Dimensional Hotel
Chapter 727 - 726: Legal Identity
A slight sense of dizziness flashed and disappeared. When Yu Sheng opened his eyes again, he saw the towering Holy Light Angel floating opposite him, with a somewhat transparent face that seemed to carry a curious expression.
She seemed puzzled as to why she suddenly fell into the "Dream Realm" just now, and even more puzzled as to why she saw Yu Sheng and Erin in the dream.
"Freyia."
Yu Sheng tried calling her name.
Freyia was stunned for a moment, then began nodding vigorously, her face breaking into a happy smile.
"Okay, at least I know your name," Yu Sheng breathed a slight sigh of relief and then caught a glimpse from the corner of his eye of the little puppet sitting on the coffee table with its head drooping, "...what’s wrong with you again?"
"I miss being 1.67 meters tall in the dream," Erin muttered without lifting her head, "Don’t bother me, let me reminisce a bit more."
Yu Sheng: "..."
He once again marveled at the little one’s wonderfully positive mindset and pulled out his phone to start messaging Baili Qing.
About the illusion he saw deep within Freyia’s "Thousand Soul Consciousness," about the blind Prophet called Kongdaman, and the memory fragments he left behind.
Less than half a minute after the message was sent, Baili Qing called directly.
Yu Sheng had just picked up the phone and had no time to speak before the familiar, calm voice came through the earpiece: "You just got home today."
Yu Sheng’s expression stiffened, and before he could speak, a slightly distant voice came through the receiver: "Just today, huh, living dad!"
This voice carried deliberate exaggeration and teasing, unmistakably the antics of Baili Xue.
"Xue, stop messing around." Baili Qing’s slightly dissatisfied reprimand came through the phone.
"I also didn’t expect it," Yu Sheng awkwardly began to speak, "I just wanted to figure out the name of this Living Saint... who knew that deep within her subconscious there would still be memories inherited from the Dark Angel..."
On the other side of the phone, Baili Qing seemed to take a deep breath.
"Alright, in any case, this is important intelligence," her voice remained as calm as ever, "especially since that ’Prophet’ mentioned words like ark and captain... did he mention a window period?"
"Yes, he did mention a window period," Yu Sheng said as he recalled, "from the entire context and the intelligence we currently have, it seems the Dark Angels have indeed been attempting in an organized, conscious manner to enter this universe, with the World Bridge Descent 3700 years ago being one of their largest attempts. If we’re talking about a window period, it must have started at least from that time... that prophet mentioned ’ark,’ which most likely refers to our world... and it seems there’s the tacit approval of ’Captain’ behind this matter."
"The Creator..." Baili Qing said softly, "There’s the tacit approval of the Creator behind the Dark Angel phenomenon? If this news were to spread..."
"I suspect it was tacit approval at first, but after the World Bridge failure, this matter likely exceeded the expectations of the Ancient Saints and Dark Angels," Yu Sheng carefully chose his words, "After all, Erin’s first mission back then was not only to receive the Omen Goddess but also to be vigilant of the Outer God losing control..."
"Additionally, I guess not all Dark Angels play by the rules. Based on the intelligence we’ve gathered so far, Dark Angels are fragments of worlds generated after experiencing the Great Annihilation, and there’s a variety of them. Some of them are uncontrollable, crashing through without restraint— even the Ancient Saints can’t stop them."
Yu Sheng speculated about the matter based on his understanding, while Baili Qing’s tone sounded incredulous: "...even the Ancient Saints, and that Creator, could encounter something completely beyond control?"
Yu Sheng opened his mouth but hesitated to share the message from the Creator he found in the underlying information structure of the universe, which stated, "A single bug is a bug, but a bunch of bugs can work."
After all, the people of this world genuinely revere the "Captain" who reshaped all things, and some truths that are not meant for outsiders do not need to be shared...
After a few more words, Yu Sheng hung up the phone.
Hu Li and Erin turned their heads together, stretching their necks, their bright eyes fixed on him.
"Savior, I heard that the Prophet named Kongdaman was once Erin’s subordinate?"
"You could say that," Yu Sheng contemplated for a moment, "come to think of it, this Prophet Kongdaman does seem to be a very unique existence..."
Erin blinked, her eyes as clear as ever: "Why do you say that?"
"Because so far, every Dark Angel we’ve encountered has been the only fragment left after the destruction of their home universe—but the Omen Goddess’s world left behind two entities."
"One is the Omen Goddess, who got into trouble crossing the World Bridge 3700 years ago, and the other is the Goddess’s prophet, Kongdaman. Currently, it seems this prophet has turned into numerous fragments, and these fragments are contacting other Dark Angels everywhere or passing messages to this universe, like the one Master Yuan Hao encountered.
"Doesn’t that seem special? And this prophet retains some humanity and sanity, being able to leave messages in memory echoes and communicate with Master Yuan Hao... other Dark Angels generally have no ability to communicate directly with people; they’ve either been warped into incomprehensible forms when entering our universe...
"How did he maintain such a human form and complete sanity? You know, when the Omen Goddess descended from the World Bridge back then, she was only awake for a moment, and her memory and sanity were almost entirely gone by the time she fused with Erin."
