Contract Marriage: Billionaire and His Deaf Wife
Chapter 1399: It’s Time to Settle Things (Part 1)
"Aren’t you going back?"
Zhang Sanfeng lowered his head to look at the phone in his hand. Hearing the voice, he looked up and saw Zhong Qiaohui standing at the door of his room.
"You mean me—"
"Yes, aren’t you worried?" Zhong Qiaohui said, "I know you care more about your brother than I do."
Zhang Sanfeng looked at her for a moment. "Aren’t you worried about her?"
Zhong Qiaohui shook her head. "I can’t even manage myself right now." After saying this, she turned around and left, disappearing from the doorway.
After she left, Zhan Dapeng shuffled in and said to Zhang Sanfeng, "The last time she wanted to buy something at the pharmacy, I asked. It wasn’t for gastrointestinal medicine; it was for painkillers."
"Painkillers?"
"Yes." Zhan Dapeng sought his advice. "Should we take her to the hospital to see what the doctor says? She must be really ill if she’s buying painkillers."
Zhang Sanfeng shook his head. "No need."
"Aren’t you worried about her?"
"She wouldn’t want to go to the hospital."
"But being sick like this isn’t a solution." Zhan Dapeng worriedly planned for him, "To be honest, if something happens to her, you’ll suffer too—"
Zhang Sanfeng’s expression and tone didn’t change as he said, "I’ve already considered that."
"Hmm?"
"Whatever she suffers, I will endure with her. It’s something I owe her, and I must repay it."
Seeing his heroic sense of sacrifice, Zhan Dapeng patted him on the shoulder. "Don’t talk about owing anyone. Although I’ve never been in love, my second brother said love is mutual and there’s no such thing as owing. If you approach love with a mindset of owing, there’s definitely a problem."
Zhang Sanfeng took in what Dabai said, turned the wheelchair, and gazed out the window.
Evening came.
Before they could receive any news from Xiao Yebai, something happened on their side first.
During dinner, when they went to call Zhong Qiaohui to come downstairs to eat, they found her door locked. Remembering her earlier physical condition, Zhang Sanfeng and Zhan Dapeng were very nervous.
After finding hotel staff to unlock the door, they saw her lying on the bed in a sweat, in unbearable pain.
Zhan Dapeng repeatedly said, "Take her to the hospital."
Zhong Qiaohui opened her eyes and looked at Zhang Sanfeng.
Zhang Sanfeng nodded to her. "Don’t worry, I will take you to a safe place."
Zhong Qiaohui closed her eyes and passed out.
A helicopter was summoned, and the two carried Zhong Qiaohui onto the aircraft, rushing her to New York City.
On the way, Zhang Sanfeng called Gu Nuan to get in touch.
"Sister-in-law, Qiaohui is seriously ill and doesn’t trust the doctors here. I heard Dr. Ou is with you?"
Gu Nuan was startled to hear about her illness and asked, "What’s the situation?"
Zhang Sanfeng said, "She said her stomach hurts, but she hasn’t been to a hospital to check it. Once, she went to a pharmacy to buy painkillers. I think she might know the cause of the pain herself."
Hearing what Zhang Sanfeng said, Gu Nuan immediately understood. After hanging up, Gu Nuan walked to her eldest son’s room and knocked on the door twice.
Inside the room, Ou Yanan was helping the child with math problems.
Lingxin listened intently, amazed, "Uncle really is a genius."
Ou Yanan smiled and patted the child’s head.
Gu Nuan opened the door, and both the adult and the child turned to look at her.
"What’s going on?" Ou Yanan asked.
