Deities Are All Just My Food
Chapter 2435 - 1096: As Expected of My Great Lin God!
The cavalry swept in like a gale, hooves pounding the ground and kicking up rolling clouds of dust.
"God Lin!"
Someone watched those cavalry charge over,
and panicked.
In a distance of just over three hundred meters, the cavalry arrived in a blink.
Some stayed behind, crossbows in hand, aimed at Lin Baici and the others, while a portion of the cavalry kept charging.
Not everyone came over; a dozen-odd "little cuties" thought they were smart and turned to run.
The cavalry quickly caught up with them and a brutal melee erupted.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Arrows poured down in volleys.
Most of these little cuties were the unlucky bastards who’d been castrated. They’d lost their Divine Grace, figured entering Wang Cheng meant certain death, so they wanted to wait outside—and ended up getting hit by a cavalry raid first.
The cavalry’s combat power was impressive. At the first clash, they shot three people off their feet, then trampled over with their horses; blades rose and fell, chopping off their heads.
"Don’t kill us, we’re with those people!"
"We’re here to seek audience with the King!"
"God Lin, save us!"
The little cuties begged for mercy, cried for help, but it was useless. The hands gripping the cavalry’s sabers never hesitated for even half a second.
...
"Those people look pretty doomed, huh?"
Xia Hongyao shaded her eyes with her hand and glanced back.
The others didn’t have her leisure; they were all nervously watching the cavalry around them.
Their bows were bent, arrows nocked, aimed at their side, ready to launch an attack at any moment.
Soon, the fight behind them ended.
The cavalry rode back, and over a dozen of them were carrying a twisted, ferocious head in their hand.
Because those heads had just been hacked off, the rolled-back flesh at the neck still dripped bright blood.
"Who are you people?"
The leading General radiated authority without anger, sweeping his gaze over each of them. "Sneaking around outside Wang Cheng, wantonly spying. By law, you should all be executed!"
"We’re a foreign delegation, and we have prepared treasures we wish to present to the King!"
Xia Hongyao followed the plan they’d discussed beforehand and answered him.
"A delegation?"
The General held the reins in his right hand, strolling slowly in the saddle. "Treasures?"
"Yes, very precious treasures!"
Xia Hongyao wasn’t just making things up.
They’d found a Luminous Pearl and the Fish Intestine Sword in the sunken ship. Those two items were definitely priceless. If even those couldn’t satisfy the King, they still had Taboo things.
"Where are they? Let me have a look."
The General asked.
"No. These are tribute for the King. Ordinary people are not allowed to see them."
Xia Hongyao refused.
Even though the guy in front of her commanded a cavalry unit and should have some official rank, it wasn’t enough. To even think about seeing the treasures, he’d at least have to be on the Grand Minister of the Imperial Horses level.
"Insolent!"
"Outrageous!"
"Arrogant!"
The cavalry saw Xia Hongyao disrespecting the General, immediately shouted in anger, ready to do Archery and then hack these people to pieces.
"God Xia, just show it to him!"
"Fuck, I really wanna kill them!"
"Can you shut up?"
Quite a few people whispered among themselves.
[Don’t show it to him. If you do, you’re dead for sure!]
The Eater God commented.
Lin Baici raised an eyebrow. What did that mean?
The other side would get greedy and rob them?
Lin Baici didn’t even need to warn her. Xia Hongyao was bold to begin with and didn’t give this General the time of day.
"I want to see the Prime Minister, I want to see the Grand Commandant. I have peerless treasures to offer to the King!"
Xia Hongyao shouted, deliberately letting the guards at Wang Cheng hear as well.
"Shut up!"
The General bellowed, first glancing toward Wang Cheng, then glaring viciously at Xia Hongyao before ordering, "Come with me!"
The cavalry escorted Lin Baici and the others toward the city gate.
If Xia Hongyao had shown this General the tribute, it would have triggered rule pollution—in other words, he would have killed them all to silence them.
Now, that round of pollution had been avoided.
They arrived in front of the city gate.
The General shouted a few lines up at the soldiers on the wall, explaining who Lin Baici and the others claimed to be, and then, amid the creaking of winches, the drawbridge was lowered.
Bang!
The wide drawbridge slammed onto the ground.
"Ten at a time, come over for a search."
The General barked, "Once you enter Wang Cheng, no whispering to each other, no looking around!"
Everyone looked at Lin Baici, then glanced at Dudek. Those wild-card players were very self-aware, figured Lin Baici would force them to scout ahead, so they all ducked their heads and shuffled backward.
"What are you backing up for?"
Chestnut medal snapped, "You ten, step up first!"
"Or I’ll gut you myself!"
The wild-card bunch looked awful.
"Hurry up!"
The General urged.
In God’s ruins, strength was everything. The weak had no human rights whatsoever.
Those unlucky bastards who’d been castrated and could no longer use Divine Grace naturally got kicked out as the first batch.
The cavalry went up and roughly searched them. Even though they didn’t resist, the cavalry’s fists, boots, and horsewhips still slammed into them mercilessly.
After the search, the ten of them were shoved toward the drawbridge.
"Get moving!"
The drawbridge was wooden, nine meters wide and twenty-seven meters long, chained together with thick iron cables.
The ten unlucky bastards originally wanted to wait for the others, but the cavalry wouldn’t allow it and started beating them again with fists and feet.
They had no choice but to step onto the bridge, trembling.
"Bunch of idiots, move it!"
Chestnut medal called out.
On the surface, his words sounded like a reminder—that the less time spent on the bridge, the safer they’d be if something went wrong. In reality, he just thought they were too slow.
The unlucky ones were too nervous, their minds a mess, unable to think that far, and once they got on the bridge, a stretched-out neck or a shrunk-in neck was still one chop anyway, so they sped up and ran toward the other side. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"Seems like there’s no problem?"
A twenty-meter drawbridge could be crossed in just a few seconds at a run.
