Chapter 1134 - 1132: Destruction
"Proceed according to plan, commence bombing..."
The squadron leader of the bombing formation issued the command through the radio. With green flares illuminating the ground, they could easily distinguish between enemy and allies.
As the area below was shrouded in darkness through the sights, he issued the final command.
All aircraft began to form the formation as per their plan.
These pilots had been preparing for this night bombing for a long time, repeatedly practicing completing all task actions at night and returning since over a month ago.
The most challenging aspect of a night flight mission is the inability to see objects on the ground or in the air.
You don’t know if your comrade is two hundred feet away or just two centimeters; you don’t know if a slight adjustment in direction will lead to a collision in the next second.
These are very difficult.
Fortunately, there are always ways to overcome difficulties; people have mastered the methods to execute missions at night.
The Flight Research Institute also decided to add contour lights to the aircraft. These contour lights adopt a unique design, where the bottom part is larger than the luminous part, non-transparent, and matte.
Thus, when viewed from below, the lights are invisible.
However, from a relatively horizontal angle, the contour comprised of lights is clearly visible, facilitating night flight missions.
As the formation unfolded, the squadron leader’s "bombing" command was issued; the cabin doors were opened, and special cluster bombs were dropped from the airfield. Death God had arrived!
Right below the bombing formation, the Mariluo Warlords’ coalition leaders were eating roast meat and chatting, a lifestyle that might be torturous for Federation people.
For those who have lived amidst chaos since childhood, it’s just everyday life.
They talked about the past, present, future, discussing Mariluo and the Federation.
Regarding the Federation, they lacked awe, as this sniping battle made them realize the Federation people weren’t as unbeatable as they initially imagined.
Indeed, they have some advanced weapons, but as long as their use can be restricted, the Federation cannot gain the upper hand on the battlefield.
The Federation people are too afraid of death; the moment there’s significant casualties, they retract their defenses, unlike the style of Mariluo Warlords.
If a gunman dies, the siblings, even parents and children of the deceased, will go to their corpse, pick up the weapon on the ground, and continue firing at the enemy.
They do not fear death; they will fight until the last person dies, only then will the battle truly stop.
Their fearless and tenacious fighting spirit brought many troubles to the Federation, which is why, despite having so many advanced weapons, the progress is still slow.
As they were talking, everyone in the room suddenly froze; the buzzing from the ear made them momentarily doubt if they were hallucinating.
But the sound grew louder, followed by a sharp whistling that seemed to pierce their eardrums, causing some to stand up in panic.
They didn’t understand what madness possessed the Federation to bomb at midnight, but... could they hit the target?
Thinking this, some sat back down, continuing to eat meat and drink, unaware that their lives had entered a countdown.
Cluster bomb mother units dropped from the aircraft cabin were rapidly falling, and inside these bombs was a timer.
The function of this timer was to deploy at the right time, ejecting shrapnel bombs stored inside.
The spring had already completed the last step, and at the moment it hit zero, the bomb’s tail rotor fuse was triggered; under mechanical force, four thin steel sheets suddenly opened a seam.
The wind resistance from rapid descent blew these steel sheets up, and the entire bomb looked like a... spinning four-leaved clover falling from the sky, continually rotating.
Meanwhile, a new mechanism began working, instantly ejecting four rows of neatly arranged shrapnel bombs (as in Figure 1...).
The spinning mother unit evenly scattered these shrapnel bombs around, and once they lost the safety pin, even a slight collision could cause them to explode.
The only relief may be that these shrapnel bombs won’t cause much damage to solid structures, but it will inevitably be a nightmare for temporary structures, people, and animals!
A soldier standing on a rooftop of a moving three-story building was drawn by the commotion in the sky; he lifted his head, watching a round shrapnel bomb fall from above.
Time seemed to slow, as if someone had twisted the speed; everything became slower. Fictional
He watched the bomb fall slowly, as if he could touch it by extending his hand.
He just looked at it, his mind not even registering, just watching it slowly, slowly land at his feet.
