Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 178: The Wang Family
While the Monk and Daoist fumed, Lin Yun made his way with a light step to the Demon Beast Essence Blood Shop. He was met by the same old man and followed him to the second floor again, where Lin Yun stated his business.
"Forty drops of Tier Two Demon Beast Essence Blood? That will be eighty thousand Primordial Stones in total," the old man said.
Lin Yun only had seventy thousand Primordial Stones on him. He paid with four Space Rings, valued at forty thousand Primordial Stones, and added forty thousand of his own stones. In exchange, he received forty drops of Tier Two Demon Beast Essence Blood from the old man.
After buying forty drops of Tier Two Demon Beast Essence Blood at once, Lin Yun was instantly left with only thirty thousand Primordial Stones. However, he didn’t feel it was a loss in the slightest. ’Money is meant to be spent. A mere eighty thousand Primordial Stones is a small price to pay for a breakthrough in strength. I won’t lose any sleep over it.’
After safely storing the Demon Beast Essence Blood, Lin Yun left immediately. He didn’t linger on the streets and quickly returned to his inn to begin refining his body with the Demon Beast Essence Blood.
Lin Yun was experienced now. Although he still had to endure immense pain every time he consumed the Demon Beast Essence Blood, it was a great deal better than his first time.
Right now, his body could barely withstand even Tier Two Demon Beast Essence Blood. This was why he had held onto that single drop of a Tier Three Demon Beast’s Essence Blood until now.
Lin Yun understood the principle that anything taken to an extreme would backfire. ’If I can’t grasp my own body’s Limit and rashly use the Tier Three Demon Beast Essence Blood for Body Refining, it’s very likely something will go wrong.’
For a full hour, Lin Yun’s entire body was drenched in sweat, and his face became incredibly pale. He was already used to these reactions.
Fortunately, he no longer passed out immediately afterward. Sitting cross-legged on the bed, Lin Yun slowly regulated his internal state, and the color gradually returned to his bloodless face.
He had refined one drop of Tier Two Demon Beast Essence Blood. As he consumed more Essence Blood, the returns would slowly diminish. ’This is a long and arduous journey. Only through constant perseverance will there be rewards. Such is the path of Body Refining; there are no shortcuts to success.’
After an hour, Lin Yun’s stamina gradually returned. Although he wasn’t at his Peak, he had recovered the majority of it. ’In a place like the Capital City where fighting is forbidden, as long as I can move freely, there shouldn’t be a problem. The rest can recover on its own.’
After changing into a set of clean clothes, Lin Yun thought, ’I should let Wangcai and the others know that I’ve left the Qing Zhu Tavern. It’ll be a problem if they go looking for me there and can’t find me.’
He asked the innkeeper for the location of the Wang Family estate. As the wealthiest family in the Capital City, they weren’t hard to find, though their residence was quite a distance from where Lin Yun was staying.
As Lin Yun headed toward the Wang Family’s estate, a scene was unfolding back at the Qing Zhu Tavern. A cold, indifferent man stood beside Qing Zhu. Judging by the aura he exuded, he was clearly a Primordial Ocean Realm expert.
To have a Primordial Ocean Realm expert as an attendant—if Lin Yun were present, he would have no choice but to admit he had greatly underestimated Qing Zhu’s identity.
In all of Yanhuang Country, aside from the direct Royal Family Lineage, likely no one else could command the service of a Primordial Ocean Realm expert.
"He went to the Wang Family?" Qing Zhu asked softly.
"Yes. I saw him go to the Wang Family myself," the man replied.
Qing Zhu gave a cryptic smile, one that seemed to hold the confidence of someone in complete control. Just then, the indifferent man beside her spoke up. "Miss, there’s something I want to say, but I don’t know if I should."
"Speak," Qing Zhu said.
"Miss, I don’t believe that boy can do it. This place is too backward, and its Martial Arts are in an abysmal state. He might be considered a genius here, but with his talent, he probably wouldn’t even be worth mentioning in the Southeast Domain," the indifferent man said bluntly.
Hearing this, Qing Zhu’s expression didn’t change. She began to speak, and though her words were for the man, she sounded more like she was talking to herself.
"You know why I’ve remained in Yanhuang Country. Besides, I trust my intuition. He won’t disappoint me."
"And another thing," she continued, an extreme, icy chill emanating from her, "some matters are not for you to question. If it happens again... you know the consequences."
The man hurriedly fell to his knees, stricken with fear. He had witnessed Qing Zhu’s methods firsthand. ’This beautiful woman is nowhere near as simple as she seems. It’s no exaggeration to say that if she wanted to annihilate all of Yanhuang Country, it would take but a single word.’
With a dismissive wave of her hand, the man retreated, leaving Qing Zhu alone. She gazed toward the horizon, a playful look on her face. ’I’ve searched for so long... Young Master Lin, you had better not disappoint me.’
Lin Yun, however, was completely unaware of all this. He didn’t know Qing Zhu to begin with and had no time to spare her any thought. By now, he had arrived at the gate of the Wang Family estate.
The red gates looked quite imposing. Even the door handles were cast from pure gold. This gate alone was enough to show that the Wang Family’s financial power was indeed formidable.
"Halt! What do you want?" Seeing Lin Yun approach, the two Wang Family guards manning the gate stopped him and demanded.
"I’m looking for Wangcai," he replied simply.
The moment the guards heard he was looking for Wangcai, their faces instantly twisted into expressions of contempt, and their gazes turned cold.
Judging from the guards’ expressions, Lin Yun was taken aback. ’Is Wangcai’s status in the family really that bad? Even the guards have no respect for him.’
"State your name. We will inform the Patriarch and await his decision." Now that they knew he was here for Wangcai, the guard’s tone became frigid, as if even speaking to Lin Yun was beneath him.
’Snobs judging a book by its cover.’ Lin Yun didn’t let it bother him. He gave his name, and after one of the guards left to deliver the message, Lin Yun waited quietly at the gate.
The guard had just entered the estate and was not yet at the main hall when he ran into Wang Yun. Seeing the guard was in a hurry to report something, Wang Yun stopped him. "What’s wrong?"
"Young Master, there’s a man named Lin Shan at the gate looking for Wangcai. I was just on my way to inform the Patriarch," the guard replied respectfully.
"Lin Shan..." Hearing the name, Wang Yun quickly recalled who it must be. ’That’s the guy from the city gate, the one who completely disrespected me.’
’The brat actually dared to deliver himself to my doorstep,’ he thought. Then, Wang Yun ordered the guard.
"Bring him to the Martial Arts Training Ground," Wang Yun instructed. ’Let’s see if he can still be so arrogant here, within the walls of the Wang Family estate.’ 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Hearing Wang Yun’s command, the guard did as he was told, though he didn’t know what the Young Master was planning.
A cold smirk spread across Wang Yun’s face as he turned and headed for the Martial Arts Training Ground. He was already picturing the scene of beating Lin Yun to a bloody pulp.
’Fighting is forbidden within the Imperial City, but once he’s inside the Wang Family estate, he’s on private property. Then, whatever happens will be entirely up to me, Wang Yun.’
