Chapter 2446: Helena

"More! I want more! Why are you stopping?!" Yuan roared out loud when the Demon God’s Ordeal stopped flowing toward him, looking like an addict who just ran out of supply.

"There’s nothing we can do since all of the Demon God’s Ordeal in this area has already been consumed by you," Selena remarked.

"Huh?"

Yuan’s Demonic Awakening suddenly deactivated, and his demeanor returned to normal.

He looked around with a somewhat puzzled face, almost as if he wasn’t aware of what had occurred.

Then he inspected his body. Although it felt stronger than before, it wasn’t drastically different, nor was there anything new.

"You haven’t completed your ascension yet," Selena said after seeing his actions.

Yuan raised an eyebrow and asked, "Will it be fine? I thought one could not stop their ascension midway."

"Hard to say. You may be human, but you came from a different world, so things might be different for you."

"What did you just say? He’s a human from another world?" Angela’s eyes widened in disbelief after hearing this information from Selena.

"B-But he’s clearly a demon!"

Selena shook her head, "Unfortunately, I cannot explain that phenomenon."

"Hey, will the Demon God’s Ordeal replenish itself?" Yuan suddenly asked them.

"Yes," Selena replied. "But it will likely take a tremendous amount of time. It’d be faster if we went to another area, where the Demon God’s Ordeal is still abundant."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let’s head to..." Yuan halted his sentence when he remembered something.

"Oh, right."

He looked at Angela and continued, "Do you still want to fight? I would prefer it if we didn’t, but I don’t mind entertaining you for a bit. After all, you did help me cultivate."

"Who... who the hell was trying to help you?! I wanted to kill you for disrespecting me!" Angela shouted while pointing a finger at him, her arm slightly shaking from anger.

Yuan shrugged. "You started it by treating us like insects. Even if you despise the Demon God, taking your anger out on others is nothing more than childish."

"What did you just say?" Angela frowned, her killing intent reemerging."

"My, what’s going on here?"

Suddenly, a new voice resounded.

Yuan and the others turned their heads to see an unfamiliar figure not far away, watching them with an intrigued smile on her face.

"Helena!"

Selena and Angela called out her name simultaneously. It was another Transcendent—the third and final one in the entire Demonic Realm.

"What are you doing here?" Selena asked.

"I could ask you the same thing," said Helena. "I was in the area and noticed the commotion, so I decided to check it out. Never expected to see you here, Selena."

Helena bore similar facial features to the other two, but her physique was noticeably bulkier and full of muscles.

Seeing how much they resembled each other, Yuan couldn’t help but wonder if they were sisters, or if it was a characteristic of Transcendents.

"How long have you been watching?" Angela inquired.

Helena showed a smile as her gaze shifted to Yuan.

"Right before Selena joined in on the fun," she calmly replied.

"So, what were the two of you doing? And is he really a human from another world?"

"They’re here to look for a demon named Owen," Selena said.

"Owen?" Helena raised an eyebrow, then turned to Angela. Their eyes met, and for an instant it was as if they were silently acknowledging some shared secret.

"I guess you both know something about Owen," Selena remarked after seeing their reaction. "So, what have the two of you been doing behind my back?"

"Behind your back? That’s something you can only say if you were involved from the beginning," Angela sneered aloud.

"Right? And it’s not like we’re purposefully avoiding you, either. Whenever we meet, it’s because we went to visit you. You’ve never visited us on your own accord... ever."

Selena sighed at their words and replied, "It’s not like I am purposefully avoiding you, either. This is just who I am."

"So, what do you know about Owen?" Yuan finally spoke, asking them.

"What? Even if we know Owen, why should we tell you? It’s none of your business," Helena sneered.

"You’re right. It’s none of our business. However, we intend to kill him once we find him, so if his death inconveniences you—"

"Wait a second. You’re trying to kill Owen? Why?" Angela interrupted with a deep frown on her face.

"Sorry, but it’s none of your business." Yuan shook his head, refusing to answer.

"No, it is our business," Helena quickly said. "We have an agreement with him, and that would fall apart if he dies, so we need him alive. I don’t care why you want to kill him, but it’s not going to happen... at least not until we’re done with him, so forget about it."

"And how long would that take?" Yuan then asked.

"Hard to say. However, now that we know you’re trying to kill him, we cannot allow you to leave until we’re done with him, so you’ll have to stay here until then. If you refuse... we’ll kill you."

"..."

Yuan fell silent.

He could likely handle one Transcendent, but two would be pushing even his limits. And it wasn’t as though he could rely on Lev or Supreme Ruler Grant to deal with the other.

Moreover, Supreme Ruler Dena’s situation was still dubious.

’I doubt Selena would help me fight her own allies...’ Yuan sighed inwardly. ’If anything, she might turn on me instead—no, it’s almost certain she would. After all, she wanted me to stay with her forever if we lost the game.’

After pondering for a moment, Yuan spoke, "Whatever you need from Owen, I doubt I won’t be able to assist you. Hell, I might even do it better than him, so why don’t you tell me about it?"

"You? Help us?" Angela suddenly chuckled.

"Unless you can contact the Demon God, there’s nothing you, a foreigner from another world, could help us with!" Helena shouted.

Yuan raised an eyebrow at their words, thinking to himself, ’So it has something to do with the Demon God, huh? Does this mean that Owen is in contact with the Demon God? No... that’s unlikely... So is he lying?’

Seeing the surprised look on Yuan’s face, Angela continued laughing, "Look at your dumbfounded face! You’re all talk!"

A smile tugged at Yuan’s lips as he responded, "But I didn’t even say anything."

He continued, "Although it might not be easy to contact the Demon God, I can definitely do it."

"What?"

Not just Helena and Angela, but even Selena expressed surprise at his claims.

"That’s nothing but empty talk!"

Yuan remained calm and asked, "The reason you want to contact the Demon God... are you trying to leave this place?"

"?!"

Helena and Angela’s expression and body visibly stiffened.

"Why do you look so surprised? Who would want to stay imprisoned for eternity? I certainly wouldn’t," he shrugged.

"I don’t know what Owen said to you, but I doubt he has the power to free you from this place."

"But you do?" Angela sneered with a suspicious face.

"I can’t guarantee you that I will be able to free you from this place, but I can try, and you’d definitely have better chances with me than that fraud Owen."

"We’ve known Owen for billions of years, but we’ve only met you today, and you want us to trust you over him? Laughable!" Helena snickered in disdain.

Yuan then asked them, "In that case, why don’t you tell me about your business with Owen? What did he promise you? What does he want in return?"

"He promised us that he’d help us regain our freedom," Angela said. "As for his methods... he didn’t tell us, saying that it wouldn’t work if he revealed it to us because the Demon God is always watching."

Yuan raised his eyebrows and asked, "And you’re not worried about plotting against the Demon God so openly? That seems... quite contradictory."

"We’re not plotting against the Demon God, though." Helena said. "We just want to regain our freedom. If the Demon God has an issue with it, he will intervene. If not, that means he’s allowing it."

"So, the two of you are plotting to regain your freedom... without me?" Selena suddenly asked.

When they turned to her, they were met with a calm expression. But looking closer, they could see a flicker of anger slowly surfacing in the depths of her eyes.

"W-We were planning on telling you!" Angela hastily said, a hint of nervousness in her voice.

"Really?" Selena asked in a low voice.

"Really!" Helena nodded. "We were going to tell you once we were certain about everything because we didn’t want to get your hopes up! There’s no way we would leave you here alone, even if you never visit us."

Selena nodded, "Alright."

The rising anger in her eyes vanished the next second.

Seeing this, the other two sighed in relief.
