Chapter 258: Black Shop
Lin Yun followed the young woman to the third floor, where he met the Alchemist of the Spirit Pill Shop in one of the rooms.
It was a hefty, coarse-looking man. To call him an Alchemist was an overstatement; it was likely a self-proclaimed title. At best, he just had a deeper understanding of Spirit Grass and Spirit Fruit.
He could tell real Spirit Grass and Spirit Fruit from fakes, knew their prices, and was skilled at using the fewest Primordial Stones to buy the greatest quantity.
"Master He, this gentleman wishes to sell some Spirit Grass and Spirit Fruit," the young woman said to the middle-aged man sitting on the chair.
With a dismissive wave of his hand, Master He said, "I understand. You may leave."
At his words, the young woman exited the room. Master He looked at Lin Yun and gestured for him to sit. After Lin Yun was seated, Master He spoke up, "Go ahead and take out the Spirit Grass and Spirit Fruit you wish to sell."
With a flash of his Space Ring, Lin Yun placed stalk after stalk of Spirit Grass on the table between them. Watching the endless stream of Spirit Grass appear, Master He’s eyes instantly lit up.
They were all Earth Level Five-Stars Spirit Grasses! And there were even ten stalks of Earth Level Six-Stars Spirit Grass.
In total, Lin Yun took out fifty stalks of Earth Level Five-Stars Spirit Grass and ten stalks of Earth Level Six-Stars Spirit Grass before stopping. This was more than enough. By Lin Yun’s estimate, this haul was worth at least one million Low Grade Primordial Stones.
Lin Yun didn’t take out any Earth Level Seven-Stars Spirit Grass. After all, Spirit Grass of that level was far too precious. It was better to keep it and refine it into an Elixir later than to sell it.
Master He carefully inspected each stalk, nodding continuously. It was clear he was extremely satisfied with the Spirit Grass Lin Yun had presented.
In a place like Wind Forest City, someone who could produce so much Spirit Grass at once was considered a huge client. A deal worth one million Low Grade Primordial Stones—this was the first time Master He had ever handled such a massive transaction.
After authenticating all the Spirit Grass, an irrepressible excitement shone in Master He’s eyes, and his tone when speaking to Lin Yun took on a fawning quality.
"Young Master, are you sure you want to sell all of this Spirit Grass?" Master He asked.
"Why? Does your shop not have that many Primordial Stones?" Lin Yun replied.
"That’s not it. It’s just that the sum is too large. I must consult the Shopkeeper."
Hearing this, Lin Yun nodded. It was only natural that Master He couldn’t make the final decision on such a large transaction.
Calling the young woman back in, Master He instructed her to entertain Lin Yun well. He then gathered up Lin Yun’s Spirit Grass and hurriedly left the room.
Seeing how respectfully Master He treated Lin Yun, and remembering the sheer amount of Spirit Grass on the table, the young woman knew Lin Yun had to be a major client.
So rich, and so young. The young woman started to get some ideas, her eyes practically shooting sparks as she looked at Lin Yun.
However, Lin Yun seemed completely oblivious to her hints. He sat in the chair with a slightly lazy posture, his eyes lightly closed as he waited for Master He.
Meanwhile, Master He hurried to a room in the deepest part of the third floor. He knocked, and only after hearing a response from within did he respectfully open the door and enter.
Inside the room, a young man dressed in the uniform of a Wind Forest Sect disciple was sitting on a chair. Cradled in his lap was a young woman; a single glance at the two of them made it obvious what they had just been doing.
Utterly unfazed by Master He’s presence, the young man and woman continued to canoodle off to the side.
"What is it?" the young man asked Master He, sounding impatient.
"Someone is here to sell Spirit Grass."
"Selling Spirit Grass? Why are you telling me about it? Can’t you just lowball the price?" the young man replied, a hint of anger in his voice. He couldn’t believe Master He was bothering him with such a trivial matter.
"But... but he’s selling fifty stalks of Earth Level Five-Stars Spirit Grass and ten stalks of Earth Level Six-Stars Spirit Grass! The amount is too great, which is why this humble one came to report to you."
Hearing Master He’s words, the young man finally stopped what he was doing. He gently patted the young woman, signaling for her to move aside.
At last, the young man looked at Master He. He straightened his clothes and sat up properly. This was a familiar face—an acquaintance of Lin Yun.
The young man was none other than Lang Dan, the sixth-ranked genius on the Wind Forest List, the very same Lang Dan who had nearly been killed by Lin Yun outside the Mysterious Forest. Who would have thought he was the Shopkeeper of this Elixir Shop?
In truth, no one knew that the Spirit Pill Shop was established by the Grand Elder’s faction. Lang Dan was just here to amuse himself for a while; in three days, he was due to leave for Celestial Eagle Valley.
"Do you know who he is?" With such a large sum involved, malicious intent had already sprouted in Lang Dan’s heart.
"I don’t know, but his Cultivation is only at the Sixth Level of Qi Sea Realm, and he can’t be more than twenty-five years old," Master He replied.
’So much Spirit Grass at such a young age... Could he be from some major power?’ Lang Dan wondered.
But a moment later, Lang Dan dismissed the idea. ’If he were a disciple from a major power, why would he be here selling Spirit Grass and Spirit Fruit?’
’He must have gotten some kind of freak luck and stumbled upon all this Spirit Grass and Spirit Fruit by chance,’ Lang Dan surmised.
At this thought, a cold glint appeared in Lang Dan’s eyes as he looked at Master He. His voice turned icy as he ordered, "Lock down the entire third floor. Kill him."
These words proved that Lang Dan intended to commit robbery and murder. In his mind, Lin Yun was just some kid at the Sixth Level of Qi Sea Realm. Killing him was no big deal, and he would gain a huge amount of Spirit Grass for free.
With a cold laugh, the entire third floor was soon sealed off by the Elixir Shop’s guards. Lang Dan and Master He had also arrived at the door of the room where Lin Yun was waiting.
Lin Yun, who had been resting with his eyes closed, suddenly felt something was wrong. A faint, almost imperceptible killing intent was wafting in from outside the room.
Lang Dan had no idea that Lin Yun’s perception was extremely sharp, especially when it came to danger. Before they had even made a move, Lin Yun had already sensed their intentions.
’Trying to rob and murder me?’ Lin Yun sneered inwardly.
"Go hide in the corner," he said to the young woman beside him.
Hearing this, the young woman looked at Lin Yun in confusion. Why was he suddenly telling her to hide?
Seeing her hesitation, Lin Yun couldn’t be bothered to explain. He said directly, "Go now if you don’t want to die."
Just as Lin Yun’s words fell, the door to the room was suddenly blasted to pieces by a wave of Elemental Power. In an instant, five or six of the Elixir Shop’s guards rushed in.
These guards were all at the Mid-Stage of the Qi Sea Realm.
The guards who stormed in immediately surrounded Lin Yun, each one holding a weapon.
Faced with the encirclement, Lin Yun showed no signs of tension. He remained seated in his chair, looking slightly lazy. He knew these guys were just ants; the main act had yet to arrive.
As expected, after the guards rushed in, two people walked through the doorway. One was, of course, Master He. The other was none other than Lang Dan.
The moment he saw Lang Dan, a wicked smile curled onto Lin Yun’s face. ’Enemies truly are destined to meet on a narrow road.’ He hadn’t managed to kill him back in the Mysterious Forest, and now he had delivered himself right to Lin Yun’s doorstep.
