Chapter 1182: Chapter 1180: Report

When Charlie (sister) was rescued, she was still very conscious, and her body hadn’t suffered too severe injuries.

She had lost an ear, had one nostril torn, and a few teeth extracted.

Two fingers were cut off, and there were some damages or slices at some hidden parts on her body.

It was clear that Scarface was an expert; his methods were cunning, not threatening the victim’s life, yet inflicting maximum physical and psychological pain on them.

When Charlie (sister) came out, she saw the group lying on the stretchers.

There weren’t many survivors left. Scarface, that slightly dark-skinned woman, and two middle-aged men were alive, while the others were riddled with bullets in the first thirty seconds.

No place was safe from bullets and ricochets. Even those four who survived owed it to the help of their "companions".

Charlie (sister) looked at them, turned, and caught hold of the manager of Darkstone Security, staring at him with bloodshot and somewhat blood-filled eyes, "You have to save them, no matter how much it costs, it’s on me!"

Her grip was so strong that it made the manager’s arm feel tight. Without knowing their relationship, one might think they were accomplices.

But the manager knew why Charlie (sister) made such a request. He nodded, and at his signal, a field worker left with a doctor.

The client seeking revenge wasn’t a big problem.

Of course, there might be some procedural issues, but presumably, the upper echelons would resolve them.

Subsequently, the homeowner’s family was found in the storage room. Apart from the homeowner’s face being a little pale, the homeowner’s wife and children were only a bit frightened.

They thanked everyone for their "help" while accusing those people of cruelty and brutality in front of the late-arriving media.

The assistant director of the district police station stood in front of flashbulbs and cameras, explaining the police department’s role in the action. Nearby, the deputy director of the district FBI criticized the police for inaction while emphasizing the Investigation Bureau’s contribution to solving the case.

The special agents of the Security Committee quietly withdrew from the scene, and it seemed the glory belonged to these two men and the different institutions they represented at that moment.

But it wasn’t really the case.

The manager of Darkstone Security brushed off the local media with "nothing to disclose," but that didn’t mean Darkstone really had nothing to say.

Moreover, the public was also very aware that the case was actually led by Darkstone people. To most people, Darkstone didn’t seem entirely like a private company.

Its special nature often led people to unknowingly believe it might be a semi-official institution, with strong confidence in Darkstone!

They couldn’t quite explain why they felt this way, but they just did.

At 1 PM, Darkstone Security headquarters held a press conference.

The spokesman stood before the media with a smile as refreshing as a spring breeze, "It’s nice weather today!"

Standing behind the podium, he tidied up the documents on it and then began to talk about the content of today’s conference.

"Firstly, we assisted federal law enforcement agencies in finding and capturing those terrorists. It has also been confirmed that these people are related to a previous kidnapping case."

"Secondly, our client, who got lost during the attack at the station, has been found, with stable vital signs and a very calm mood."

"After watching the President’s television speech, Mr. Lynch expressed that Darkstone Security has the duty and necessity to cooperate with the Federation Government in targeting and combating terrorist activities and terrorists worldwide."

"Here, we warn those who try to achieve their demands through wrongful ways, be it national governments, corporate forces, or individuals, correct your erroneous courses before it’s too late!"

"Now, it’s time for questions and answers..."

All the reporters raised their hands instantly. Following convention, the spokesperson pointed to a reporter from a media outlet with which they had cooperative relations.

This choice is a potential rule, as there is often a mutual understanding between cooperative enterprises, ensuring no one loses face and making it relatively safer.

By the end, some opportunities might be saved for unfamiliar media. Even if the questions posed are overly tricky, the session can end by claiming the time is up.

The blonde beauty reporter won again.

Looking at her standing up, many reporters showed helpless expressions, merely hoping she’d ask something valuable.

Maybe... today’s blonde beauty reporter, being somewhat young, harbored her own thoughts. Unlike her blonde predecessors, her question was relatively sensitive.