The next second, the shrapnel bomb burst open, countless fragments and steel rods instantly turned him into a sieve!
A shrapnel piece over an inch long tore through his jaw, slicing off half of his head.
The half head that flew off still had two wide-open eyes remaining; he couldn’t comprehend how such a small thing could have such destructive power.
But his questions were destined to be unanswered, as his life ended at that moment.
The warlord generals who were dining and drinking in the room all stood up, and the next second, explosions resounded around them, making them experience the terror as if doomsday had arrived!
The explosion instantly shattered all the glass in the house, with fragments and steel balls piercing through some boards; the sound in their ears was complex and tearing, as if a chunk of their eardrum had been ruthlessly torn away!
A general tilted his head as a shard pierced into it.
Immediately followed by a second one, a steel ball blasted another warlord general’s eye.
People kept getting injured, even hiding inside the house was not safe.
In that moment of explosion, everything within the bombing range fell into a pale state of emptiness.
After a few seconds, even a dozen seconds, when they came to, a sharp whistle sounded again in their ears—another round of bombing had begun!
During the bombing, Ryan hid in the dark, watching the distant buildings; when the last remnants of the flare’s light were about to disappear, he witnessed the bombing.
He opened his mouth wide, unsure how to describe the shock in his heart!
Countless smoke pillars rose instantly!
It wasn’t the result of a dozen or so planes bombing; it was like the result of dozens or hundreds of planes bombing simultaneously!
With the edge of the flare as the boundary, the city was divided into two parts.
The part they were in was quiet, peaceful, even the wind was very gentle. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
While the other world... it was as if some immense force had overturned it directly.
Dust accompanied by rolling smoke suddenly blew over from the opposite side, and Ryan quickly pressed his hat and lowered his head, covering his mouth and nose with his arm.
The clanging sound of collisions on the steel helmet and the strong smell of gunpowder in the air gave Ryan a strange excitement.
After this gust of airflow ended, raising his head again, the dense explosion sounds rang out once more.
That night, many couldn’t sleep.
In the middle of the night, Ryan fell asleep in a daze, and when he woke the next day, the first thing he saw was the sniper beside him.
The sniper wasn’t hiding behind any cover, just standing openly in a place without protection, watching everything outside, his eyes filled with shock.
Ryan hesitated for a moment, then scrambled up, looking at the hellish scene opposite, instinctively licking his lips.
"Damn it..."
He didn’t know who he was cursing or why he cursed, he uttered this sentence, and just stood there staring, with no intention to hide!
By now, the city opposite them could no longer be called a city; it was merely ruins!
You could hardly see an intact building; everything was destroyed.
They couldn’t even see a single person!
More Darkstone Security employees climbed up the fortifications, climbed high, each person’s mind was maximally shocked.
Everyone wanted to ask, what exactly happened last night?
Some military observers frantically took photos, surrounding the commanders and crazily asking what caused all this?
All resistance forces were easily wiped from the world in that brief moment.
The commanders quickly came to their senses, ordering soldiers to rapidly clean the battlefield and advance; in fact, they didn’t know what happened either, they too were eagerly wanting to know what happened.
At the center and near the center of the city, no living person could be found, not even a whole body of a living person; everywhere were severed bodies, limbs, organs...
Until they left the small city’s center area and approached the outskirts, they found an enemy.
Like a fool, he sat on the ground, eyes blankly gazing at the sky.
One of his ears was missing, a mass of blood and flesh, the wound was covered in dust.
Two fingers of his left hand were gone, his body was covered with injuries.
When people spoke to him, even touched him, he couldn’t quite react, just kept looking up at the sky, muttering some language unlike the common one.
This person was mad, everyone understood this fact, and this news quickly gathered on the tables of military institutions worldwide.
Looking at the overturned half city, everyone wanted to know how on earth it was caused.
"I want to know too!" Mr. Truman personally drove and cornered Lynch in his villa, "The Ministry of Defense is very tense, this weapon is too dangerous..."
He looked at Lynch, "They need you to provide some information, information that can reassure them."
