This was an irregular valley basin, several times wider than the paths they had passed through earlier.

The ground here had no giant boulders like the valley paths, and the soil was patchy with black and white spots, like many ugly patches, indicating the undead had cleaned this area of the valley.

However, everyone’s attention was not focused on these details, but on the large teleportation array in the center of the valley.

This teleportation array had three layers from top to bottom.

Each stone step was not very high, like three thinning pancakes stacked together, forming two neat stone rings about one meter wide each, aside from the top platform of the teleportation array.

Both the circular flat top of the teleportation array and the two stone rings centered around it bore complex and mysterious runes.

Some rune gaps still had traces of moss, but more had stone dust scattered about, as if newly carved.

It was due to these runes that this altar-like teleportation array was not mistaken for an altar.

The runes, which roughly formed an arcane circular pattern, had shiny magic crystals embedded at intervals.

At this moment, most of these magic crystals still glowed faintly, indicating that the teleportation array was still operational.

Upon seeing a group of undead standing at the edge of the teleportation array, this speculation was indirectly confirmed.

The number of undead was not large, only about twenty, mostly low-level cannon fodder, clearly just emerged from the teleportation array.

Aside from these low-level undead, Qin Lun and the others immediately noticed the Necromancer being protected behind them.

However, because the Dark Canopy was dispelled by the Blazing Sun, the Necromancer suffered severe mental backlash and was now lying on the ground, pale and retching dryly.

Paleness might be a hallmark of Necromancers, as such beings should no longer have blood circulation.

But lying on the ground and retching was definitely not a sign of early pregnancy.

“Damn Bonnie, he said these ruins couldn’t be repaired, so what are we looking at?” Philip said irritably. “At least seventy percent of the runes on this teleportation magical array are newly carved.”

“In a way, Knight Bonnie wasn’t wrong. This teleportation array might have been left over from thousands of years ago, with a completely different structure from modern ones, and truly couldn’t be repaired by anyone. After so long, those who understood it are long dead, and the array itself is badly eroded and incomplete…”

Robin said with a bitter smile, “But everyone seemed to forget that many of the undead in the Twin Towers are also figures from thousands of years ago. If this teleportation array is related to the Twin Towers, then it’s not entirely impossible for an undead to repair it based on residual memories.”

Qin Lun’s eyes flickered, but he said nothing. When he heard Bonnie’s account, he had already thought of Robin’s speculation.

However, his view differed slightly from the beautiful Leader’s, but he didn’t plan to correct her.

While everyone was discussing, the magic crystals embedded in the teleportation array nearby shone brightly, and after a flash, a group of about a dozen undead appeared in the center of the array.

“Seems it’s not time for chit-chat now. The teleportation array is still running; we should quickly secure the Necromancer,” said Idria, who came from a knight background, her eyes gleaming as she lifted her huge Double-bladed Battleaxe and charged towards the Necromancer.

The other Apostles stopped talking and raised their weapons to charge at the undead before them.

Their brief pause for conversation was merely to observe the situation and see if the Necromancer had any other hidden tricks.

But now it appeared that the Necromancer, despite the mental backlash, was still desperately summoning cannon fodder, clearly at the end of his rope, so they couldn’t let him recover.

Seeing everyone charging, the Necromancer hiding behind dozens of undead slowly lifted his bony skull, a hint of malice flashing in his soul-fire eyes.

He truly hadn’t expected that a momentary oversight would bring his long-planned scheme to the brink of collapse.

Earlier, because the teleportation array had just been repaired and the valley was short-handed, Bonnie and the others managed to escape, making him realize his plan might fail.

But he couldn’t be blamed; it was just bad luck.

After that, his response had been quite good, ignoring the drain on his essence to speed up the ancient teleportation array’s summoning ritual.

In just a few hours, he expanded his forces from over a hundred cannon fodder to over a thousand undead, and even specially summoned three Death Knights to retrieve a Relic capable of controlling large numbers of low-level undead.

The Death Knights were of the same rank as him and already possessed self-awareness; inviting them had cost him dearly.

His goal was to annihilate the second human reconnaissance team and wait for the final completion of his plan.

However, he hadn’t expected that even though he used the undead Relic to control over a thousand undead and trap the enemy, this time the enemies were unusually strong.

Not only were they not eliminated, but they desperately broke through into the valley.

As Qin Lun and the others saw, the Necromancer was now at his wit’s end and suffering from mental backlash due to the destruction of the Dark Canopy.

“Hasheed, haven’t you dealt with the trouble at the teleportation array yet?” Just as the Necromancer panicked, the soul-fire in one of the last batch of low-level undead cannon fodder, a Zombie, blazed intensely, and a hoarse, grating voice echoed in the Necromancer’s soul-fire.

