Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 227: The Frenzied Monk and Daoist
The intelligent Black-striped Tiger knew the Monk had set his greedy sights on it and let out a furious roar. For a Tier Three Demon Beast, whose power was comparable to a Primordial Ocean Realm expert, to be targeted by a mere Qi Sea Realm monk—how could it not be enraged? 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Sir, please hand the Black-striped Tiger over to me. The Buddhist Family saves all living beings, and I cannot stand by and watch a vicious creature wreak havoc upon the world," the Monk said, sounding perfectly self-righteous.
The Monk’s words were steeped in righteous grandeur, but Lin Yun was simply speechless at their shamelessness. ’Do these two only have eyes for money?’
"Impossible," Lin Yun refused flatly.
Hearing Lin Yun’s refusal, the Monk adopted a compassionate facade. "Amitabha. In that case, Sir, don’t blame me for what comes next."
With that, the Monk’s feet moved—it was Inch Step. However, he had not yet comprehended its True Intent.
"Dragon-locking Claw!" A claw lanced out toward Lin Yun. In response, Lin Yun unleashed his Black Steel Tyrant Fist, and the two instantly erupted into battle.
Lin Yun took on the Monk, while the Black-striped Tiger roared and charged toward the Daoist. Seeing the tiger attack, the Daoist chose not to meet it head-on. He was no match for a Tier Three Demon Beast on his own; only after the Monk dealt with Lin Yun could the two of them team up with any hope of subduing the tiger.
’I originally thought I could finish him in two or three moves,’ the Monk mused, ’but a dozen exchanges have passed, and he’s still fighting me to a standstill.’
’I underestimated this kid,’ the Monk thought. He never expected Lin Yun’s Combat Power to be this formidable; to have such strength while only at the Third Layer of Qi Sea Realm was astonishing.
But the Monk wasn’t the only one who was surprised; Lin Yun was just as shocked. ’This Monk is at the Sixth Level of Qi Sea Realm, and his Combat Power is on par with the likes of Chang Qing and Kang Lai. In other words, he has the strength of one of the top ten geniuses on the Yanhuang List!’
"Dragon-locking Claw!" Executing Inch Step, the Monk instantly appeared at Lin Yun’s side, his claw shooting out to lock onto Lin Yun’s right arm.
Under pressure, Lin Yun also executed Inch Step. Having comprehended its True Intent, his movement was significantly faster than the Monk’s, and he dodged the attack in the blink of an eye.
"Inch Step...!" The Monk cried out in astonishment, realizing Lin Yun was using the same Step Technique as him.
A moment later, however, the Monk’s expression turned savage. He had guessed Lin Yun’s identity. Gone was his formerly kind and benevolent demeanor, replaced by a ferocious scowl. "You’re Lin Yun, aren’t you?!" he roared.
Hearing the Monk’s roar, the Daoist quickly joined him, casting a puzzled look at Lin Yun. Thanks to the Disguise Technique, Lin Yun’s appearance was a far cry from his real one; the Daoist couldn’t recognize him at all.
"He’s using some Cultivation Technique that changes his appearance and aura, but that Inch Step doesn’t lie! You have to be Lin Yun!" the Monk snarled.
At these words, the Daoist instantly understood. Their master had personally taught them their Body Technique Martial Skill; there was no way it could have been leaked to an outsider. The only exception... was Lin Yun.
"Lin Yun, you devil! You even steal from men of the cloth! That time in the Capital City, that was you too, right? It was you who stole my valuables!" the Daoist roared.
At Lin Yun’s hands, the Monk and Daoist had suffered one setback after another. The valuables he had stolen from them were worth at least several hundred thousand Low Grade Primordial Stones. But what truly infuriated them...
...was that time in the Mysterious City, when Lin Yun had completely and utterly ruined them. The Monk and Daoist who had escaped the Mysterious City had been a truly pathetic sight.
Their Forbidden Artifacts were gone, their valuables were gone. When they had escaped from the Mysterious City, they were no different from beggars.
Now that they recognized him, the Monk and Daoist made no effort to hide their killing intent. Seeing the fire in their eyes, Lin Yun gave a wry, helpless smile. ’A miscalculation,’ he thought. ’I used Inch Step out of pure instinct.’
Since they had recognized him, killing intent sparked in Lin Yun’s own heart. ’I can’t let these two leave here alive. Given their personalities, they’ll definitely reveal my location if they get away.’
"Since you already know who I am, there’s no point in hiding. As it happens, you’re a Demon Monk and an Evil Daoist, so today, I, Lin Yun, will just have to eliminate you on behalf of the Buddha Celestial Venerable."
They were on an official road, which was no place for killing; it would soon attract soldiers from the Yanhuang Country. With a cold laugh, Lin Yun bolted toward the nearby woods.
"Lin Yun, where do you think you’re going!"
"Today, I’ll send you to see the Celestial Venerable!" the Daoist shouted. Seeing Lin Yun turn and flee, the Monk and Daoist immediately gave chase.
The chase continued for dozens of miles until finally, Lin Yun stopped deep within the forest.
"Lin Yun, today I will personally send you to the next life!" The Monk had just caught up, and without another word, he thrust his claw at Lin Yun.
"Black-striped Tiger, you take care of the Daoist," Lin Yun commanded, before clashing with the Monk.
With his identity exposed, Lin Yun no longer held back. The Space Ring on his finger flashed, and the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear appeared in his hand. The moment it materialized, a dense, domineering aura radiated from the spear, powerful enough to shake one’s very soul.
However, the Monk’s attention wasn’t on the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear. Instead, his gaze was fixed on the Space Ring on Lin Yun’s hand. With a single glance, he knew it was the very ring Lin Yun had stolen from him.
Seeing his own property on Lin Yun’s hand, the rage in the Monk’s heart surged to a breaking point. With eyes burning with fury, the new Space Ring on his own hand flashed, and a pitch-black long staff appeared in his grasp.
Don’t be fooled by the fact that the Monk still had a Space Ring; this was already his third one. The previous two had been stolen by Lin Yun, and this current one had been robbed from a rich family’s son just a couple of days prior.
"Not bad," Lin Yun taunted with a wicked grin. "You really are something, you bald donkey. Snagging yourself another Space Ring in such a short time."
"This is all your fault! How can this inferior piece of junk compare to my original Space Ring?" The topic alone was enough to make the Monk’s stomach churn with rage.
With a weapon in hand, the Monk’s body erupted in a brilliant Golden Light. A solemn, pure aura radiated from him, making him look for all the world like a great and powerful monk subduing demons.
"Demon Suppression Stick Technique!" the Monk roared, raising his staff and charging at Lin Yun.
"Hmph. Just a Demon Monk," Lin Yun snorted, executing his Red Flame Spear Technique and meeting the charge.
Spear and staff collided. The resulting shockwave instantly razed several hundred square meters of the surrounding forest to the ground, uprooting every tree in the vicinity.
The first blow ended in a draw, and the two were locked in a fierce battle. On the other side, the Daoist was fighting the Black-striped Tiger, a Duster in his hand as his body radiated a pure, silver light.
Compared to the Monk, however, the Daoist’s situation was far worse. A Tier Three Demon Beast was no easy opponent. From the moment the fight began, he was completely overwhelmed by the Black-striped Tiger. At this rate, he wouldn’t be able to hold on for much longer.
