Chapter 1128 - 1126: Counterattack by Indirect Means
Many situations in war can’t be hidden, especially in Mariluo.
The warlords are everywhere, and not everyone has the same goals. For example, someone secretly informed the Federation people that around the battlefield perimeter, Mariluo’s warlords have set up a field artillery position.
They have assembled thirty to forty various types of field artillery there, intending to ambush the Federation people once they enter the city center.
This information soon reached the Ministry of Defense and was then conveyed to the frontline.
Subsequently, a team broke away from the camp and started to maneuver from the side towards the back of the city. Their mission was to locate the enemy’s field artillery while attempting to spot any anti-aircraft guns.
The airport stated that they could restart bombing the target area the day after tomorrow, but the commanders were still a bit worried.
The destruction of more aircraft would be an unimaginable blow to morale.
Currently, much of the Federation people’s morale is based on the equipment gap between the enemy and themselves. If this gap continues to be narrowed by certain circumstances, sustained morale decline will be inevitable.
The decision from the command center was quite reasonable.
If they can destroy those anti-aircraft weapons, the threat to the aircraft will be eliminated, and the Federation’s military equipment can regain the upper hand.
In the short term, there might not be any good news, but the impressive performance of the armored vehicles in urban combat has drawn interest from the Ministry of Defense and military observers from multiple countries.
There previously existed similar armored vehicles, but they didn’t have the ability to shell; most were standard armored vehicles.
They had thick bulletproof steel plates, and some observation holes and firing ports.
People would shoot through these small holes with weapons, and the best case was to mount a machine gun on the roof, which had almost no destructive capability against buildings.
It’s not that no one ever thought of installing artillery on vehicles, but during World War I, after countries discovered that decisive forces were in the Navy, the research progress on some Army equipment slowed.
This was inevitable since the core idea of developing Army equipment was effective only when it could hit other countries’ territories.
If it’s just for defense, artillery positions and various solid batteries are much more valuable than developing new Army equipment.
Until this moment, people seemed to see shadows of a changed future warfare mode.
Some military observers even started sweating because the countries they belonged to built numerous so-called ’steel fortresses’, using concrete and steel to build numerous batteries and iron walls in certain areas.
This has strong deterrence capabilities against collective attacks, and facing such defensive structures, there are hardly any good tactics.
But armored vehicles are different; they have strong mobility and decent attack power, meaning they have to face a group of moving artillery that moves faster than infantry!
The vehicles can completely bypass defensive structures to attack, even if the path is somewhat roundabout. It’s not a problem for the overall battle situation because the speed is fast enough.
Whether in attack or defense, fitting artillery into armored vehicles seems to have become the next development trend.
Various national military and defense enterprises all obtained this firsthand information promptly.
Federation domestic military enterprises also received this information; however, this time, they weren’t as bold as last time against Lynch, daring to challenge these armored vehicles.
Because behind these armored vehicles is Mr. Wardrick.
It’s infuriating that they dare to challenge Lynch but not Mr. Wardrick, and this is precisely the essence of the Federation’s capitalist society!
Everyone knows that Mr. Wardrick is very wealthy, much wealthier than Lynch, and under his and his consortium’s support, at least five presidents closely connected to them have emerged in the Federation!
Wealth, social status, political influence—they fear no challenge and are even interested in challenges—
This means they have opportunities to swallow challengers to make themselves stronger!
The information from the frontline proved very exciting, and Mr. Wardrick decided to host a party to celebrate this historic moment.
People from the Ministry of Defense also came to discuss some order issues with him, and some defense companies extended olive branches, hoping to collaborate in these fields.
As for Lynch... he was once again backstabbed.
"I’m sorry to tell you this, but you know, there are some things we don’t have much control over."
Mr. Truman personally called Lynch to explain the situation. The company producing bombers that got the Ministry of Defense’s orders learned that Lynch’s Miracle-I bombers were shot down on the north battlefield and immediately reported to the Ministry of Defense.
They wanted to showcase their bombers to compare strengths and weaknesses with Lynch’s bombers, thereby proving the Ministry of Defense’s choice of them was the most correct decision.
