Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 308: Love with Nowhere to Go (8)
「Eight o’clock at night. Empyrean Hotel.」
Mika Summers parked her car, and just as she was about to open the door, the phone in her handbag started ringing.
Her delicate brows furrowed. She unzipped her bag, took out her phone, and glanced at the screen. When she saw the call was from Silas Kent, her expression turned cold as she swiped to hang up.
But less than two seconds later, it rang again. She answered impatiently, "Silas Kent, what on earth do you want?"
"I’m just worried about you. It’s so late, and you didn’t even bring anyone with you."
"I’m here for a work meeting. What is there to be worried about?"
"Then you have to promise me you’ll come straight home after the meeting." Since returning to the country, Silas Kent had been constantly worried about her, to the point where he wished he could just tuck her into his pocket to keep her safe.
"Mm," Mika Summers replied coldly, opening the car door and getting out with her bag.
"If anything happens, you have to call me right away."
"Alright, I know."
Hearing the impatience in Mika’s tone, Silas Kent called out her name, a hint of disappointment in his voice, "Mika."
"Yes?"
"I’ll be waiting for you to come home!"
"I know, don’t worry." At his words, Mika’s tone softened slightly. She hung up the phone, her eyes filled with a complicated mix of emotions.
She knew Silas Kent was good to her. She also knew what he was uneasy about, what he was worried about.
’But I don’t want to rely on him. If I rely on him, how am I any different from the person I was two years ago?’
’Now, I have to rely on my own strength to get everything I want.’
Upon entering the Empyrean Hotel, a waitress immediately approached her. Learning that she was there to see Miss Jordan, the waitress led her directly to a private room on the second floor.
Just as the waitress pushed open the door and invited Mika to enter, a familiar male voice drifted from inside, and Mika’s heart instantly leaped into her throat. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Mika grabbed her bag, turned around, and fled.
"Miss, aren’t you going in? Hey, miss, aren’t you here to see Miss Jordan?" the waitress called out, utterly confused, as she watched Mika turn and rush toward the stairwell.
Inside the room, the conversation stopped. The man stood up and glanced at Louise Jordan. Louise nodded, walked quickly to the door, and asked in a cold voice, "What’s going on?"
"Oh, a young lady just came by, said she was looking for you. But when I brought her here, she suddenly ran off."
Hearing the waitress’s explanation, Louise Jordan’s brow tightened. She turned back, looking at Archie Lockwood with the same confusion. "Boss."
Archie Lockwood’s gaze deepened. He nodded and said sternly, "Call their representative and ask when she’s going to arrive. If she can’t be here within half an hour, I’d say this partnership is off."
"Yes, sir."
Mika ran all the way downstairs. Even she found it strange. ’Why did I run? But when I heard my brother’s voice, my first instinct was to get away immediately.’
It wasn’t until she reached the ground floor and calmed down that she was filled with regret. ’The person who runs away from her problems was the old Mika Summers. That’s definitely not how the new Mika Summers should act.’
At that thought, Mika’s gaze grew more determined. Just then, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she swiped to answer and spoke before the other person could say a word, "I’m on my way up."
After hanging up, she put her phone away and headed back toward the second floor.
Just as Mika disappeared up the stairwell to the second floor, a man walked in through the hotel entrance.
