Class Awakening: Working Hard Can Evolve My Classes - Chapter 41: Coincidental Meeting, True Strength
Half an hour into the class exam, Zeke had already travelled a long way. He managed to find four more treasures over the past thirty minutes, but their rarity only fluctuated between two or three stars.
However, combining the value of all of his treasures, his treasure value already reached 1,500.
Zeke didn’t know if that was good or not since he had no one to compare with, but if Five-Star Treasures like the Sea God Amulet were as rare as their rarity suggested, then he should be in a pretty good position right now.
’Strange. I’ve been seeing a lot of other students more often now...’
Right now, Zeke was hiding behind a tree, looking through a small gap as he watched a group of students confront each other. He didn’t recognize any of them. Although he didn’t interact with his classmates often, he believed he could still recall their faces when they were in front of him.
’They should be from another class...’
Zeke thought, quietly preparing his escape. He heard that Class D’s relationship with other classes was quite tense, but he was uncertain how bad it was specifically. Regardless, he didn’t want to get entangled in any class conflict.
But the moment he turned his head around, he saw a small, pink cat step out of the back of a nearby tree.
It was around the size of an ordinary cat, but its fur was light pink, standing out like a sore thumb in the endless greenery. The light pink feline had a pair of beady, black eyes, staring at him harmlessly.
On its forehead, a small, pink gem quietly shone.
Zeke’s heart skipped a beat. His mind instantly turned active, searching for related information in his memories. But a moment later, he realized he couldn’t find any information in his mind that closely resembled the creature before him.
There were indeed monsters from the cat race, and some of them were pink as well, but they didn’t look as harmless as the pink feline in front of him. Most importantly, they didn’t have a pink gem on their forehead.
"What is this thing..."
Zeke couldn’t help but feel slightly unnerved as he finally encountered a monster he didn’t know about. He tightened his hold on his sword and assumed the Starbearer stance, getting ready just in case.
’Wait...! This is bad!’
Then, suddenly, he realized the precariousness of his current position. If he tries to fight this monster here, the group of students nearby would surely hear the commotion and discover his existence.
But if he didn’t move right away, the cat could get an advantage on him.
Stuck between a two difficult choices, Zeke’s mood turned heavy as he stared at the pink cat with a solemn expression. Just because it looked cute didn’t mean it wasn’t dangerous. The sole fact that it was cute meant he needed to be more careful!
He wasn’t someone that could be deceiv—
At that moment, a restrained giggle echoed quietly.
"Hmp.. ha...haha..." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Whose there?!"
Zeke narrowed his eyes, shouting as low as possible. He turned to where the sound came from and ended up looking upwards, his gaze stopping to a person sitting on a tree branch. A soft, silky pink hair entered his view, cascading like a waterfall.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw the pink hair.
But when he raised his gaze more and saw the person’s face, his expression instantly changed into a scowl.
Who else could it be but Seralune?
Her soft, amethyst pupils stared down at him. The hands covering her lips slowly moved away, revealing her beautiful smile.
Caught in the act, Seralune waved her hands, chuckling lightly.
"Hey, Crimson. It’s been a while~☆!"
Zeke stared at her quietly, not lowering his guard in the slightest.
"Didn’t we have a deal that you won’t talk to me again?" He spoke coldly, then added in annoyance. "Also, don’t speak too loudly. They’ll discover us."
"Did we?" Seralune tilted her head. She closed her eyes and put a finger on her forehead, seemingly deep in thought. A moment later, she slammed her fist on her palm. "Oh, right! It was that time! But you’re a customer of our shop, how could I possibly ignore you?"
Zeke felt a vein pop on his forehead. "Unwilling customer that is. We made a deal that I’ll buy a flower in your shop, and then you won’t talk to me in the academy."
"Really?" Seralune covered her lips. "I don’t remember that, but we’re not in the academy anyway, right? So this is fine."
Zeke suddenly paused.
’... Wait. She’s right."
Technically, they were in a dungeon.
Seemingly resigning to his fate, he let out a heavy sigh.
"What do you want?"
"How rude, can’t I just greet a friend?" Seralune smiled. "Hey, hey, how much treasure value have you accumulated?"
Hearing her question, Zeke hesitated for a moment. But at that moment, a commotion broke out from the group of students nearby. He turned around to see what happened and realized that they had started fighting.
His expression changed slightly.
"Let’s talk somewhere else. We might get caught into their mess."
"Hai, hai~!"
Seralune shouted in a low voice.
Just before Zeke stealthily walked away, her voice softened as she made a sudden request.
"Psypi, can you help us find a spot?"
The pink feline that Zeke had forgotten responded to her call, looking at her with a smile.
"Psy, psy!"
"... It’s hers?"
Zeke was dumbfounded, freezing on his tracks. But before he could process everything happening so far, Seralune recklessly jumped off the tree, gently landing on the ground by hovering her body in the air.
’A psychic ability?’
Zeke was slightly at a loss.
Seeing him distracted, Seralune walked up to him and chuckled.
"Let’s go, they might discover us, detective! Come on!"
’... Damn it.’
Zeke sighed inwardly, recalling some public information about Seralune. During these past few days, he did extensive research on the situation in his batch. He looked at the leaderboards, the rumors, and the what happened over the past month before he transferred.
It wasn’t obvious at all since Seralune’s personality didn’t fit that kind of strength, but...
"She’s a top 10 student, after all."
He muttered under his breath.
When he first saw her name in the academy leaderboards, he wasn’t sure what to think at first...
But then, recalling their first meeting, it struck him that perhaps he was underestimating her too much. Seralune was Professor Cybele’s student assistant. No one gets to become a student assistant without the talent or strength to back it up.
"Tch."
Zeke clicked his tongue, feeling inexplicably annoyed. It was like the most annoying person you knew ended up being smarter than you. He sighed then then quickly followed her. He was tempted to run in a different direction, but considering Seralune’s personality, he’d rather not deal with her childishness.
"Huh? Did you say something?"
Seralune perked her ears, suddenly stopping.
Zeke was startled, bumping on her back. He felt a vein pop on his forehead.
"No! Keep walking!"
"Hai~ hai~"