Meanwhile, they also submitted their new airborne weapon plans to the Ministry of Defense—a plane capable of shooting down other aircraft. If the Ministry of Defense hadn’t seen the attackers from Lynch’s side, they might really be surprised.
Although they weren’t very interested in those immature attackers, the Ministry of Defense was very interested in the bombers they spent money on.
Thus, under the Ministry of Defense’s mediation, they hoped Lynch could lend his temporary frontline airport to these people for some blanket bombing of areas within the city.
Someone entrusted Mr. Truman to speak with Lynch, and recognizing their favorable connection was a public acknowledgment.
Upon hearing this, Lynch remained silent briefly before agreeing, "I have no reason to refuse, as long as they’re not asking me for military funds..."
Mr. Truman couldn’t help but laugh after hearing that, "Rest assured, they have no reason to demand military funds."
After a short silence, he asked, "Will you feel pressured?"
"Pressure?" Lynch’s voice carried the same powerful confidence it always had, "Why should I feel pressured?"
"If someone compares their latest generation of military equipment against our first-generation prototype, I not only won’t feel pressured but might even want to laugh."
"If they’re seeking a sense of superiority by coming to me, then they’ve certainly picked the wrong target."
After hanging up, Lynch thought for a moment and then dialed another number.
"Is there anything you need me to do?" On the other end of the line was Nell, who was a bit puzzled by Lynch’s sudden call.
Lynch wasted no time with unnecessary words, "Find a neutral small country to register a weapons company, then I’ll arrange to send you some weapons equipment. You need to find ways to market those to Mariluo’s warlords."
Nell was briefly stuck in confusion, trying to untangle the mess in his head, "I heard you are invading Mariluo."
He found the situation quite fantastical. He could accept Lynch quickly becoming wealthy, although it was equally fantastical.
Isn’t the Federation dream all about achieving life-changing success as long as one works hard with the right opportunities? Lynch embodies the Federation dream.
But personally and as a private company to invade other nations is so damn fantastical.
When he first heard this news, Nell was convinced he must have been drunk that day, and even now he struggles to accept this reality.
His own son has become a major warlord and has led an invasion.
"It’s not an invasion; it’s liberation!" Lynch corrected him.
He didn’t want to delve into the legitimacy of this war with Nell. "Just follow my instructions; those weapons are not meant to attack me. They’re to attack my competitors."
"Make sure it’s clean...," he paused slightly, "as clean as possible; honestly, even if it’s discovered, it’s not a big deal."
Those disgusting companies seize his victory fruits, step on his head to climb higher, and give him backstabs while not allowing him to retaliate?
As long as he can ensure his weapons remain superior to what he sells, the Ministry of Defense won’t be too harsh on him.
After all, he’s still young, and at his age, making mistakes isn’t seen as mistakes but as growth!
Nell quickly agreed, though he wasn’t very familiar with such business, Lindy provided him a suitable candidate—Mark.
Mark is a smart person who previously made some money relying on his uncle Landon, though he lost everything in his last investment. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
But it’s undeniable he’s a smart person who accurately positions himself, has seen the world, and is capable of handling this unique job.
At this moment, Mark, who is running a small import-export trade company in Nagariel, cannot anticipate his life is about to change at this moment.
After hanging up, Nell started the process of registering a company while dialing Mark’s number following the contact given by Lynch.
When Mark heard the caller identify himself as Lynch’s father, inviting him over as a guest, he didn’t hesitate to head to their agreed location.
In Nagariel, you may not know who the Federation’s president is, but you must be well acquainted with the board members of the United Development Company.
Without them, goods can’t go out to other places, nor can outside goods come in, as the United Development Company fully monopolizes the country’s import-export trade.
Mark, having some quota due to knowing Lynch, had to show him some respect.
When he arrived at Nell’s current villa, listening to Nell share his thoughts—he didn’t tell Mark it was Lynch’s idea but claimed it was his own—Mark agreed.
As a Federation citizen, he knows better than anyone that arms trafficking profits are several times or even dozens more than normal import-export trade!
Landon has given up on supporting him after botching the last investment, so he has to be responsible for his own future!
This is an opportunity!
