Chapter 64 - Fight

"Hack their system." Was what Lu Chen ordered as he marched back to his office as he kept the phone in his ears. Approaching his table, he opened one of his drawers and inside, buttons lay in hidden. Encoding a string of numbers, the sound of something shifting gears could be heard.

Lu Chen stopped in front of one of his slidings cabinets with mirrors. Sliding it open, instead of the usual file storages inside, it became a metal lift similar to their normal elevators.

Pushing a couple of buttons, the lift finally started to go descend.

Lu Chen continued on listening in on the other line. He realized that Xiu Mei must've not known the call was connected as he continued to hear the exchange of gunfires. His anxiousness grew as he didn't hear anymore of Xiu Mei's voice on the other line.

As he grew even grimmer by the second, the voice he was anxiously worried for finally spoke up.

"Hello?"

"Xiu Mei!"

On the bas.e.m.e.nt parking lot, Xiu Mei lightened up when he heard Lu Chen's voice. She didn't understand why but she knew that she could rely on Lu Chen. That Xiu Mei could really count on him.

He was that kind of president for her.

"Are you alright? Where are you right now?" She could feel the lace of worry in his voice. But she didn't have enough time to dwell on that as she answered his questions quickly.

"In the bas.e.m.e.nt, behind one of the pill--AH!"

Xiu Mei almost jumped in surprise as she saw a bullet suddenly go past her. However, she was able to quickly get over her shock and turned to the strange guy who pulled her just in time to avoid the stray bullet.

"Thanks…" She muttered to him. The guy did not respond but instead spoke in a code.

"Miss Xiu, the moonflower that blooms in the sun."

Completely forgetting the call she had, Xiu Mei stopped on her tracks. Realization dawned on her as she stared back at the guy in front of her, whom she had suspected as an enemy.

And now, with just one line, he was able to make her believe that he was really working under his brother's orders.

The moonflower that blooms in the sun….

It was the story that her second brother loved to tell her when she was still little.

"Xiu Mei? Xiu Mei? Are you still okay right there?" Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound coming from the phone. She finally remembered that she was just talking with Lu Chen on the phone!

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." She quickly spoke as she turned to the guard that was assigned by her brother to protect her.

"I'll come with you." She nodded, finally believing him. The guy spoke in a hushed tone again before falling into silence. A second later, he finally gestured to her to follow him.

Hugging her phone into her chest, she quickly followed the guy. Since there were almost no cars on the parking lot with most of the employees already went home, it was quite difficult to find some cover from the exchanging bullets.

They crawled behind the cars, and before they could reach the next pillar, a couple of men went and blocked their way.

Shit! Xiu Mei almost cursed as she took a step back. The guy stood in front of her, distancing her from the three men in black in front of her.

"Miss Xiu, in a few seconds, when I give you the signal, you have to run to the other side of the parking lot." The guy whispered to her.

She could just nod at his instructions as it didn't really seem the perfect time to ask questions.

"Hand her over." One of the three men spoke, his voice rough and deep that it was actually kind of scary. It sounded just like the voices of the mafias she had watched in a movie before.

"Not unless you get past me." The guy who was protecting her replied. She felt something cold on her other hand so she lowered her gaze.

Seeing the pistol being handed to her by the guy, she shifted her gaze at the back of his head and back to the thing in her hand. After contemplating on it a little more, she quickly accepted the pistol. It was a Beretta 92FS and was one of the guns she had experienced shooting with.

She tightly gripped onto the pistol as she returned her gaze at the three men threatening them at the moment.

She is unaware of the fighting skills of this guy in front of her, but she was pretty sure that it would still be a bit difficult for him to defeat these three guys. After all, the people in front of them seemed to be really strong.

Her self-defense skills… she should not really mention that. That might be helpful with perverts and some people, but if compared with experts, she would undoubtedly lose in just a second.

Putting her finger in the trigger, Xiu Mei braced herself in the incoming attack.

At least with the gun, she has a chance in fighting back.

"Then die." The guy arrogantly replied and in just a second, the three of them spread out completely surrounding her.

The three guys finally launched their attack, and Xiu Mei felt herself being pulled down by the guy beside her. She was now crouching down as she watched her guard exchanging blows with the other party as he shifted in positions everytime to prevent them from approaching her.

"Watch out!" She anxiously warned at the guy as she saw one of the three pulling out something from his suits. She instantly knew that he was trying to pull out a gun and her hand seemed to have its own mind as it moved on its own.

Smoothly removing the safety switch, she quickly aimed at the third man and shot.

Everything seemed to happen so slowly as she was quickly pulled away from behind and pushed to the ground. She heard a couple more gunshots but she wasn't able to see anything as it felt like the world suddenly flipped upside down. She felt her head hitting something hard, and instantly she felt dizzy. Lying down, her vision was shifted to her phone that was now broken apart on the ground.

Dark spots spread in her vision, and before she was completely engulfed with darkness, she swore she had heard that one voice she was very familiar with yet, with an unfamiliar tone that she had never heard before.

"XIU MEI!"
