Divine War Pill Emperor
Chapter 53: What Did I Do Wrong?
Dawn was just breaking.
A slender figure moved within the courtyard, her lotus-like arms extending gracefully.
Her elegant form was like that of a celestial maiden.
As her body danced, illusory flowers seemed to flicker in and out of existence around her.
These flowers shifted and transformed along with her slender figure.
Until at a certain moment...
"Hah!"
Her delicate body came to a halt, revealing a young maiden.
She was as beautiful as a flower, especially after having taken care with her appearance.
The maiden was none other than Yiyi.
At this moment, Yiyi let out a long breath.
Her breath was as fragrant as an orchid.
Her lively eyes blinked, her long lashes fluttering up and down.
A happy smile appeared on her exquisite face.
After checking her Cultivation, Yiyi was overjoyed.
She murmured to herself, ’Young Master taught me Celestial Maiden Scattering Flowers, and it’s truly miraculous. After I started my Cultivation, my Cultivation level has advanced by leaps and bounds. I’m now at the Martial Artist Third Heaven.’
That’s right. Jiang Chen had taught her Celestial Maiden Scattering Flowers, and Yiyi practiced diligently every day, progressing at an astonishing speed.
Then, Yiyi gave a sweet smile.
’I belong to the Young Master anyway. It would be wonderful if I could always be by his side.’
BANG BANG BANG!
Just then, a series of knocks came from the door.
Yiyi was startled. Someone was here so early.
She glanced at her young master’s room and saw no sign of movement. He was clearly still asleep.
So, she walked over to open the door.
CREAK!
The moment she opened the door, she was completely stunned.
A huge crowd of people from the Jiang Family stood outside the courtyard.
There were at least a hundred of them.
Yiyi’s heart skipped a beat in fright.
Especially since the Patriarch, Jiang Han, was also there.
They had come last night, and now they were back again first thing in the morning. It was very strange.
Despite this, Yiyi quickly composed herself.
She bowed to the crowd.
Looking at Jiang Han, she said, "Patriarch, you’re all here so early."
Jiang Han nodded.
He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. His son, Jiang Chen, had told them to come and get the Elixirs this morning.
As a result, many of the clan members had shown up at the crack of dawn, almost as if they had all conspired together.
This surprised him as well.
He looked at Yiyi.
And asked, "Is Jiang Chen here?"
At this moment, everyone’s eyes were on Yiyi.
They all remembered what Jiang Chen had said. The Jiang Family had no other options, and Jiang Chen had made a bold claim. Although they were all skeptical and disbelieving, they still held a sliver of hope, and had all shown up, as if by unspoken agreement, to see if Jiang Chen had really refined the Elixirs.
If Jiang Chen was lying this time, no one would ever believe him again.
Yiyi, of course, knew none of this. She glanced at Jiang Chen’s room again, wanting to cry but having no tears.
"Patriarch, the Young Master is here."
"But... he’s still sleeping right now."
What?
Still sleeping?
Many of them felt their spirits instantly shatter.
Everyone was losing their minds over the family’s Elixir situation, and this guy was still sleeping in.
How could he possibly be asleep?
Everyone was disappointed.
Apparently, Jiang Chen had likely been sound asleep since last night. Everyone showing up to check was clearly wishful thinking. Jiang Chen didn’t know Alchemy at all.
One of the more outspoken clan members spoke up directly.
"Patriarch, forget it. Let’s just let Jiang Chen get his sleep."
"Yeah, I think we should just leave him be and not disturb his rest. Let’s all go back."
Although their words sounded polite, everyone could hear the underlying anger in their voices.
They’d had their feelings toyed with by this young master yet again.
Another clan member said, "Patriarch, we should think of another way. Let’s not pin our hopes on someone who’s just sleeping."
"I agree. We all know what Young Master Jiang Chen is capable of. We should have known from the start he was just joking about this."
Disappointed, some of the clan members shook their heads and prepared to leave.
Jiang Han gave a bitter smile. It was true. He, too, had held out a sliver of hope for his son, but now he saw the boy was still asleep.
He’d been duped by his own son.
He sighed to himself.
But Yiyi could see something was wrong. It was as if her young master had committed some heinous crime.
She hurriedly said, "Patriarch, why don’t I go wake the Young Master? It would be best to ask him about this face-to-face."
Jiang Han hadn’t wanted to press the issue further.
But a clan member couldn’t help but speak out.
"Fine. Go get Jiang Chen out here."
"I’ve been here since midnight, waiting all this time! He said he would perform Alchemy for the family, so how come there hasn’t been the slightest peep?"
"I agree. This time, we must make Jiang Chen apologize to everyone. Otherwise, who knows how many more outrageous things he’ll do in the future."
"Go wake Jiang Chen up!"
There were still quite a few people who were displeased with Jiang Chen.
Tricking everyone into coming here just to watch him sleep? That little brat.
Seeing this, Yiyi, who didn’t know the full story, could only vaguely make out that it was about some Elixirs.
She immediately ran inside.
She went to Jiang Chen’s door and knocked.
"Young Master, are you awake?"
There was no response from inside.
But Yiyi knew she had to wake her young master now.
So she knocked again, louder this time. "Young Master, the Patriarch and the clan members are all waiting outside! They say they have business with you."
She had no choice but to get Jiang Chen up.
After all, the Patriarch himself was outside.
Jiang Chen, who had been sleeping, was woken by Yiyi and was extremely annoyed.
"What’s with all the noise? Are you going to let a man sleep or not?"
Jiang Chen was incredibly frustrated.
He hadn’t been asleep for long before Yiyi woke him.
But when he heard his father was waiting for him in the courtyard, he rubbed his eyes and slowly got out of bed.
He muttered discontentedly under his breath.
Then, wearing thin sleepclothes, he walked out and opened the door, rubbing his bleary eyes.
"So noisy."
Jiang Chen complained to Yiyi.
Yiyi stuck her tongue out playfully.
"Young Master, the Patriarch is outside. I had no choice but to wake you."
Walking to the doorway, Jiang Chen saw the huge, dark mass of clan members, including his father.
He leaned against the doorframe, his eyes half-closed.
He asked, "Dad, what’s going on? I want to go back to sleep."
He sighed in resignation, his pleasant dream having been disturbed.
Seeing Jiang Chen looking so soundly asleep, many of the clan members seethed with frustration.
Someone immediately shouted, "Young Master Jiang Chen, didn’t you say yesterday that we should come here this morning to get the Elixirs?"
"That’s right! Where are the Elixirs you mentioned?"
"Hurry up and bring them out for everyone to see!"
Jiang Chen’s eyes opened a little wider.
He said irritably, "You’re bothering my sleep over such a trivial matter? Really."
His resentment ran deep.
Unexpectedly, the clan members nearly fainted from anger.
The family’s financial pillar was on the verge of collapse, yet this guy called it a "trivial matter." In his eyes, the very survival of the Jiang Family was a trivial matter.
Everyone wanted to vomit blood.
This rotten scoundrel could infuriate a man to death and get away with it.
Even Jiang Han was speechless.
Assuming Jiang Chen couldn’t produce the Elixirs, he waved his hand and said, "Son, it’s not my place to criticize you, but you shouldn’t joke about the entire family’s fate when you have nothing better to do."
"Now, apologize to your uncles and elders, then you can go back to sleep."
"What?"
"Apologize?"
Jiang Chen’s eyes flew wide open. ’What’s going on? I have to apologize?’
He pressed, "Dad, why should I apologize?"
"What did I do wrong?"
