too much on a deserted island.”
To me, none of them looked like they needed makeup, but I guess it still bothered them even here.
“Sousuke-kun, if you knew the ingredients, could you make some?”
“Probably? The issue is, I don’t know the ingredients...”
“If we’re talking basics, something like lotion would be water, oil, and an emulsifier.”
Chiyu answered instantly. Apparently, this was something she wanted too.
“Huh? How do you make an emulsifier?”
“With your ability, I think you could generate one from fats and oils.”
“You mean like beef tallow?”
“Basically, yeah.”
“Well, then that works. If we get meat, I might be able to make lotion too.”
Yesterday, I had generated oil from a plant source, and it was useful in Crafting—but there wasn’t much of it.
Besides making lotion, I wanted to Itemize as many plants as possible to try and get food-safe oils.
Wait—could I fry stuff with lard? If we got a wild boar, maybe I could make some...
My musing got an immediate reaction.
“Wait, seriously!? Sousuke-kun, really!?”
“Sousuke-sama, savior of us all~!”
Shion was more excited than I’d ever seen her, and Shouko had started praying to me.
“A-ah... I mean, our main goal is still the meat, but...”
I wasn’t sure they were even hearing me anymore.
The girls were completely caught up in discussing cosmetics and the ingredients they’d need.
A while later—
“Ah—sorry, Sousuke-kun. Asking you to make everything is kinda pushy, huh...”
Shion looked genuinely apologetic.
“We’ve been saying a lot, but seriously, you can ignore us if it’s too much.”
Shouko looked sheepish too.
“No, it actually helps if you tell me what you need. Of course, I’ve got to prioritize, and if something’s too hard, I might ask you to let it go. But I’d rather we talk it out and decide.”
That said, I really appreciated the fact that they weren’t treating me like some crafting butler.
“I won’t hold back. If I ask So-kun for something, I’m confident I can pay it back.”
“Haha, honestly, Chiyu being too polite would be more awkward—so yeah, you do you.”
I laughed without thinking—but her “I’ll pay it back” line sparked all kinds of mental images.
Yeah, she probably meant Basic Heal and stuff like that.
But knowing Chiyu, she might mean something else entirely...
“Pervert.”
She narrowed her eyes at me like she’d just read my mind.
“Wha—!? Hey, what was that for!?”
“Ahaha. Sousuke-kun’s really easy to read at times like this.”
“What kind of price are we gonna have to pay for lotion, exactly...?”
Okay, this whole vibe was very familiar.
Same joke beat as yesterday.
I wished they’d stop using me as the punchline...
But since I probably had a dumb expression on my face, I couldn’t really complain.
Maybe I needed to practice my poker face.
*****
After breakfast.
At the girls’ request, I crafted Wooden Combs and handed them ✪ Nоvеlіgһt ✪ (Official version) out.
When they came back out of the Hut after changing into their uniforms, I had to admit—yeah, their hair looked cleaner and neater.
Shouko’s signature side-tail was back, too.
“Mashiro, come here! Good boy~ Hey, think you can carry four of us? Ohh, you’re so strong~!”
Shouko was petting Mashiro while coaxing him with those words.
And if she said it was fine, that meant Mashiro could probably handle four riders no problem.
Fenrir really was incredible.
There was a bit of a dispute over seating order, but we ended up with Shouko up front, then Shion, then Chiyu, and me last.
Not that I’d been hoping to sit behind a busty girl so I could feel her pressing up against me while she held on tight.
Nope.
Totally fine.
I’m not disappointed at all.
