"Ahhhhh!!!!!"

The ghastly scream echoed through the abandoned factory. Lille and his group had just arrived when they encountered this eerie scene.

Navi got out of the car, closed the door, and shuddered involuntarily at the sound.

"That sound... it doesn’t sound like Cedric."

Lille looked around without saying a word.

It really didn’t sound like Cedric.

Currently, combat prosthetics on cyber psychos performing at theoretical levels was the norm, and exceeding those levels was even more common.

If Cedric was a top warrior of the Red Ochre Tribe, then in his cyber psychosis, taking down a few biotechnology soldiers would be a walk in the park.

Killing was one of the few "reliable" products in the affordable firepower range, an absolute leader among kinetic shotguns.

Unfortunately, the designers, in pursuit of powerful firepower and large guns, had sacrificed user comfort.

This made the gun something only those with little money but a desire for quality would dare to buy—

Nevertheless, with careful prosthetics installation and some adjustments to the gun, it remained a lethal weapon that could penetrate most subdermal armor on the market.

Boom!

The sound of the gunshot was deafening. The four simultaneously looked in the direction of the shot and hurried over.

"Look..."

"Look!"

"This is Andri now, you damn love to watch, then watch!"

The scene was horrifying.

Even though there were only two dead bodies on the ground, Cedric’s frenzied voice made the murder site look like something out of a horror movie. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Navi swallowed hard, his hand trembling as he gripped the Ajax rifle.

This was Cedric’s voice, but it sounded more like an evil ghost.

The three exchanged a glance, and Jack took Sadara off his back, held it in his hand, and walked in front.

"Look!"

Splash.

Seeing the scene clearly, the trio uttered the same words: "Holy shit..."

Cedric was pressing a biotechnology soldier’s head against a corpse, pushing it with such force that it was jammed into Andri’s body.

Murphy’s head was squeezed by the bones, smothered by the pulped flesh, with blood foam even seeping into his mouth.

"I... guh—let go of... me... ah—"

"Urgh—" Navi vomited on the spot.

Andri and Cedric were both his family, and this scene shook his nerves.

This situation also caught Cedric’s attention. He stopped, looking in the direction of the four.

"Navi? What are you doing here—damn it!"

Cedric suddenly flew into a rage.

In his visual system, the positions of the three turned into cybered wanderers.

The site no longer appeared as a ruined factory but a biotechnology apartment engulfed in flames.

He saw the tattoos on the wanderers—

"Bowen!!!!"

Cedric suddenly raged, hurling Murphy aside, his enhanced tendons erupting with force, his ankle yanking into an exaggerated curve, the front muscles of his foot even tearing!

Lille could only see Cedric disappear in an instant, as if he’d turned on Si Anweisitan.

But almost simultaneously, V appeared before the trio, launching the Mantis Blade, pinning both of Cedric’s shoulders directly.

The enormous impact drove the Mantis Blade through Cedric’s shoulders, still advancing. Jack reacted quickly, immediately aiming his gun at Cedric’s left mechanical limb.

Boom!

The entire mechanical arm shattered under Sadara’s bullet!

Seeing Cedric’s fluorescent blood gushing out, Lille suddenly halted V, who was about to retract the Mantis Blade.

"Don’t retract the Mantis Blade! There’s something wrong with his blood!"

Speaking, Lille started attempting to breach Cedric’s system.

Cedric was blown away by Sadara’s dreadful kinetic energy but bounced back up immediately—

However, Jack didn’t hesitate, punching Cedric in the chest, knocking him back down.

Cedric’s chest caved in, drastically reducing the oxygen entering his lungs, weakening the prosthetic strength rapidly.

Jack pinned Cedric’s remaining hand and head, pressing his legs against Cedric’s feet, pinning him completely.

But horrifying things happened:

The frenzied Cedric writhed, his muscles pulling his bones uncontrollably, twisting madly on the ground, his flesh and bones wriggling in an exaggerated and incredible manner!

Until Lille fully breached his system, in about just three seconds, Cedric’s ribs were already completely broken.

Prosthetic eyes, tendons, mechanical prosthetics, and other auxiliary prosthetics temporarily locked, the human-machine link loosened, and Cedric’s movements slowed significantly.

Lille put on prosthetic doctor gloves, directly cutting open his wounds, connecting to his system, physically shutting down the combat implant circuits, and removing the external prosthetics.