"What are you talking about? I was perfectly lucid when I crossed the World Bridge!" The little puppet on the coffee table immediately jumped up, "I knocked myself out with a frying pan! I had to use so much force to knock myself out, and thinking about it now, it makes me angry. Why did I work so hard back then? It was totally due to lack of experience..."
The little figure stood with hands on hips, shouting energetically. Yu Sheng never imagined that words could be organized in such a way— his accumulated knowledge from writing novels for so many years seemed so weak in comparison to Erin’s incredible language system.
Then he looked up again and saw Freyia floating opposite him, her head spinning in confusion, her figure even becoming slightly blurrier.
"Stop, stop, I get it," Yu Sheng quickly waved his hand for the little puppet to quiet down, "but there’s a newbie here who’s already dizzy from what you said."
Erin turned her head suddenly, full of surprise: "Wow, your soul is quite shallow!"
Yu Sheng’s face twitched, but the vibration from his phone quickly interrupted his train of thought. When he looked at the phone, it was another message from a familiar face...
Moments later, he opened the door to No. 66 Wutong Road and looked at the short-haired girl with a briefcase in front of him.
"It really is you..."
"Mr. Yu, long time no see!" Ren Wenwen beamed, "The Leader sent me to register the identity of the new member here, saying I’m quite familiar with your place."
Well, it was expected.
Yu Sheng stepped aside to let her in just in time, speaking before this shipper could start: "Come in, the one you’re registering is floating around in the living room."
Ren Wenwen walked inside, and turned her head in confusion: "Floating?"
Before she finished speaking, a white shadow swayed from the edge of her vision.
Next second, a translucent long-haired head poked out from the top of a nearby cabinet, dangling down, curiously looking at the stranger entering the living room.
Yu Sheng: "..."
Freyia: "..."
"Whoa!?" Ren Wenwen jumped right on the spot, almost throwing her bag, "There is a ghost—"
"Stop, stop, calm down, calm down," Yu Sheng quickly waved his hand in front of her, "That’s the one you need to register... Hey, wait a minute, aren’t you a staff member at the Special Service Bureau? You deal with all sorts of bizarre races regularly, yet you still get scared?"
"The spiritual entities I usually encounter don’t pop half their heads out of cabinet tops to scare people!" Ren Wenwen stared with wide eyes, looking quite shaken.
But indeed she was worthy of being a Special Service Bureau staff, though thoroughly frightened, she quickly regained her composure, realizing within two seconds what was happening. Her terrified expression turned into a mix of resentment and awkwardness.
"Purposely trying to scare me?"
"Not really, she’s just scared of strangers," Yu Sheng waved his hand, "Besides, she doesn’t quite grasp the concept of physical barriers in the real world. Usually, she moves around in straight lines, passing through everything."
Ren Wenwen stared intently at Freyia floating mid-air for a long time. Finally, with a fatigued sigh, she turned to Yu Sheng: "Alright... it’s about time I got used to the peculiar members here."
Moments later, a tall angel with wings settled quietly beside the coffee table, curiously eyeing the Special Service Bureau clerk seated opposite.
"Name?" Ren Wenwen asked, lifting her head.
"Freyia," Yu Sheng answered, adding, "She can’t speak... or I should say people generally can’t understand her. She communicates through high-frequency energy vibrations."
Ren Wenwen opened her mouth slightly, Yu Sheng quickly followed up: "She can’t write either, nor does she recognize words, you’re aware of the situation on the Hidden Monastery side..."
"...Alright," Ren Wenwen sighed again, "I understand. Next question, what is the race?"
Yu Sheng thought for a moment: "She used to be human."
"I’m talking about now," Ren Wenwen lifted her eyelids, "Identity registration needs to be timely. Also, ’energy body’ is a broad category, covering light, dark, magnetic, elemental, spiritual energy, and soul body... You have to pick one."
"Then choose spiritual energy, but she also possesses strong Holy Light power—enough Holy Light to scorch Director Red’s skin in Boundary Land, plus she seems to fit under undead..."
"Too chaotic, let’s follow the usual practice and fill in ’travel agency member’ as her race."
Yu Sheng’s expression became subtle: "Could we not use that? Even so, using that as a race name is a bit..."
"No," Ren Wenwen said casually, quickly filling ’travel agency member’ for Freyia, continuing further, "Date of birth... alright, I’ll just put ’to be determined’, follow usual practice for other fields. Lastly, we need a certificate photo. Come, look over here."
Freyia shifted her gaze, curiously looking at Ren Wenwen raising her phone.
Ren Wenwen silently stared at her phone screen.
"The resolution is this high," Yu Sheng said beside her without much confidence, "Actually, her face is visible, just a bit transparent. Consider this good, when I first met her, her features were indiscernible, the face was completely blurry."
Ren Wenwen wordlessly stowed her phone away, then took another small device from her bag.
"What’s this?" Yu Sheng asked curiously.
"Spectral analysis integrator."
"...You even need this device to process an ID card?!"
"Yeah, Boundary Land is a place rich in talent..."
