Con-man instructions on how to live as a Noble
Chapter 71 - Trials of the tree
Silas stepped inside the barrier and almost instantly he noticed the minor change in the air. To the normal people, it felt like an average forest with thick trees, filtering the harsh sun.
But for Silas, he noticed the sensation of gazes, looking at him from all directions. It was not from the instinct he honed his entire life but such a unique sensation nevertheless.
The feeling was akin to sensing the gazes of the water when showering, especially when your head was covered with shampoo and can’t see anything.
Silas smiled and reached to the nearby tree. He touched the tree and felt the mana inside. It was vast and vast. With this kind of mana, he was a bit surprised that the tree was small.
He placed his foot on the ground and looked around the surroundings. Excluding the vast mana, the scenery was like a normal forest from Earth.
"Where should we go?" Roland asked from the side, also looking around his enhanced eyes. "Does everything look the same to me?"
Silas nodded. "Looks like we need to search every inch."
He began his search for the tears. There was nothing coming inside his small mind. He knew for sure that Prostitution Queen would know where to search since she had the calling in her heart.
No such thing for Silas so he did the old fashioned way.
It didn’t take that long since the forest was not that vast and he had two pairs of eyes looking around.
Roland was the first to notice the strange tree. The appearance was the same as every other in here. But the only difference was a snake like vine, warped around the trunk.
They arrived in front of the tree and observed. Silas wanted to fire Pierce for curiosity but held back. It was probably a rude thing to do.
The tree sensed his intentions and released the wave of energy, consuming him entirely.
As his heart seized and his knees buckled and agony ripped through his body. Silas felt the icy grip of fear held him right. It choked his throat with force that was not strong or weak.
Roland took the sword, wondering what had gotten to Silas.
"What happened? Should I cut down the tree?" He asked, channeling the energy into his sword.
Silas shook his head, he tried to but the invisible grip held him tight. So he wrote the word on the ground.
"No."
Roland looked down and nodded, his face unconvinced.
Silas tried to remain calm, thinking about his situation.
"Ah, another loop breaker." A chill whispered calmly to his head.
"It seems so but I don’t sense any divinity from him. Is he an outcast?" Another voice echoed.
"You are right, tree. I don’t sense divinity at all. Strange. Strange. He didn’t seem like an outcast as he didn’t even have a hint of divinity."
"Maybe. You can hear us right? Loop breaker."
Silas felt something or someone called out. He nodded.
"Good. Good. Which one of the voices can you hear? Me or the snake." The tree responded.
Silas opened his mouth and nothing came up as the grip was still holding.
The tree noticed him and asked the snake. "Release him, snake. He can’t speak?"
"Yeah. Yeah. I am just bored."
"Oh, you are not. I know what you will do when you are bored. Now speak, Loop breaker. Which one of us do you hear? I know you hear mine but did you hear another voice?"
"Yes. I hear both." Silas answered.
"Six."
"Seven."
Both sounds said simultaneously.
Silas was puzzled and asked. "What is that? Is this some kind of code? Eight."
"We are just testing, Loop breaker." The tree said. "Seems like you really hear us. It is surprising."
"Not many people will hear your voice?" Silas asked.
"Only the fated one, the one who can hold our gift." The snake said. "But not all can get our gift. I am still waiting for my fate."
"I cut those and decided to judge with my own eyes." The tree said. "So do you want my gift, Loop breaker?"
Silas nodded. "Yes, World tree."
Then, a short silence ensued.
"Then, passed my trials and gain my gift."
Silas was about to speak, suddenly he found himself in the familiar room. The room was so familiar to him that he could walk blindfolded.
Electric light flickered, blinking in and out of the light. He saw his own shadow moving.
If he was correct, on the right side was the mirror. The purpose was to glance at the back without turning around but this time the use was different.
He found himself. His face was him. The face of C.C, the con-man from earth.
Why did he come here? Ah, the trial. He remembered something about the trial he had to pass.
But why this?
Silas formed. No.. was he really Silas in this world? Can he use this name?
The man frowned and sat down on the bed, clenching his head tightly. He was lost but immediately reasoned the situation he was in.
Since the place was likely related to the trial, he needed to do something to pass.
"Hey, tree." He called out the tree but met with nothing. "Nothing. Looks like I am in a blind situation."
Silas resumed his name and stood up. Since he was in a blind situation, he needed to gather the information. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
This world was likely created from his memories. But he needed to know the time he was in.
Silas stood and went to the closest, he selected the black hoodie and a pair of sunglasses to alter his face somewhat.
He wore everything and walked to the door. He didn’t have any phone or clock in this house to check the time. The place was truly a safe haven for him.
Only two people knew about this place. Well, it was two until the mafia discovered this place, dragged him out and tortured him to the death.
When he was about to reach the door handle, it turned and opened abruptly leaving him hanging. Silas moved and about to strike but the figure dodged to the side and grabbed his arm, attempting to throw him.
But Silas stepped backward, using the wall as a support to hold his body down. His body was not the same as before. Although he lacked the energy to increase his physique, his original body was a towering 6 ft tall, packed with muscles from training.
He lifted up the figure and threw it to the bed.
"It is me, Cain. It is me Lura." The figure spoke with a soft laugh.
