Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 312: A Love with Nowhere to Go (Part 12)
"Mika Summers, marry me." Seeing her smile, the tenderness in Silas Kent’s eyes deepened. He spoke with a grave seriousness.
Mika Summers’s expression darkened, and she cut him off coldly. "Silas Kent, stop joking. If you keep this up, I’m going to get angry."
"Mika Summers, you know I’m not joking."
"Silas Kent, I’m a woman who’s been married and had a child. I’m not good enough for you. You deserve someone better."
"That’s a stale excuse, Mika Summers. In my eyes, there’s no one in this world more perfect for me than you."
"Heh. Silas Kent, are you mocking me or complimenting me?"
"Mika Summers..."
"That’s enough. Don’t say another word," Mika Summers snapped when Silas Kent opened his mouth to speak again.
Silas Kent fell silent, but his eyes never left Mika Summers’s face.
Mika Summers started the car, backed out of the parking space, and drove off.
Silas Kent looked away and sighed to himself. He turned to face the window and rolled it down, a hint of sorrow in his eyes.
’I originally wanted to wait until things were settled between me and Mika before returning to the country. But she’s so stubborn; she just won’t listen to me.’
’Now that we’re back in the country, I can’t shake this feeling of unease. After all, I saw with my own eyes how much she loved that man back then, and just how much pain she was in.’
As Tristan Grayson walked out of the hotel, he saw a car drive past. He recognized Mika Summers in an instant, and when he saw the man in the passenger seat, his heart sank. He looked utterly desolate and helpless.
’It’s not Archie Lockwood... so who is it??’
’Who is he? Did she find someone new in just two years? Has she really forgotten me after only two years?’
’She looks like she’s doing so well now. She must be really happy, right?’
’Maybe... maybe leaving me really was the right choice...’
A desolate smile touched Tristan Grayson’s lips as he dragged his heavy limbs toward the parking lot.
「The next day.」
At 10:30 in the morning, Mika Summers called an emergency meeting and announced massive layoffs.
Instantly, panic swept through all of Sovereign Group.
Any employee who had been with the company for over a year without producing any results was fired. Any manager who hadn’t delivered results in the past six months was demoted and forced to start over from a junior position.
As far as she was concerned, there was no special treatment for senior employees or those with connections. Everyone had to prove their worth with results.
When the meeting ended, Mika Summers left the conference room with Jessica Archer.
The conference room immediately erupted.
"Ugh, who is this woman? The moment she takes office, she comes after everyone in the company."
"What background? She probably just slept her way here."
"Yeah, what’s she so arrogant for? She only got the president’s chair by climbing into our Mr. Kent’s bed."
"Hey, keep it down. She’s still close by."
"So what if she hears? If she had the nerve to do it, why can’t we talk about it?"
Listening to the chatter from the conference room, Mika Summers’s lips curled into a cold smile.
Seeing how unbothered Mika Summers looked, Jessica Archer said angrily, "President Summers, I’m going to go chew them out right now and dock their pay for a month."
Mika Summers turned with an amused smile, taking the reports from Jessica Archer’s arms. "Jessica, let them talk. Once this one-month observation period is up, anyone who can’t bring me results can get the hell out!"
"Yes."
Mika Summers flipped through a couple of pages of the reports, a smile playing on her lips. "LK Group... they’re shooting a fight scene tomorrow, aren’t they? Make the arrangements. I want to go oversee it in person."