“You… Lord Lundy?” The Necromancer was slightly stunned, then overjoyed. “Great! Please lend me a hand!”

“Tsk, you’re really useless. With Ilte and the others’ help and the undead magical device, you still ended up in such a mess!” The Zombie glanced at Robin and the others breaking through the last line of defense and grumbled discontentedly.

But before he could finish, the Zombie’s soul-fire suddenly flickered and went out, its rotting body abruptly collapsing to the ground.

“These low-level cannon fodder can’t handle much…” At the same time, another skeleton beside the Zombie had its soul-fire blaze again, as if the high-rank undead called Lundy had transferred to the skeleton.

“That’s because your strength is too great!” The Necromancer named Hasheed bowed obsequiously, though he secretly grumbled.

With a Demi-Lich’s soul-fire intensity possessing a Zombie or skeleton, their soul-fire would burn so fiercely they’d be lucky to last a few seconds.

“Heh, this Uwelun Elf teleportation array has been fully repaired by you, but the magical crystals needed to teleport me over are far from enough. At most, only one of my crafted undead beasts can be teleported.” The skeleton turned its head, humorously spreading its hands and shrugging its bony shoulders.

“Even one of your undead beasts is enough. Once Ilte and the others arrive, the enemies will surely die!” The Necromancer breathed a sigh of relief.

“Then be careful. The undead beast has no consciousness and recognizes no one but me. Don’t get accidentally hurt by it.” The skeleton’s soul-fire flickered a few times like the Zombie’s before and went out, the entire skeleton collapsing. “Hasheed, even if you must die, you must first fulfill your responsibility…”

Though the skeleton didn’t finish, Hasheed well understood what that responsibility was. Taking a deep breath, he raised his Wand high.

“Folks, speed up. That Necromancer seems to be making a last-ditch effort,” Robin said, her heart sinking. Even while fighting low-level undead, the beautiful Leader kept an eye on the Necromancer’s movements.

They couldn’t hear the telepathic communication between Hasheed and the Demi-Lich, but they could sense something amiss from the Necromancer’s actions.

The next moment, a high-pitched shriek erupted from the Necromancer’s mouth, the piercing sound soaring into the sky.

With the Necromancer’s “Fearful Scream,” everyone, including Robin, covered their ears in pain.

But the shriek seemed different from sound waves, acting directly on the mind and spiritual world, so covering their ears didn’t help much.

An intense fear overwhelmed them uncontrollably; they dropped their weapons and ran around the valley like headless chickens.

Those with weaker strength, Lorlin and Elr, bled from all seven orifices, swaying unsteadily and completely losing self-control.

However, the “Fearful Scream” didn’t only target the living; it was a high-level mind skill that affected both friend and foe.

Many low-level undead protecting the Necromancer collapsed in a heap, most of their soul-fires extinguishing directly.

“Good, that should delay them for over ten seconds, enough for Lord Lundy to teleport the undead beast over!” In his mentally backlashed state, right after casting “Fearful Scream,” the Necromancer collapsed to the ground, unable to move a finger.

“Is that so? But you definitely won’t get to see it!” A teasing voice suddenly came from behind the Necromancer.

“Who is it?” The Necromancer’s soul-fire jumped, and he struggled to turn around and look behind him.

“Thump!” Before Hasheed could turn his head, he felt a jolt as someone kicked him into the air. From the corner of his eye, he saw a slender figure flash past behind him.

“Impossible! Fearful Scream acts directly on the spiritual world. Even with a mind-protecting treasure, you can’t be completely immune!” The Necromancer screamed in disbelief.

“Heh, I don’t have just one spiritual world!”

“Boom!” A crystal-like mirror magical array suddenly flashed, and a figure chased Hasheed through the air, grabbing the Necromancer’s slender neck.

Hasheed turned his head in terror, black light flashing over his robe as a layer of black mist covered his body, blocking the figure’s hand.

The black mist seemed highly damaging to the living; as soon as the figure’s hands touched the Necromancer’s neck, they sizzled and corroded, the skin on the palms melting like wax.

However, the figure seemed not to feel the pain, gripping tighter instead, while a blood-red mist emanated from his hands.

Not only did it resist the black mist’s corrosion, but it also seemed to devour and dissolve the black mist.

“Who are you?” Staring at the demonic figure before him, the Necromancer shuddered, a chill running through him.

“Who am I? Hahaha, what an interesting toy!” The figure threw back his head and laughed, two points of red light shining from behind his silver hair. “Lord Joey hasn’t played with a dead person before; this time, I’ll definitely take good care of you!”
