The barrier shook but it didn’t break, even Adrian was surprised. Annie pretended she had expected this.

But Ved could feel her emotions through their mate’s bond and he knew she was just as surprised.

After all, Ved was at level 4 now, only a shy distance from level 5. In the past 8 years he had consumed a lot of hearts.

He even personally hunted powerful Gadra and Fayera who went astray to consume their hearts.

As a matter of fact, all the Gemma and up were now at level 4 including Annie’s parents, Naija had even reached level 5 even faster than the Delta werewolves.

So it was really a suprise to see this barrier hold up against Adrian who had enough power to battle a level 5 Gadra singlehandedly.

The only thing stopping him from reaching level 5 was the very thing that made him so much more powerful than others.

To reach level 5 one must create a domain, a domain wasn’t anything impressive or too mystical.

You just needed to be able to actively control your esper well enough to spread it outside your body. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

By doing this you create a domain that replaces the ambient esper with your own around you.

With in this domain, your abilities are enhanced significantly while your opponent’s are weakened.

However actively controlling esper was much harder when your esper was pure and thick such as his.

" Okay, you can dispell the barrier now, you were right, it’s quite powerful, well done." Annie grinned from the praise.

She dispelled the spell and for the first time in months she left the library. The first thing she did was shower.

" I’m going to visit my parents, are you coming along?"

He shook his head, " The fox tail is no longer enough to mask me, I can’t draw attention to them."

She nodded and gave him a kiss then left. As soon as she disappeared Adrian felt a splitting headache.

His head started spinning and he went on his knees then blacked out. He found himself standing in what appeared to be a town.

This town had mirrors, mirrors everywhere and in every mirror he saw a woman with pale white skin and long white hair.

The woman had her eyes closed but tears of blood ran down her cheeks. Her long white dress danced with the wind.

Although he was looking at her, he couldn’t see her face clearly. Then he felt himself being yanked.

He opened his eyes and he was back in his real body. ’ Damnit, they’re back.’ It’s been eight years since he had a vision.

Last time it was about black smoke and embers rising from the ground which he learnt symbolised the rising of demons from hell.

’ I need to talk to Annie, she might know something about this.’ He thought to himself.

He planned to wait until she came back so as to not disturb her time with her parents.

Somewhere on one of the six continents of the human world, on an apartment complex. A woman and man stood in front of an apartment door.

" Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow." The woman said and kissed the man passionately. They hugged a bit longer then he left.

She reached in her pocket and pulled out her keys and unlocked the door. Her apartment was dark.

She turned the light on but as soon as she did she saw somebody sitting on her couch watching her.

The woman was so startled she almost fell on her back. Then she started shaking with fear and backing off.

The other party stood up, it was a woman of equal build to this one. " You’ve made it quite a hassle to find you."

The other woman drew closer, the apartment owner backed off until her back leaned against the door.

The other woman stopped, " You’re scared?" Her voice sounded confused. " How are you scared?"

The apartment owner shook her head, " I don’t know, please please don’t hurt me please." She cried.

" Do you know who I am? This is strange, this is very strange, it doesn’t make any sense."

" I know, I know who you are and I know why you’re here, I’m begging you please don’t do this."

The other woman took of her hood revealing a face that was identical to the apartment owner.

The only difference between them was their hair colour, one had black and the other had red hair. Other than that, they might as well been twins.

" So tell me, how is this possible? How did you gain consciousness beyond my own, how are you no longer me?"

She sounded really confused but the red headed woman didn’t know how to answer so she just shook her head.

" I..I don’t know, one day I just woke up and I was different, alive I really don’t know how it happened I swear."

The black headed woman nodded, " I see, it still doesn’t change what you are and I’ve come to retrieve what is mine."

" No no please, that will kill me, please don’t kill me." She cried and tried to back off to no avail.

Realising she couldn’t get away, " Yiza." She cast a spell. The air above her head split vertically.

A thin black slit like a rip in space appeared and a claw crawled out. A single claw as large as a wall cabinet.

It was blood red in colour with flesh and blood visible throughout as if it had had it skin peeled off.

Before the claw could attack, the other woman waved her hand and both the claw and the slit disappeared.

This made the woman who had attacked despair. Her back slid down door and she sat iyn the floor, hugged her knees and cried.

" Please please don’t kill me." She kept muttering between her sobs. " I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die please."

" You were never meant to exist, you are not but my memories and I need them back." She reached out then stopped.

She closed her eyes then opened them with a frown. " So it has begun, at least it isn’t me this time."

Then she plunged her hand into the chest of the other woman.

At the same on another continent, Annie appeared outside her parent’s villa but found them standing outside.

" Mom, dad, what’s wrong, why do you look so gloomy?" Annie asked with worry. The twins were nowhere to be seen.

Her first thought was that something had happened to them until her mother clarified.

" You know Jim? Jim who lived in that nice house over there" she pointed at a house a few kilometres away.

Annie didn’t know Jim but if she said that, her mother will continue to tell her about Jim for the next 30 minutes so she just nodded.

" Well he’s dead."
