Chapter 410: Wedding morning
Braelyn’s POV
The wedding morning was chaos. It wasn’t the first time I was getting married. I have been this nervous before but bloody hell this was the first time I was pregnant during my wedding.
Although it was barely 2 months and there was no bump, the morning sickness was brutal. I was slumped in my seat crying my eyes out after throwing up the hundredth time. "I feel like hell. My last pregnancy wasn’t like this." I whined.
Francesca who was helping herself with some snacks couldn’t help but laugh. "Honey that’s because it was a girl. I am certain your current baby is a boy. " she chirped throwing a grape into her mouth. My hand instinctively reached for my stomach.
"Are you sure?" I asked. I have indeed heard rumours about male pregnancies being difficult. She nodded. "I am very positive it is a boy as a boy mum of 3." She affirmed. I wanted to cry my emotions were all over the place.
Before I could even cry my stomach squirmed and I jolted up running straight for the bathroom. I didn’t even bother closing the door and just started throwing up in the toilet. Francesca followed after looking very worried
"What is taking that boy so long? We barely have a few hours until the time." She complained pulling out her phone.
She had informed her son to get some pills to help with the morning sickness, so it wouldn’t ruin my big day.
I heard the main door open with fast footsteps approaching as the heels clicked furiously on the floor. "Braelyn..." I heard Charlotte’s voice. Francesca’s sister-in-law.
Francesca moved out of the room. I could hear her voice over my gagging sounds. "Did you get the pills?" She asked.
Charlotte’s voice came in next.." I ran into Alex and he handed it over to me." Charlotte replied. She stepped into the bathroom just in time to see me flushing the toilet..
"Oh dear," her face was filled with concern. "You don’t look good. Take your drugs so that we can start heading out." She urged shoving the medication in my hand.
Her fingers brushed the tears that rolled down my cheek while I was gagging. "If you don’t feel well the wedding can always be moved." She suggested and I firmly opposed shaking my head.
I know how excited Lucien was for today. I wanted this too and a little morning sickness wouldn’t ruin my day.
I held her hand. "I can manage. Let the make-up artist and stylist come in." I said about to pull away but Charlotte’s grip tightened on my wrist. Her gaze settled on my tummy, and before I knew it she was placing her hand on my stomach.
It wasn’t a secret in the Voss family Charlotte came from a family of mediums and could see things the normal eyes wouldn’t. I was observing her actions wondering if there was something wrong with the baby.
She shook her head. "Although my gift isn’t strong I can feel something." She said pulling back her hand. "Your babies are fine," she said and a breath escaped in a gasp.
"Babies.." I said. She nodded. "I can feel two forces in there and one is special." She explained and my brows furrowed
"All my children are special. " I blurted out trying to understand what she meant.
She gave me a smile. "You will know when you meet him. Fate is crazy at times." She laughed before patting me. "I would leave you to get ready." Charlotte walked out leaving me dumbfounded.
I instinctively reached for my flat tummy. Surprised by everything and also excited. So it was twins, I couldn’t wait to meet them.
A few minutes later I stepped out of the bathroom after taking my drugs and brushing my teeth before my mouth tasted funny. The stylist and make-up artist were already waiting.
"Madam.." they both chimed. I nodded then took my seat. It was going to be a long day today. The wedding was scheduled at noon with the reception in the evening because of the fireworks later that night.
It wasn’t my first lavish wedding or first time being a bride but it was still exhausting work. Finally, after what felt like forever I was ready.
I stood in front of the mirror and forgot how to breathe.
For a moment, I just stared at my reflection, trying to process what I was seeing. It almost did not feel like me. You wouldn’t believe it was the same woman who had been hunched over a toilet earlier, crying and swearing at the universe.
This version of me looked... composed and radiant like a woman about to marry her loyal puppy. The dress was nothing like the one I wore the first time I got married.
That one was a mermaid tail dress that clung to my body, shaped every curve, and left no room to hide. It was beautiful but this dress felt different. Because I am not that girl from 7 years ago.
The bodice of the dress fit snug against me, and soft lace was layered in beautiful detail. The neckline dipped gently, exposing my shoulders, and the sleeves rested lightly against my arms.
From my waist down, the dress opened into full volume. Layers of fabric flowed outward, falling into a long train that stretched behind me. When I shifted my weight, it moved with me, almost weightless despite how grand it looked. Tiny diamonds were embedded into the dress catching the light as I moved. I felt like a princess.
I lifted my hand and brushed my fingers over it. It was perfect
"Wow," Genny breathed from behind me.
I met her gaze through the mirror. She already had her phone out, snapping pictures like she had been waiting her whole life for this moment.
"You are actually going to steal Lucien’s breath," she said, grinning. "I am not even joking. That man is going to forget his own name when he sees you."
I huffed out a small laugh. "You are being dramatic."
"I am being honest," she shot back, taking another picture. "If he does not cry, I will personally drag him aside and ask what is wrong with him."
That made me laugh properly, my hand moved to my stomach without thinking, resting there lightly.
Genny noticed and smiled. "You look happy Brae," she said.
I held her gaze through the mirror for a second before nodding. "I am," I said and I meant it.
A knock sounded before the door opened. Elliot stepped in, his eyes landing on me. He paused, clearly not expecting what he saw.
"Well," he said after a second, a faint smirk forming. "Lucien is done for."
Genny burst out laughing. "Exactly."
Elliot shook his head, still looking at me. "Are you ready? It is time. Francesca and Charlotte already left for the chapel."
My heart skipped. So this was it.
I turned back to the mirror one last time, taking everything in. The nerves were still there, but they did not feel overwhelming. I drew in a breath and nodded.
"I am ready."
