Conflux System: I Can Merge Anything
Chapter 76: Before The God Turns His Head
Some people need a theology of an angry god to justify their anger against sinners.
Zane knew that so he always stayed cautious of not sinning.
Right now, he walked towards the Cathedral of the First Flame.
He had the Relic of the Emberlord Coin with him and he would return it as fast as possible.
The front entrance of the Cathedral was closed at the moment, not that Zane was entering from there.
The man behind the counter had told Zane to go from the backside and he would do just that.
Surprisingly, there were less people around the area. And they were mostly Priests or Lectors.
None of them paid attention to Zane as they walked here and there occasionally.
Zane wasn’t afraid of being questioned anyway. He had a good reason to be here. Also, he had the idol of the First Flame in the plastic bag with him. He can always call himself an ardent believer.
His right hand stayed over his pocket, feeling the relic all the time.
This was made from a portion of the slab itself. It should also hold some power then. Like it should also hold the Conflux system. If I keep touching it with my bare hands, will my Convergence increase?
No windows appeared and Zane figured he must be wrong.
But then...
[ Ding! ]
The system made a sound.
What now?
[ Temporary Permanent Mandatory Quest Generated! ]
[ Quest: Vessel Hassle ]
[ Objective: Increase your physical strength. ]
[ Tasks:- 4 ]
[ 1. Punch a hard wall hundred times with full force with each hand daily. ]

[ 3. Lift a heavy object more than ten kilos with both hands hundred times daily. ]
[ 4. Run one kilometers daily. ]
[ Rewards: Vessel Status +1% daily ]
[ Failure: Convergence stays low. Conflux System stays as it is. ]
[ Time Limit: Nil ]
[ Permission not required. ]
[ Quest Accepted! ]
Many windows manifested in front of Zane’s eyes.
He stopped walking as his vision was blocked.
He read all the details and let out a heavy sigh.
Just when I was talking about Convergence, you arrived. And what do you mean Conflux System stays as it is?
[ Do you not want to know about Coflux System more? ]
Of course I want to know.
[ Then get stronger to contain more of Conflux inside you. ]
Alright. The quest is already accepted anyway. But what is temporary permanent?
[ The Quest will stay active as long as Conflux system wants you to do the tasks. ]
I’ll get the one percent reward daily, right? And isn’t it kind of less compared to the tasks you have given me?
[ You will get that reward daily. And it is not less. The effects will compound. You will see for yourself. ]
If you say so. I should befriend some healers for my fists and legs.
Zane laughed as the windows vanished.
He increased his pace, in fact, he started running.
Might as well start the tasks from now.
He wouldn’t be able to run one kilometre right now as the Cathedral was closer to him.
He ran as long as he reached in front of the pointed building.
But he had to go behind it so he walked.
He won’t arrive running to the Emberlord Coin. He needed his breath and calmness to talk with the Priest without making any mistake.
He walked to the side of the building and finally reached the corner to turn left.
He turned left and as he expected, two Enforcers stood.
Even the back door has guards.
Zane didn’t panic and shifted his head down.
The Enforcers didn’t bat an eye until Zane arrived in front of the door they guarded.
"What do you want?" One Enforcer asked.
Zane flinched.
I know that voice.
He didn’t raise his head.
"I want to see the Emberlord Coin. I have something to return to him."
"Show your face, first." The other Enforcer spoke and this time, Zane shivered.
"Raise your head." The Enforcer spoke again and not wanting to make them angry, he raised his head.
Their eyes met.
Their eyes widened.
Just my luck.
What Zane was afraid of, happened. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
He figured out why he knew the voice.
The Enforcers tightened their grip on their spears as their jaw tightened.
The two men stared at Zane with the eyes of a predator and their reaction was what he expected.
These two Enforcers were none other than those whom he had some skirmish with.
One was Kairon. The Enforcer who wanted to shove his baton inside Zane’s mouth.
And the second one was the Enforcer whom Zane had rebelled against when the system had taken over his body.
He was afraid of meeting one of them alone but now he met both of them together.
"It’s you. There is no one to save you this time." Kairon said, stepping forward.
"He is mine, Kairon. He dared to raise his hand against me. His kind should be reminded of their place regularly."
The other Enforcer stepped forward as well.
Zane stepped back and weighed his options.
He can’t outrun them.
He can’t fight and even if he fights, he won’t be able to kill them. And if they weren’t dead, they would not stop coming after him.
His eyes stuck to both of them as the red wooden door loomed between them.
Emberlord coin was probably behind the door and once Zane went inside, he shall be safe.
"Wait." Zane shouted.
The Enforcers stopped.
Zane stopped walking backwards and shoved his hand inside the pocket.
The Enforcers pointed their spears at him but when they saw he had no weapon, they lowered it. But not to the point of letting him go.
Zane took out the relic from his pocket and raised it in the air.
"This is not a normal coin. This is a relic. It belongs to the Emberlord Coin. He had specifically ordered me to return this to him. Only I should return it to him. If something happened to me, he wouldn’t like it. And if you keep me here for long, he will come outside himself and see that it’s you two who are wasting his time. He will be angry. Very angry. So move and let me go inside."
The relic had a slight glow on it and it was enough to portray its importance.
The Enforcers looked at each other and spat on the ground.
"Fine. You may go."
They stood to the sides of the door again.
Zane heaved a sigh of relief and walked forward to the normal wooden door.
He reached out his hand to open the door but before he could...
"But remember this..." Kairon held Zane’s hand.
He peered deep inside the soul of the young man.
"If I received the order to kill you from anyone, I wouldn’t wait for their change of mind."
He let go of Zane’s hand and opened the door for him.
Zane stood outside the door, calling back the composure of his heart.
Finally, getting his breath back, with death looming over his shoulders, he went inside.