Stabilizing Cedric, Lille pulled out a pneumatic injector filled with sedative from his bag, inserting it into Cedric’s neck—yet Cedric still didn’t calm down.

Lille frowned, took out another neural inhibitor, and administered it, finally calming Cedric gradually.

Even as he fell asleep, he kept murmuring that name.

V leaned over to Lille, looking disgustedly at the blood on the Mantis Blade: "What do you mean the blood is toxic?"

"I’m not sure of the specifics, but I think it’s worth being cautious."

As Lille spoke, he pulled a roll of disinfectant bandage from his clothing pocket, carefully wiped the fluorescent blood off the Mantis Blade, and sprayed some disinfectant on V’s Mantis Blade.

V raised the Mantis Blade to examine it in the sunlight, satisfied, putting the Mantis Blade away.

"...quite interesting, I bet many people would be interested in this stuff."

Lille looked at the bloodstain on the bandage with interest, then stored it in a plastic bag.

After all this, the trio’s emotions were a bit mixed.

Cedric was skilled, but in terms of combat strength, he was no match for them.

But that madness created immense pressure.

At this moment, a faint voice came from the other side: "Help... help me..."

The three looked over, the voice came from Cedric’s car, a scorched-faced person was crawling next to it.

A scorched face, with a hint of light—seemed to be a metallic reflection of a reinforced skull.

The blood on the corpse appeared to have some special property, corroding his face, mingling with the other blood.

V was stunned, touching her hand nervously: "Damn... good thing there’s someone who knows this stuff, what’s with this guy?"

"Don’t know, let’s ask." Lille approached Murphy, "You’re with biotechnology? What happened?"

"Yes! I am... My name is Brandon Murphy... Damn company... save me, please..."

Murphy tried to grab Lille’s foot, but Lille stepped back immediately.

"Hold on, you answer my questions first—" Lille said, pulling out two vials of medication and a 50ml bottle of liquid from his pocket.

"This is a painkiller, this is a hemostatic agent, and this is a biological disinfectant. Answer a question, get a shot."

Murphy gritted his teeth, his head falling to the ground: "Alright! Damn it... hurry up! Please, ask!"

"This is a biological disinfectant, consider it a reward for your cooperation." Lille poured the disinfectant on Murphy’s face, washing off a layer of charred blood and flesh.

Murphy didn’t mind, struggling, rubbing against the ground.

"What’s biotechnology told you?"

"They told me to come here to collect the experimental subject’s body, damn it! Who knew it was a cyber psycho! I know what you’re going to ask, my superior is Diana Kuno!"

"Very cooperative, here’s the painkiller." Lille gave him a shot.

The pain relief calmed Murphy down significantly, he struggled to turn over.

After turning over, he gritted his teeth and continued: "Don’t ask meaningless questions, I’m willing to testify, damn the company, they’re all bastards."

Lille showed a surprised expression: "You’re just going to betray the company like that?"

"Cut the crap, they screwed me first! Diana Kuno lied that it was routine work, but seeing people turned out like this, I’m not taking the fall for it!"

"Decisive."

Murphy took a deep breath: "Listen, I really understand.

The company wouldn’t solve my problems, instead, they’d say it’s because I didn’t follow the work procedure, didn’t prevent biological contamination, yada yada...

Couldn’t even claim work injury insurance! I don’t know who you’re working for, but whoever it is, I’m useful. Helping me is helping you make money, truly.

If you don’t have a money-making channel, I know one, there’s a journalist named Manuel Mendoza who always wanted me to give him some big news, I ignored him, but it’s different now.

See, we have no grudge—really, I have no grudge with this wanderer’s crazy bastard, I was just doing routine work, I don’t know what biotechnology did!

But now, we’re on the same side!"

Lille stroked his chin, looking at Murphy with interest.

V showed a similar expression: "Damn, this company dog really can talk, speaks quite convincingly."

Murphy’s stiff face seemed to smile: "Girl, I used to be a mercenary like you, hoping to retire as a security guard for biotechnology, but these assholes risked my life, you think I can take that?

Never thought I’d be back to this line of work... damn."

V was amused by Murphy, no doubt this idiot really seemed like one of them.

But the decision was still up to Lille—in all this time, V had become aware of her intellectual limitations.

Lille finally looked at the bodies in the car, then at the unconscious Cedric.

"Looks like you’ll be embracing the mercenary life again, I guess that’s Murphy’s Law."
