"ROAAAAAAR!!!"

Xiu Mei jumped back in fright hearing the lion's fierce and loud roar. Instantly, she moved behind Lu Chen's making him as her shield in case the lion suddenly jumps on her and eats her alive. She unconsciously took hold of Lu Chen's shoulders as she nervously scanned the green and wide area in front of her. Noticing her actions, Lu Chen couldn't help but slightly curl his lips up in amus.e.m.e.nt.

So, she is a scaredy-cat, eh.

If Xiu Mei ever hears his thoughts, she would definitely retort back.

Who in the right mind wouldn't be afraid of being eaten alive by a live lion, right?! That's king of the jungle you know! It would just take a few bites for her to be eaten completely. She may not be even left with bones you know.

"W-Woah! W-wait! Where are you going?!" Xiu Mei almost screamed, her fright causing her to stutter. She quickly pulled back Lu Chen who was going to take his first step forward. She gripped his clothes so tightly she knew she had officially messed up his well-ironed attire but she could care less.

If she were to choose, she'd rather die by the hands of Lu Chen rather than a wild animal.

A few years later, this decision of hers would one of her greatest regrets accompanied by a usual pain on her back caused by the beast. Yeah, THE beast. *wink*

"We'd have to go in." Lu Chen turned his head as he answered her.

"B-but…"

Lu Chen's eyes glinted as he planned in his mind whether he should take advantage of this chance to tease her more.

Xiu Mei saw Lu Chen's expression change in a split second, and before she could react, she suddenly felt dizzy. She realized she was floating—no, someone was holding her up.

She felt someone's arms under her legs, and the other behind her back supporting her upper body. Extremely startled by the sudden change of position, she whipped her head to look at Lu Chen.

She prayed in her mind that Lu Chen wouldn't feel how quick her pulse was at this moment because damn it, she really couldn't calm herself down with the sudden princess carry Lu Chen had done to her.

Xiu Mei was too preoccupied with her thoughts that she failed to notice that they've now finally passed the gates. They've now officially entered the den of the animals who live in the wild a.k.a. Lu Qiang's pets.

"How are they?" Lu Chen spoke to the person who bowed in front of him. Xiu Mei turned her head to the person Lu Chen was speaking to and saw a black-haired man in brown safari uniform. Just like Lu Chen, this person also displayed a stoic expression much to Xiu Mei's expectations.

So far, from Lu Qiang to Lu Chen's subordinates, she had observed that all of them donned an indifference and stoic look that would unconsciously be avoided by a lot of people. Seriously, was this part of the requirements to be Lu Chen's subordinates? Because Xiu Mei should really be thankful that he wasn't in charge of the HR department way before.

If he did, Xiu Mei would turn crazy working with such people.

"All of Young Master's pets are in good condition. Since young master plays with them every so often, the animals are quite familiar with him and would often look for him whenever he's not around." The guy explained.

Xiu Mei's eyes darted back and forth to the two guys as she kept still in Lu Chen's arms.

How did that guy report so normally to Lu Chen as if what he was reporting some normal topic? Hell, they were talking about some pets missing Lu Qiang!!

And she was quite the pets they were talking about wasn't the kind of pets she was thinking about.

Giving a slight nod to the person, Lu Chen continued on his way as he opened yet another metal door.

Xiu Mei watched Lu Chen's movements in opening the door.

"ROAAAAR!!"

"WAAAH!!" Xiu Mei cried out as her arms automatically looped on Lu Chen's neck as she buried herself in his shoulders.

She was hugging Lu Chen as tight as she could like she never planned to separate from Lu Chen anymore. She was holding on so tight to him as she heard a soft growl of the white striped animal behind her. Her body trembled in fright as she prayed to all the gods that she knew of in her mind.

Would she suddenly become one of Lu Qiang's pet's dinner if she wasn't careful enough?

"Lucia, get back." Lu Chen's voice ordered.

Hearing a light growl, the white tiger obediently walked off after greeting its owner.

Seeing the tiger walk away, Lu Chen shifted his attention to the person who was now snuggling herself in his arms. He couldn't stop himself from smiling in triumph as he was completely amused by how his plan went well.

Now, she wouldn't even notice how he had been taking advantage of her unguardedness right at this moment.
