Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension
Chapter 1742 - 935: The Five Types of Immortals, the Demon Master’s Avatars
Not long afterward,
Zhao Hongyun quietly departed, leaving behind a Jade Pupil Scroll and a splendid Fire Lotus.
At the peak of the Grotto Heaven, Zhao Sheng sighed with a sense of longing, then flicked his finger, and that splendid Fire Lotus soared into the sky, drifting towards the Great Sun suspended above.
The Fire Lotus was like a flowing flame, instantly rushing into the depths of the Great Sun, disappearing without a trace.
At this moment, within the deepest part of the Great Sun, a sudden silhouette of human-shaped flame appeared, equally splendid and radiant, strangely similar to the Fire Lotus.
After the Fire Lotus entered the depths of the Great Sun, it soon fell into the hands of the human-like flame, and then was swallowed whole.
The Second Ancestor Zhao Hongyun also practiced the "Fire Extinguishing Immortal Technique".
The splendid Fire Lotus was the result of him cultivating this Immortal Technique to the Great Achievement Realm, now left for Zhao Sheng as a reference.
Meanwhile, the Avatar Dongzhenzi handed the Jade Pupil Scroll to the True Body.
"It is said that when one person attains the Tao, even chickens and dogs ascend to the heavens! This statement is mostly false with a hint of truth... Ancient tales speak of five types of immortals: Heaven, Earth, Human, Spirit, Ghost!
Heavenly Immortals are united with the Tao and achieve perfect merit... On the day of attaining the Tao, they ascend to the Immortal Heaven with their Lifebound Cave Heaven using Great Divine Power. The cause and effect of all beings are immense, and the sins of all beings are profoundly heavy! Without immense merit, it is impossible to offset the burdens of all beings... Hence, among the Five Immortals, attaining the Tao as a Heavenly Immortal is the most difficult.
Earth Immortals cultivate both life and depth, achieving perfect merit... During ascension, they must release their Lifebound Cave Heaven, and their True Body undergoes Rainbow Ascension to Immortal Heaven... Because they attain the Tao alone and freely, they are also called Independent Immortals.
Human Immortals cannot be called Immortals without infinite merit, although they attain longevity and immortality, they lack the Great Divine Power to protect the Tao...
Spirit Immortals require the Heavenly Decree for sealing, not achievable through human efforts, thus often looked down upon by other immortals, and I do not pursue it.
Ghost Immortals belong to the Evil Demons and Outer Path, do not enter the immortal ranks, do not obtain immortal status, although they attain immortality, they often face tribulations and ultimately cannot escape the peril of death!
Heaven and Earth Immortals are Immortals of the highest rank, while Human, Spirit, and Ghost Immortals are lower-ranking Immortal Truths..."
Crack!
Zhao Sheng crushed the Jade Scroll in his hand, then a flame burst fiercely from his palm, immediately burning the scroll fragments into flying ash.
It must be said that the Jade Scroll left by the Second Ancestor before his departure solved many of Zhao Sheng’s doubts and gave him a clearer understanding of the Immortal realm. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
According to the record in the Jade Scroll, Heavenly and Earth Immortals represent the orthodox path of ascension and Tao attainment. The paths of Human, Spirit, and Ghost Immortals seem promising but are actually dead ends.
Human Immortals are also called Merit Immortals, who attain immortality through merit, but will also fail due to merit. The vast majority of "Human Immortals" in the True Immortal Realm can never advance to Constant Sun Golden Immortals due to insufficient accumulated merit.
Spirit Immortals are restricted by the Heavenly Court, their strength limited by the sealed immortal position, unable to enhance themselves until they ascend.
It’s better not to mention Ghost Immortals.
Zhao Sheng is very aware of the intention behind the Second Ancestor leaving the scroll, but achieving the Heavenly Immortal Fruit Position is truly challenging!
Throughout history, despite countless immortals ascending the Tao in the Taiyi Spirit Realm, no "Heavenly Immortal" was ever born.
In Laozi’s Tao Te Ching, there is a saying: The Saint says, "To bear a nation’s disgrace is to be the lord of society; to bear a nation’s misfortune is to be the king of the world."
This statement speaks of a sovereign of a nation but also implicitly refers to the Lord of Cave Heaven.
To achieve the Tao as a Heavenly Immortal, one must bear the "disgrace" of all beings and take on their "misfortune."
Such an undertaking... how difficult it is!
Zhao Sheng questioned himself, even with the deep foundation accumulated over nine lifetimes of reincarnation, but which of those legendary immortals who ascended to Immortal Heaven was not exceptionally talented and unparalleled?
If so many exceptionally talented individuals found it difficult to achieve the Tao as Heavenly Immortals, how could he have the qualification to achieve such a grand feat?
However, when thinking again, he fundamentally does not need to achieve the Tao as a Heavenly Immortal, would it not be enough to ascend with the demeanor of an Earth Immortal?
As long as he holds the Book of Hundred Generations, he will eventually achieve the grand feat of attaining the Tao as a Heavenly Immortal one lifetime.
...
Taiyi Spirit Realm, Buddhist Zen Continent.
Lantuo Temple, as one of the continent’s eighteen Bodhisattva’s Dojos, has a long and ancient history.
Lantuo Temple is situated in the Five Mountains of Buddha Sacred Land, where Buddha Light often appears, the sky is filled with colorful clouds, and bursts of Sacred Sound frequently emanate from the clouds.
