Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 212: Killing You Is Like Slaughtering a Dog
Lin Yun’s life-or-death fighting style chilled Kang Lai to the bone. He even abandoned the Longsword in his hand, retreating instantly. He didn’t stop until he was more than ten meters away from Lin Yun, his eyes filled with terror as he stared at his opponent.
The blood-colored Longsword was still embedded in Lin Yun’s shoulder. He pulled it out, his eyes filled with thick disdain as he looked at Kang Lai. "You’d even abandon the sword in your hand. Kang Lai, how did you ever become a Martial Artist?"
Up to this point, Kang Lai appeared to be in much better condition than Lin Yun, but in terms of momentum, he had already been thoroughly crushed.
This was not a matter of strength, but a testament to their character. Facing Lin Yun, Kang Lai’s vile nature was completely exposed. Even though he had the ability to fight Lin Yun to the death, Kang Lai didn’t dare.
Tossing the blood-colored Longsword aside, Lin Yun walked slowly toward Kang Lai. Every step he took left a bloody footprint.
Like an Asura bathed in blood, Lin Yun closed in step by step. Kang Lai retreated again and again, until he could retreat no more. After a visible struggle, a hint of madness finally twisted his features.
A cornered rabbit will bite, and right now, Kang Lai was that desperate rabbit. To live, he had to kill Lin Yun. He kept telling himself, reassuring himself not to be afraid of Lin Yun.
"Lin Shan, you’re the one who forced me to do this," he said, a note of madness in his voice as he lunged at Lin Yun.
"Forced you? You think you’re worthy?" Lin Yun replied coldly, moving forward to meet the attack.
The two fought on. By now, Kang Lai had no path of retreat. Fear would only lead to a quicker death. To survive, he had to kill Lin Yun.
It was no longer a one-sided exchange. Just as Lin Yun fought with his life on the line, so too did Kang Lai. In Kang Lai’s mind, Lin Yun’s injuries were ten times more severe than his own; he was determined to wear Lin Yun down to death.
As the two exchanged blows, Kang Lai dodged most of Lin Yun’s attacks, and even when one landed, Kang Lai would immediately counter.
After another round of fighting, Lin Yun could barely stay on his feet. Kang Lai, in contrast, though he had some new wounds, was largely unharmed. His Combat Power was still formidable.
Using his Bone Spear to prop himself up, Lin Yun found it immensely difficult to even stand. Seeing him so heavily injured, Kang Lai laughed like a madman, "Haha, Lin Shan, come on! Aren’t you so tough? Come on! Come and kill me!"
Kang Lai’s nature made everyone in the audience look down on him. While most of them were spoiled, unaccomplished children of the Capital City’s elite, they still admired the strong.
No one on earth would ever admire a vile man. No matter how great his achievements, a vile man will never earn people’s respect; at most, he can only make them fear him.
"Lin Shan, kill him...!" It’s unknown who shouted first, but in an instant, the entire Battle Arena was filled with a continuous roar of voices.
"Kill him! That vile man! And he’s supposed to be one of the ten great geniuses of the Yanhuang List? Bah!"
"Lin Shan, kill him! My Chen Family is willing to offer you a Bone Healing Pill!"
"Kill... kill him...!"
Everyone wanted to see Lin Yun kill Kang Lai. When the shouts reached Kang Lai’s ears, his expression became even more crazed. He, one of the ten great geniuses of the Yanhuang List, had become a pariah that everyone was screaming to have killed.
Like Kang Lai, the Fifth Prince also wore a grim expression. He silently cursed Kang Lai back to his earliest ancestors. ’This was a perfect opportunity, but who could have expected this? That worthless coward Kang Lai actually managed to bungle it, and in doing so, only made Lin Yun seem more dominant.’
"Fifth Prince, it looks like one of the Yanhuang List’s ten great geniuses will be unseated today. I wonder how you, as number nine, feel about that?" Qing Zhu said with a light laugh, a smile playing on her lips.
"Hmph, I’m not a piece of trash like Kang Lai." With a cold snort, the Fifth Prince offered no further argument. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
In the Royal Family’s exclusive box, the Fifth Prince’s face was dark and cold, while Qing Zhu’s lovely eyes remained fixed on Lin Yun. Her few encounters with him had made her more and more intrigued.
"Lin Shan, I will kill you today! It was you! You’re the one who ruined my lifelong reputation!" Being treated like a pariah had driven Kang Lai completely mad. He valued his reputation above all else; he enjoyed the feeling of being praised to the heavens.
"Lifelong reputation? You’re nothing more than a vile man," Lin Yun replied faintly.
"Aaargh, die!" Kang Lai roared, blasting toward Lin Yun. Seeing this, Lin Yun raised his Bone Spear and thrust it at him.
Because his injuries were becoming more and more severe, Lin Yun’s thrust was much slower. Kang Lai easily dodged it, and upon reaching Lin Yun, he slammed a fist into his chest.
Taking another blow, Lin Yun spat out a mouthful of blood. His body flew back more than ten meters before crashing hard onto the ground. He couldn’t even keep his grip on the Bone Spear, which landed and stuck in the ground ten meters away from him.
Lying on the ground, Lin Yun’s entire body was dyed red with blood. A full dozen breaths passed before he struggled back to his feet.
He stood there, swaying, having truly reached the point of utter exhaustion. It seemed as if a gust of wind could blow him over.
This had never been a fair fight. Now, it wasn’t just Chen Xin and her two companions; many of the wealthy children in the audience were breaking out in a cold sweat for Lin Yun. In their eyes, Kang Lai wasn’t worthy of being compared to even a fraction of Lin Yun, because he was contemptible and lacked the confidence and bearing a genius should have.
An opportunist who preyed on the vulnerable would never win the world’s admiration. Conversely, Lin Yun, who faced Kang Lai despite his grievous injuries, had already won over the hearts of the crowd. Regardless of the outcome, many people already considered Lin Yun one of the ten great geniuses of the Yanhuang List.
"Lin Shan, today I will wash away my shame with your life." With Lin Yun completely exhausted, Kang Lai was confident he could kill him in a single blow.
He threw out a killing blow. Convinced that Lin Yun had no strength to fight back, Kang Lai was overjoyed and completely without defense. As he saw it, this punch was the one that would send Lin Yun to Hell.
Just as Kang Lai had expected, his fist slammed into Lin Yun’s chest. The sound of bones cracking, CRACK CRACK, was like beautiful music to Kang Lai’s ears.
The smile on his face slowly widened, but just then, an excruciating pain shot through Kang Lai’s entire body. The smile instantly transformed into terror. Looking down at his own chest, he saw that Lin Yun’s entire arm had pierced through it, and his heart was now held in Lin Yun’s hand.
"Killing you is as easy as slaughtering a dog." A slight smile touched his blood-soaked face, and his stark white teeth made Lin Yun look like a demon from Hell.
With those words, Lin Yun crushed Kang Lai’s heart. As his heart was destroyed, Kang Lai’s face twisted in agony. He looked at Lin Yun with a hint of disbelief, never having thought that he would actually die at Lin Yun’s hands.
If Kang Lai had maintained even a shred of vigilance, Lin Yun could not have succeeded. The blame could only be placed on him for overestimating himself and underestimating Lin Yun.
