Cultivation Starting from Choosing Augments
Chapter 321 - 177: White Lantern, Maze, a Unique Way of Pushing Through
After all, the maze was huge. They could just say they never ran into Xiao Chen. Why bother charging forward to their deaths?
When it came to bullying the weak and fearing the strong, most Demon Cultivators were experts.
The ones left behind for the ambush were just ordinary followers anyway; the true elite Demon Cultivators had all gone into the mausoleum to collect Evil Qi.
As a result, the group didn’t encounter any attacks from Demon Cultivators for the entire latter half of their journey.
They even managed to rescue another group of Cultivators along the way.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
Xiao Chen threw three punches in a row, finally opening a breach in the last wall.
CRASH!
A large section of the wall collapsed, sending a shower of rubble flying out.
The sudden noise startled Lan Nianqin, who was resting nearby.
Xiao Chen walked out of the large hole and found himself inside another palace hall.
No wonder that last wall was a full ten feet thick; it had taken him a full thirty punches to break through.
He had gone the wrong way. The maze exit wasn’t here at all.
But that was fine. The maze now had an extra exit.
"Xiao...?"
Lan Nianqin rubbed her eyes in disbelief, making sure she wasn’t mistaken. "How are you here?"
Realizing her question sounded a little silly, she corrected herself. "No, what I mean is, how did you come out of the wall?"
Xiao Chen blinked and asked in return, "Lan, how are you here?"
However, Lan Nianqin was completely dumbfounded as she watched the large number of Cultivators filing out from behind him.
It took her a moment to explain. As it turned out, she had been lucky enough to run into Nine-foot Staff Zhu Hui and had escaped the maze three days ago.
But she was timid and knew she couldn’t compete with the experts.
So, instead of following the wide road outside the exit toward the main mausoleum, she had come to a side hall to scavenge for leftovers.
Xiao Chen immediately perked up. "Lan, where is the main mausoleum?"
"If it’s convenient, could you take me to the maze exit?"
Lan Nianqin shook her head and pointed. "Xiao, could you please wait a moment? I’m about to break this Guardian Restriction."
"Once I get this Magical Artifact, I’ll lead the way for you, alright?"
Xiao Chen followed her finger and saw a jade-green barrier of light inverted over a stone platform.
Beneath it was an exquisite silk ribbon, which looked like some kind of Sacrificial Artifact.
Next to the barrier, a furry Treasure-Seeking Rat was struggling to crack the Guardian Restriction on the stone platform.
Xiao Chen gave Lan Nianqin a surprised look.
’I didn’t expect her to have a Spirit Beast. And by the looks of it, its rank isn’t low either—it seems to be at the sixth layer of Foundation Establishment.’
But on second thought, her own Cultivation Technique had hit a dead end.
Raising a powerful Spirit Beast was indeed one way to increase her overall Combat Power.
Besides, a Spirit Beast like a Treasure-Seeking Rat could serve other useful purposes.
’It’s just a bit inefficient, though. At this rate, it’ll take at least a few more hours to break the Restriction.’
BAM!
Xiao Chen strode forward and punched the stone platform.
The Restriction immediately shattered like porcelain, and the stone platform beneath it split in two.
SQUEAK!
The Treasure-Seeking Rat below let out a sharp squeal and leaped up from the ground.
It used Lan Nianqin’s arm as a springboard and dove into her cleavage.
’Well,’ Xiao Chen thought, ’it seems a Spirit Beast doesn’t necessarily increase one’s Combat Power. At least, not one this cowardly.’
Xiao Chen picked up the silk ribbon from the ground and handed it over. "Lan, here you go."
"The Restriction is taken care of now. So, would you mind showing me the way?"
Lan Nianqin looked at the shattered Restriction, then turned to glance at the collapsed wall.
Her face instantly turned pale, and she didn’t even dare to take the ribbon. "Xiao, please follow me."
Xiao Chen quickly stopped her. "Lan, take the ribbon first."
"I was just trying to save some time. Don’t get the wrong idea."
Only after he said it twice did Lan Nianqin hesitantly accept the silk ribbon.
Under her guidance, it took the group only an hour to reach the true exit of the maze.
A wide road did indeed lie there, leading toward the main mausoleum.
