Divine War Pill Emperor
Chapter 154: He Really Rolled
Jiang Chen pondered for a moment. The last question had to be one that would stump Yuan Sheng.
He thought for a long while before finally speaking.
"Yuan Sheng, why don’t you tell everyone what materials are needed to refine a Catalyst Pill?"
This question was, in fact, quite difficult.
The Catalyst Pill was a Second-Grade Elixir, and a rather obscure one at that.
Jiang Chen knew that Yuan Sheng, a mere First-Grade Alchemist, would have absolutely no way of answering.
However, as an Alchemist, one was expected to have prior knowledge of Elixirs of all grades.
Otherwise, they couldn’t be considered a qualified Alchemist.
Jiang Chen knew that someone present would definitely know the answer to this question.
Including Master Qin.
Sure enough, Master Qin looked at Jiang Chen again, his expression changed.
Because he did, in fact, know the materials required to refine a Catalyst Pill.
He even knew at least three different methods for refining it.
And yet, Jiang Chen actually knew of a Second-Grade Elixir like the Catalyst Pill.
This undoubtedly suggested that Jiang Chen might have the abilities of a Second-Grade Alchemist.
Thus, Master Qin was truly starting to see Jiang Chen in a new light.
’This kid really has some skills. But with that powerful master of his, I suppose it’s not surprising.’
Xiao Gu raised his head at that moment, his eyes gleaming.
He knew the materials for refining the Catalyst Pill.
But at this moment, Yuan Sheng was, once again, completely dumbfounded.
He just stood there, stunned, like an idiot.
He actually didn’t know the answer. Again.
Right now, Yuan Sheng wasn’t just representing himself, but a dozen or so others.
"This..."
His mouth opened and closed dryly.
In the end, he had no idea how to answer.
Once again, he shot a pleading look at his companions, but they seemed even more clueless than he was.
Finally, his gaze fell upon his master, Xiao Gu.
Xiao Gu opened his mouth, trying to mouth the answer to his disciple.
But the shape of Xiao Gu’s mouth was too difficult to read, and Yuan Sheng couldn’t understand.
His eyes darted around, but he could only stare blankly.
Seeing this comical scene, Jiang Chen’s expression turned cold. "Xiao Gu," he said coolly, "since your disciple doesn’t know, why don’t you step up and announce the answer?"
"If the disciple fails, the master must step in."
He was quite displeased. After all, he was questioning Yuan Sheng, not Xiao Gu.
For Xiao Gu to act this way was clearly inappropriate.
In that instant, Xiao Gu’s face turned livid.
In the end, he simply shut his mouth.
’I already mouthed the answer for him. Can I be blamed if my disciple couldn’t understand?’
The key thing was, if he spoke up, it would mean his disciple had lost to Jiang Chen.
But even if he remained silent, Yuan Sheng had already lost today.
He had lost completely.
"Alright, Yuan Sheng. I see you know absolutely nothing."
"And you wanted to compete with me in Alchemy Skill?"
"The lot of you are a complete joke."
"You aren’t even worthy of competing with me."
Yuan Sheng’s face was pale, and his whole body trembled.
He bit his lip hard. Publicly slapped in the face by Jiang Chen like this, he found himself unable to retort.
He was like a duck with its neck being squeezed.
The few who were with him were all dumbfounded.
The representative they had pushed forward, Yuan Sheng, truly knew nothing. Three questions, and he’d drawn a blank on all of them.
He had disappointed everyone so much they felt like cursing him to death.
The atmosphere became extremely strange.
Because, before the questioning began, Jiang Chen and Yuan Sheng’s group had agreed to a condition.
Thinking about that condition now, it was enough to make one’s head spin.
"Ahem..."
Jiang Chen let out a few deliberate, loud coughs.
He looked at Yuan Sheng and his group with a smirk. "Yuan Sheng, we seemed to have a deal before. If you answered my questions, I would roll from here all the way out the main gate of the Alchemy Master Guild hall."
"But if you couldn’t answer... well, I don’t need to spell it out, do I? With so many people watching, why don’t you all start your performance? What do you say?"
He found it rather amusing. After all, they were the ones who had proposed the condition.
Now, it was being turned right back on them.
Yuan Sheng and the others looked around helplessly, their eyes pleading for help from those around them.
But at this moment, everyone else seemed to be settling in to watch the show.
No one sympathized with them.
What’s more, someone even shouted out, "Are you going to honor your word or not? Don’t let your words be like farts!"
"Some people, once they propose a condition, shouldn’t try to back out of it."
"The Alchemy Master Guild is a place that values integrity!"
Someone else jeered, "Yeah, Yuan Sheng! Start your performance! We’re all watching!"
The faces of Yuan Sheng and his group shifted from green to white.
They were as unpredictable as the weather.
Forget the humiliation of having to roll all that way.
The real issue was that they would eat their fill of dust from the ground.
None of them were willing to roll.
But Jiang Chen had no intention of letting Yuan Sheng and his group off the hook.
Before, they had used every trick in the book to force him to show up.
Now, it was his time to strike back.
If he didn’t teach these people a harsh lesson, they would never learn.
He said coolly, "Yuan Sheng, your master is watching you. Can’t you get things started? Just make the first move?"
"A man must not go back on his word."
Jiang Chen kept dragging Xiao Gu into it, slapping him in the face again and again.
It made him so angry his face seemed to emit black smoke.
’Dammit, I’m not the one who made that deal with you!’
He felt utterly disgraced, unable to show his old face any longer.
And yet his disciple Yuan Sheng and the others were still looking to him for help.
Xiao Gu let out a heavy snort.
He bellowed, "You bastards! You lost, so you lost! Don’t you have the guts to admit it?"
"You took a shit, now you have to lick it clean!"
This sentence was like another critical blow landing right on the heads of Yuan Sheng and his group.
Who curses their own disciple like that?
Even if his disciple had truly brought him shame.
Yuan Sheng completely broke down.
His own master was actually telling him to roll.
He was filled with so much regret he could die. Why had he proposed such a malicious condition in the first place?
’It’s a pit I dug for myself, so I have to grit my teeth and jump in.’
Besides, his master was glaring at him viciously.
Finally, he grit his teeth hard.
’Screw it! I’ve already lost all my face anyway.’
He wiped a hand over his face, as if physically casting his shame aside.
Humiliation it is, then.
He lay down on the ground and, in front of everyone, began rolling and tumbling across the ground.
He rolled extremely fast, as if afraid of being mocked for going too slow.
It was like he was rushing to be reincarnated.
In an instant, he had rolled a good distance, his body covered in dust.
When the others saw Yuan Sheng start to roll, they were on the verge of tears.
This was basically forcing them to roll too.
"THUD!"
"THUD!"
...
Suddenly, a dozen or so people all lay down on the ground, covered their faces, and began rolling toward the main gate.
The scene of more than ten people rolling on the ground was quite a spectacle.
The crowd of onlookers erupted.
"Haha! This is hilarious!"
"This is an unbelievable sight!"
Yuan Sheng was even rolling so fast that he went in the wrong direction and had to hastily correct his course and roll back.
The dozen or so people rolled and tumbled toward the gate, and in no time, they had all reached the entrance.
Every single one of them had turned into a dirt-man.
It made many people roar with laughter, unable to close their mouths.
Even Master Qin, for some reason, felt the corner of his mouth twitch, looking as if he was trying to suppress a smile.
Only Xiao Gu’s face was as black as thunder!