"Good afternoon, Spokesperson..." They first exchanged pleasantries, then she threw out her question, "I just noticed you mentioned that Darkstone Security would assist the Federation Government in combating terrorist activities and terrorists globally."

"Does this mean Darkstone has the right to initiate fire first and has privileges equivalent to domestic law enforcement?"

"Who determines what is terrorism, and who are terrorists?"

A series of questions excited her peers. Indeed, these inquiries were sensitive and valuable, making them see that blondes aren’t necessarily fools.

The spokesperson raised an eyebrow, glanced at the nameplate of the female reporter. Although slightly distant, he could still make out her name.

After pondering for a while, he smiled and said, "Quite a few questions..."

This answer caused some reporters to chuckle; clearly, it was one question, yet it became multiple ones. The spokesperson doesn’t need to answer all questions but must possess quick wit.

No matter how rudely the question is asked by a reporter, one must never appear flustered or about to explode. That would make a laughingstock of oneself.

His response effectively alleviated the tension caused by the sensitive question. He spread his hands, "But the lady has a privilege!"

He glanced down, flipping through files unseen by others, then answered one by one—

"For the first question, Darkstone Security is a security company; our primary business is security, not offense."

"Any military operation will undergo rigorous safety evaluation before confirmation. We won’t easily establish unnecessary orders."

"Especially not unprovoked offensives; these won’t happen with us."

"As for the second question about domestic law enforcement rights, if the lady would slightly check the news, she’d know the President has specially approved a special requisition act, where Darkstone’s employees collaborate with police in enforcement."

He raised a finger, looking at everyone, "Note that it’s collaboration; we’re just supporting units, with local police being the primary enforcers. That’s the fact!"

"Regarding the third question and subsequent ones, actually, President’s speech yesterday clearly conveyed this to us."

"Suppose someone attempts or is in the process of attacking innocent civilians to create a terrifying atmosphere and force the Federation Government and people to succumb to their vile political objectives. In that case, such organizations or individuals are categorized as terrorism and terrorists."

"For these people, my answer remains the same as before. Once discovered, we will promptly report to the relevant Federation Government departments and firmly combat with no tolerance!"

"Everyone, particularly some internal and external forces, shouldn’t underestimate our determination."

"Peace is hard-earned; whoever disrupts peace is our enemy!"

After a moment of silence, the present reporters began applauding. The answer was powerful, and more importantly, it resonated with everyone’s mind.

The Federation people’s mindset is undergoing rapid change; they crave to demonstrate strength, aligned with the Darkstone Security spokesperson’s words.

No doubt, once the TV report airs, it will soon trigger a positive societal response.

The remaining questions were relatively mild, mostly revolving around Darkstone Security’s business and the rescued Federation billionaire.

When it became known she hadn’t signed any security agreement with Darkstone but only reached an intention, yet Darkstone tried their best to rescue her, Darkstone gained another halo.

Reliable and trustworthy!

After the press conference, the blonde beauty reporter returned to the newsroom. She added some Q&A content to the Darkstone Security press release and handed it to the chief editor.

Having joined not long ago, she always felt that letting Darkstone develop this way wasn’t a good thing.

Maybe she was inherently a conspiracy theorist, believing there’s surely a conspiracy behind it. Hence, her questions today were quite blunt.

Furthermore, regarding another aspect, college journalism courses taught her, if she wanted to quickly gain fame in this field and have her own column, the best way was sensationalism!

Make people feel horror logically. They’d think they’ve seen the truth, then start following a particular reporter, becoming a diehard fan.

That’s what her university professor said. Later, that professor resigned, reportedly entering politics as someone’s staff officer; somewhat regretful.

After waiting for about ten minutes, the chief editor raised his head, took off his reading glasses, and nodded noncommittally.

Just when she thought the chief editor would praise this news article or offer some comment, he suddenly looked at her, placing the news article aside.

"You are fired..."
