Cultivation: I Have a Golden Talisman
Chapter 306 - 69: Feng Si Niang Arranges a Marriage
Fang Cheng had been idling in his Pocket World Spiritual Building for three days when Elder Ye Yu of the Ye Family came to visit.
This Ye Yu was once a trusted confidant of the Ye Family’s Great Elder. With a cultivation level second only to Madam Ye’s, he was also at the Mid-stage Life Talisman Realm.
Now that Madam Ye held the reins of the Ye Family, he was placed in a position of great importance. When Madam Ye was in seclusion, he was the one who handled all of the family’s affairs, big and small.
Upon hearing that Fang Cheng intended to take a concubine, he had eagerly volunteered to act as the matchmaker.
He first sought out an Honored Guest Elder from Xiaocang Island who was in the Life Talisman Realm and explained the whole situation to her.
This Elder’s name was Feng Si Niang. She was eloquent and fast-talking, with a wide circle of acquaintances, and had served as a matchmaker for many Noble Family Cultivators in the Abyssal Marsh.
After hearing Ye Yu’s words, Feng Si Niang immediately slapped her chest and declared, "I may not have other skills, but for this matter, Elder Ye, you’ve come to the right person. I was born with a silver tongue, one that could make an arhat yearn for love and a nun wish to marry. Leave this matter to me."
Ye Yu said, "If you can accomplish this, I will reward you handsomely afterward."
Afterward, Ye Yu prepared a generous betrothal gift and traveled with Feng Si Niang to the Dragon Spine Archipelago to visit Lu Wei.
When Lu Wei saw an Elder from the Ye Family arriving, she naturally took the matter very seriously and received them with impeccable courtesy.
After the three had a few cups of tea, Ye Yu made an excuse to leave Lu Wei’s Cave Mansion and waited patiently outside.
Feng Si Niang and Lu Wei were old acquaintances. At this moment, Feng Si Niang was sitting at the table with a smile, while Lu Wei sat beside her to keep her company.
Feng Si Niang glanced around, taking in the sight of Lu Wei’s Cave Mansion filled with Exquisite Flowers and Grasses of breathtaking beauty. She praised, "Little sister, you have such a green thumb! Your flowers are wonderful. In the whole of the Abyssal Marsh, for thousands of miles around, I doubt I could find another person as beautiful and as skilled as you."
Lu Wei gave a captivating smile and said, "You flatter me. What wind has blown Sister Feng and Elder Ye here today?"
Feng Si Niang replied, "I’ve often wanted to visit you, but I’ve been tied up with trivial matters and couldn’t find the time. Today, a wonderful marriage opportunity has come up, so I stole a moment to come and bring you this happy news. A great figure from Yinluo Island has taken a liking to you and wishes to take you as his concubine."
Lu Wei was taken aback. Only then did she realize Feng Si Niang had come to act as a matchmaker. She said, "Sister, there’s something you may not know. I have several conditions for finding a dao companion. First, he must be of a similar age. Second, his Cultivation must be comparable to mine. Third, he must have no wives, concubines, or children. Fourth, he must not have parents-in-law to serve. Fifth, he must not have a wandering eye... If I am to marry, I want to find a true soulmate. To be someone’s concubine is something I find absolutely unacceptable."
Feng Si Niang laughed. "You are too proud, and that is why you are still all alone. But you don’t seem to realize there are different kinds of marriages."
Lu Wei asked curiously, "What different kinds are there?"
Feng Si Niang chuckled and said, "There are true good matches, and false good matches. There are bitter marriages and joyful marriages. There are marriages of convenience, and marriages of necessity."
She took a sip of tea and began to explain each one. "What is a true good match? Generally, a prodigy must be matched with a beauty, and a beauty with a prodigy, for it to be a perfect pair. However, the path to happiness is never smooth, and such a thing is often unattainable. But if they are fortunate enough to meet, and they fall for each other, unable to part, one eager to have and the other willing to wed, they are like a pair of silkworm moths that won’t let go even in death. This is called a true good match."
"What is a false good match? There are some Male Cultivators who love a woman, but the woman does not love them back. In her heart, she is unwilling to marry him, only using the promise of marriage to keep him infatuated and spending his money freely. When the wedding day approaches, she makes excuses to call it off. Then there are the infatuated Male Cultivators who know the woman’s heart is not with them, but insist on marrying her anyway. Once she is forced into the marriage, at best she will throw tantrums and act shamelessly; at worst, she will openly cheat on him. This is called a false good match."
"What is a bitter marriage? This is when a Male Cultivator loves you, but you do not love him, yet you are coerced by his power. Fearing disaster, you agree to marry him. Once you enter the great house, it is as deep as the sea. The family rules are strict, and you cannot even raise your head. You live half-concubine, half-servant, enduring each day as if you were dead."
"And what is a joyful marriage? This is when a woman is in the process of choosing a partner and happens to meet a handsome Male Cultivator. She sees that he is gentle, his family is powerful, and his main wife is kind and benevolent. She hopes that after marrying into the family, she can bear many sons and daughters, helping the family line flourish. She marries him for this reason, seeking a comfortable and peaceful life."
