Counterfeit Hero
Chapter 1192 - 17: Raid on the Camp
In October 2063, the Resk War further escalated.
According to intelligence sent back by agents embedded in the Western Alliance, the Suss Empire and Jiepeng Empire are preparing to reinforce the Resk Star System once again. This time, Emperor O’Brady III and Emperor Nicholas V have decided to set aside all suspicions and cooperate sincerely to fight together. They are determined to win the Resk Battle at all costs!
This battle is exceedingly important for both empires.
The Suss Empire’s situation need not be elaborated. Since the war began, Suss has reinforced five times, deploying their main forces. They have already lost at least thirty A-level fleets, over two hundred armored divisions, and six hundred fully mechanized infantry divisions in the Southeast Battle Zone. Currently, the main force of the Resk Main Army is besieged on Leifeng Star, in grave danger.
And Jiepeng isn’t doing much better than Suss. Suss’ main battlefield is Resk, but the place where Jiepeng suffered the most severe military losses is the Bermuda Star System of Leray. As the main attack force against Leray, Jiepeng encountered Leray’s nearly insane resistance. Of the six major military districts that fought alternately, three were exhausted!
Now, Mikami Yuto has deployed both the Thunderbolt and Storm Super Fleets, along with eight Suss A-level Fleets, into Resk. If something goes wrong in Resk, it would mean disaster for both empires.
Determined, O’Brady and Nicholas issued consecutive decrees for the first nationwide mobilization since the war broke out. All reserves were transferred to active service, retired soldiers were recalled, and military budgets increased. All troops were placed on second-level combat readiness, with all leaves canceled. The munitions factories and shipyards ramped up their production. Even military academy cadets were outfitted and assigned to basic units.
Meanwhile, the two countries signed a Royal Cooperation Treaty to establish a unified command center. They also dispatched envoys to Desic, the Naga Federation, and the Binart Empire, seeking the Western Alliance’s support.
On October 5th, Mikami Yuto ordered an attack on Leifeng Star, disregarding that Canglang Star was not yet fully controlled.
Considering the destruction of the Hanfrey Fleet, Binart’s aggressive offense on Karsdon Star River, and the current strategic deployment of the Fei Alliance forces, this seemingly student-like, diminutive Jiepeng General quickly seized the strategic key of the battle.
He aimed to expand their advantage before the Fei Alliance completed their reinforcements, fully preparing for the next stage of the Resk Battle!
On October 6th, the Mikami Yuto Fleet engaged in battle with the intercepting Chuckna 9th Fleet for four hours in the airspace of Leifeng Star’s second satellite. The 9th Fleet retreated. On the same day, the Suss Empire’s Resk Main Army Fleet, which had been avoiding engagement with Chuckna and operating on the periphery of the Resk Star System, joined forces with Mikami Yuto, advancing towards Leifeng Star.
On October 7th, the Fei Alliance United Fleet, under the command of Qian Bolin, avoided a decisive battle with the Mikami Yuto Fleet. Their defense system was dismantled and reformed into harassment and delay tactics. The fleets closely coordinated, taking turns to ambush the Mikami Yuto Fleet.
The situation in the space battle rapidly became complicated due to the Fei Alliance Joint Army’s tactical changes. Both camps, centered on Resk, engaged in entangled skirmishes and assaults at various jump channels and obstacle areas.
On October 8th, the Su Jie Alliance Army landed on the northern hemisphere Fren Plain of Leifeng Star. Due to the threats and harassment by the Fei Alliance Fleet on the interstellar channels, follow-up troop deployments were slow.
Even so, the main forces of the Suss Resk Main Army, besieged for days, managed to catch their breath. Under Qian Bolin’s command, the Fei Alliance Joint Army swiftly shifted from a strategic offensive to a strategic defensive stance, constructing defenses across major battle zones on a large scale.
From this point on, the Resk Battle entered a stalemate phase.
It was clear to any observant person that Fei Alliance reinforcements to Resk were imminent, and while Mikami Yuto could gain some advantages against the elusive Qian Bolin, he could not annihilate them in one fell swoop. This meant that Resk would truly become a meat grinder for a long time to come. As the battle intensified and both sides continued to pour in troops, this star system would be filled with the lonely souls of the dead!
Everyone turned their eyes to their own national mobilization efforts and towards Leifeng Star. As for Canglang Star, it was scarcely mentioned anymore.
In the eyes of the Western Alliance people, Canglang Star was fully occupied, and the eradication of the remaining Fei Alliance stragglers was only a matter of time. Canglang Star was their forward base.
For the Chuckna people, Canglang Star had become a perpetual heartache!
Countless cities were turned into ruins, over a million residents died, and tens of millions were displaced. Six armored divisions and ten infantry divisions, just rotated back from the front line, vanished overnight—among them, their most revered Marshal Li Cunxin.
Li Cunxin held an esteemed reputation in Chuckna. Although he hadn’t personally led troops for many years, he was a banner for all Chuckna people and soldiers. Now, half of the Chuckna military’s generals were his former subordinates.
Upon learning of the Marshal’s entrapment behind enemy lines, countless people broke down in tears, and innumerable prayers were offered with tears.
Should the Marshal fall, it would be the most grievous loss since Chuckna’s war began. The Military Department and the Presidential Office had even begun preparing for mourning. However, due to the lack of definite news, they held back for the time being.
Now, nobody dared to mention Canglang Star. The generals who had followed Marshal Li for years would turn red-eyed at the mere mention of it. They paced around their campgrounds every day, mobilizing and assembling troops with steel-blue faces, preparing tirelessly day and night.
