Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me - Chapter 187: Denial
After getting her change from the florist, Mika Summers left the shop. Out on the street, people stared at her strangely. She glanced at the flowers in her arms, her smile growing increasingly bitter. ’I must have been a fool to buy this bouquet.’
Tristan Grayson leaned back in his car seat, his brows furrowed as he watched the woman. He saw her frail figure wandering aimlessly down the road, and his hands on the steering wheel tightened instinctively. ’In this cold, she’s only wearing that?’
He wouldn’t care if she wanted to freeze to death, but if she endangered his child, he couldn’t just let it happen.
At that thought, Tristan Grayson started the car, followed her, and slammed his hand on the horn.
Mika Summers was walking along peacefully when the piercing blare of a car horn from behind startled her. She clutched her chest, looking back nervously. When she saw the car not far away, she froze completely...
She frantically turned away, hiding her face with the bouquet so Tristan Grayson wouldn’t see her.
Tristan Grayson’s anger flared at the sight. "Get in the car!"
Hearing Tristan Grayson’s words, her already grim expression soured further. ’Why should I be afraid of Tristan Grayson? There’s no reason to be. Besides, we already agreed to make a clean break!’
’So, I can’t be afraid. I’ll just pretend he’s a stranger. That he’s just air...’
’Right. He’s just air... just air...’
After a moment of self-reassurance, Mika Summers’s expression finally eased. Clutching the bouquet, she continued walking forward.
Furious at being ignored, Tristan Grayson slammed his fist on the steering wheel. "Damn it! This woman! She’s absolutely infuriating!" Spitting out the words, he stopped the car, threw open the door, and strode toward Mika Summers.
Mika Summers heard a car door slam behind her and her heart filled with unease. Her pace quickened. Seeing an approaching taxi, she broke into a short run and hailed it.
The taxi stopped beside Mika Summers. Just as she hurriedly opened the door to get in, she was suddenly swept off her feet. A man’s low, displeased voice sounded in her ear, "And where do you think you’re going!"
"Ah! Put me down!" At the sound of his voice, Mika Summers’s heart lurched, and in her shock, she dropped the flowers onto the ground.
Watching the scene unfold, the taxi driver honked impatiently. "So are you two getting in or not?"
"We’re not taking it, sir. My wife and I had an argument, that’s why she hailed you. Sorry about that." For once, Tristan Grayson didn’t lose his temper at the driver’s words, but instead explained with great patience.
"Should’ve said so sooner. What a waste of time." The driver grumbled, turned the wheel, and drove away.
Mika Summers felt like crying as she watched the taxi drive away. "Tristan Grayson, are you insane?!"
"That’s right, I’m insane. And that’s why you’re coming to the hospital with me." Still holding her, Tristan Grayson started walking toward his parked car.
’Rather than wait for Henry Archer to finish his investigation, it would be faster to just take her to the hospital and confirm it myself...’
The moment she heard "hospital," Mika Summers’s heart trembled. Her voice was laced with panic. "Why should I go to the hospital with you? Put me down!"
"I can put you down. Just tell me, did Aiden Avery give you a fake certificate?!"
’A fake certificate?’ Mika Summers’s eyes shot wide open. She rushed to deny it. "I don’t know what you’re talking about! Now put me down." ’How could this be? He seemed to believe me last night...’