"The marriage I am proposing to you is precisely this kind of joyful marriage!"
Lu Wei felt as if her head was in the clouds, yet she couldn’t help but feel that everything Feng Si Niang said made sense. She couldn’t help but ask, "Sister, this great figure from Yinluo Island you speak of... which of the Inner Sect Elders might he be?"
’For Elder Ye Yu of the Ye Family to come in person, it has to be either that Ye Family Elder who cultivates on Holy Spring Peak, or some other high-ranking sect official with an unshakable relationship with the Ye Family.’
Feng Si Niang smiled faintly. "This one is truly extraordinary. He is the Disciple of the Demon Lion Peak’s Peak Master. After only a few decades of cultivation, he was promoted to Inner Sect Elder. He has personally slain a Tier Three Celestial Demon, and his name shakes the Abyssal Marsh..."
"Fang Cheng?" Lu Wei blurted out the name before Feng Si Niang could finish.
Feng Si Niang nodded, smiling without a word.
Lu Wei’s face flushed red, a mix of shock and shyness. "How could it be him?"
She never would have imagined that the former Outer Disciple from all those years ago would send a matchmaker to her at a time like this, wanting to take her as a concubine.
’Back then, in the Xiao Family Valley in the Southern Mang Mountains, if it weren’t for him, I would have been killed and my life would have ended right there.’
’Although I repaid the life-saving debt to Fang Cheng later on, it was still a life-saving debt. How could it be something to be taken lightly?’
Feng Si Niang, an expert at reading people, noticed the shift in Lu Wei’s heart and once again began her artful persuasion. She listed all sorts of benefits, praising Fang Cheng and Ye Yan to the heavens, making it seem as if becoming Fang Cheng’s concubine would allow Lu Wei a meteoric rise, with the Great Dao itself within her reach...
When she was finished, she said, "Every word I’ve spoken is for your own good. If you follow my advice, you will surely thank me in the future."
With that, she rose and took her leave.
Lu Wei escorted her out of the Cave Mansion, where they came across Elder Ye Yu waiting outside.
Ye Yu immediately presented the generous betrothal gift he had prepared. Lu Wei, her face flushed with bashfulness, refused a few times, but she couldn’t withstand the combined persuasion of Ye Yu and Feng Si Niang. She accepted it, saying she needed some time to consider.
The next day, Feng Si Niang visited again, and by then, Lu Wei had already agreed.
「Back on Demon Lion Peak.」
After settling the matter, Ye Yu went to Canglan Cave to report back to Fang Cheng. They then decided on an auspicious wedding date, and Ye Yu hastily departed.
「On the day of the wedding.」
Fang Cheng didn’t hold a grand banquet. He simply arranged a single table for a Spiritual Cuisine dinner and had Ye Yan and the other three women accompany them.
As evening approached, a magnificent chariot appeared in the sky. Ye Yu and several Ye Family Elders accompanied it, escorting the bride, Lu Wei, to the entrance of Canglan Cave.
Fang Cheng, dressed in brilliant red ceremonial robes, stood waiting before the cave.
The Flying Celestial Chariot descended, and from it stepped a graceful and beautiful Female Cultivator.
She wore a low-cut, snow-white gown with ribbons tied around her arms. Her wide sleeves trailed on the ground, and a long silk shawl draped over her long skirt. Over it all, she wore an outer layer of gauze adorned with pearls and jade. Spiritual Qi swirled around her, and a faint fragrance wafted in the air.
What was most eye-catching was her exquisite figure—her long, slender legs, her slim waist, and the magnificent, proud peaks of her full, round bust.
She exuded a rare scholarly air, and her beautiful eyes sparkled with a mixture of shyness and joy.
It was none other than Lu Wei, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time.
An old acquaintance, and now a new bride.
The two entered the Cave Mansion, bowed to heaven and earth, and drank with Ye Yan and the other women before finally retiring to the exquisitely decorated, magnificent bridal chamber.
Fang Cheng led Lu Wei to the edge of the bed, and they both sat down. Beneath them was a brand-new, bright red Spiritual Silk Quilt. The room was illuminated by tall red candles, which made Lu Wei appear even more beautiful than a flower.
This was Fang Cheng’s fourth time in the bridal chamber.
Lu Wei, however, was shy and timid, feeling a bit helpless and letting Fang Cheng take the lead entirely.
Fang Cheng wrapped his arm around the beautiful Elder’s slender waist and smiled. "My wife, the night is late. Let us sleep!"
With that, he began to undress her... Lu Wei quickly blew a breath, extinguishing the candles in the bridal chamber.
Before long, things grew more intimate. Lu Wei found herself quite pleased with Fang Cheng and couldn’t help but wrap her full, long, fair legs around his waist and back, letting out a melodious moan and a soft sigh of emotion:
"So this is how wonderful it is... I’ve wasted half a lifetime of happiness!"