The Five Mountains are vast and expansive, surrounded by hundreds and thousands of magnificent temples, where incense burns profusely throughout the year, and the sound of preaching and chanting is heard continuously day and night.
Within Lantuo Temple, enlightened monks often preach, attracting countless monks and novice monks, and celestial phenomena such as Heavenly Flowers Falling and Earth Bursting Golden Lotus often appear.
Compared to the bustling as fire ancestral monastery, the back mountain of Lantuo Temple is undoubtedly much quieter.
The back mountain is dotted with uniquely styled Buddhist towers, almost every one of which emits bright Buddha Light, with dignified and virtuous figures occasionally emerging deep within the glow.
Amidst this forest-like density of Buddhist towers, a green stone road extends from the foot of the back mountain to the depths of the Tower Forest.
On this day, a gray-robed old monk appeared on the green stone road, the old monk bearing the marks of time and wind, with cloudy eyes, presenting an image of old age and frailty.
The gray-robed old monk held a large broom and was slowly sweeping the dust from the road surface.
With each sweep and pull of the broom, several meters of the road surface became clean and renewed.
It wasn’t long before the gray-robed old monk had swept a long stretch of road, and his figure gradually disappeared into the depths of the Tower Forest.
At that moment, a dignified, bald old man suddenly appeared at the foot of the back mountain, with eyebrows like swords reaching into his temples.
The bald old man surveyed the surrounding Tower Forest, and his previously arrogant expression suddenly turned extremely solemn.
He stepped onto the green stone road, walking step by step into the depths of the Tower Forest.
Soon, he arrived near the gray-robed old monk.
The gray-robed old monk seemed oblivious to the arrival, continuing to unhurriedly sweep the dust from the road surface.
The bald old man’s lips tightened nervously, as he suddenly knelt on one knee, bowed his head, and respectfully said, "Subordinate Hundred Bone Wanderer, pays respects to the Master!"
The gray-robed old monk remained unmoving, sweeping the floor as if he hadn’t heard.
Seeing this, Hundred Bone Old Demon felt a hidden heaviness in his heart and hurriedly raised his voice a notch urgently, "The matters the Master instructed recently have changed. The subordinate has been ineffective in handling this and asks for the Master’s punishment."
As soon as the sound fell, the broom in the gray-robed old monk’s hand stopped abruptly, and he slowly turned around.
At a first glance, this gray-robed old monk’s gaze was obscure, his expression blank, leaving people unable to decipher his thoughts.
"Hundred Bone, you’ve always been reliable. How did you slip this time? Speak and let’s hear it!" The old monk’s voice was strikingly old, yet contained indescribable malice.
Hundred Bone Old Demon respectfully said, "Reporting to the Master, the Star Lord position of the Pure Light Realm has been vacant for many years. After a series of strategic maneuvers, I thought the position was in the bag. But unexpectedly... Something went wrong during the process. Taiyi Immortal Venerable unexpectedly decreed that the position be handed over to the Three Saints Zhao Family.
The subordinate saw that the situation could not be mastered and could only come to report to the Master."
The gray-robed old monk paused and spoke with a murderous tone, "The Pure Light Realm is crucial to this master’s grand scheme. The Star Lord position must not be lost!
It seems this master needs to visit some old friends more frequently. Fortunately..."
Toward the end, the voice of the gray-robed old monk became almost inaudible, leaving his latter words unheard.
"Hundred Bone, relay the master’s decree: All Shadow Spirit God departments must lie dormant in place, not to be summoned for a single day..."
"I comply with the master’s decree, the subordinate takes leave!" Receiving the master’s decree, Hundred Bone Old Demon immediately withdrew from the green stone road.
Once out of the Tower Forest, this Demon Path giant flickered and vanished without a trace.
Lantuo Temple, as one of the eighteen Bodhisattva’s Dojos, both the front monastery and back mountain are within the "Great Virtuous Vajra Time Wheel Barrier".
The "Great Virtuous Vajra Time Wheel Barrier" is one of the top-tier Mahayana Restrictions in Buddhism, with limitless might, so much so that even Great Ability individuals in the Unification Realm cannot come and go freely.
Hundred Bone Old Demon, being a Demon Path giant, can surprisingly disregard it, coming and going freely.
This reveals just how deeply the Self-free Heavenly Demon Dao has infiltrated Lantuo Temple.
This gray-robed old monk who sweeps the back mountain year-round has a true identity known to almost no one.
Only a few Demon Path giants truly know the terrifying identity of the gray-robed old monk.
This sweeping old monk is none other than the legendary, virtually undying, and undying Zizai Heavenly Demon Lord, possessing countless avatars.
Tribulation Crossing Venerables typically have three avatars, whereas this Zizai Heavenly Demon Lord not only has countless avatars but boasts nine Avatars.
The gray-robed old monk is only one of these; the other eight avatars each have a deeply hidden identity.
It is widely known, the Zizai Heavenly Demon Lord might not be the strongest among the Venerables but is certainly the most difficult to kill.
Legend has it, eighty thousand years ago a Immortal Venerable personally made an attempt to completely eradicate this demon, yet failed to succeed.
Although the Zizai Heavenly Demon Lord had seven avatars destroyed in succession, and thousands of avatars died.
Nonetheless, after vanishing for tens of thousands of years, Zizai Heavenly Demon Lord began to reappear, stirring up trouble, as if never having suffered a heavy blow.
