Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 339: A Love with Nowhere to Go (Part 39)
Gazing at the Jazz Dynasty Group building in the distance.
Eleanor Bishop’s hands clenched into tight fists. Today was the day her bank payment was due, which meant it was also the day she had to come to Jason Lockwood for her dose of humiliation.
From the moment she chose to betray Archie over two years ago, she was destined to be trampled into the dust by everyone.
But she had no choice. She was a daughter of the Bishop Family, and she shouldered their very fate.
’If I could do it all over again, I believe I’d still make the same choice.’ She couldn’t bear to watch the Bishop Family be destroyed and its members scattered.
She sat in the lobby, waiting for the receptionist to announce her.
Just then, the receptionist walked over, her tone laced with mockery. "The Baron says you can go up."
"Thank you." Eleanor was already used to the receptionist’s attitude.
’Still,’ she thought, ’just three or four years ago, when I first came here, a whole crowd of employees would be fawning all over me.’
Back then, she had been the Lockwood Family’s chosen daughter-in-law.
She gave a self-deprecating smile, took the elevator, and went to the 11th floor.
Jason Lockwood’s office was on the 11th floor.
Inside the office, Jason Lockwood had already finished his ’warm-up activities’ with Jasmine Warren. He had shut her away in the private lounge, gotten dressed, and was now sitting in his chair, waiting for Eleanor Bishop.
Jasmine Warren lifted the covers and peeked out. The phone call Jason Lockwood had just taken was replaying in her mind.
The look on Jason’s face made her extremely uneasy. ’Don’t tell me that plastic-surgery-man’s actual wife is here?!?!’
’Is she here to bust us?’
’Oh my god, just let a bolt of lightning strike me dead. This is my first time doing... *that*... with a guy, and I’m about to be caught in the act by his wife!!’
’My reputation is ruined forever.’
’How am I ever going to face anyone again, being branded as a homewrecker! Aaaah!’
Jason Lockwood sat in his chair, flipping through the document in his hands, but his mind was on the "fake woman" in the private lounge.
Every few moments, the corners of his mouth would curl into a slight smile. But as soon as he noticed his own strange reaction, he would deliberately put on a cold expression, pick up the document, and cough a few times to cover his embarrassment.
KNOCK KNOCK— A knock sounded at the office door.
Jason Lockwood’s brow furrowed. He lifted his cold eyes, his thin lips parting to say, "Come in."
Eleanor Bishop pushed the door open and walked in. She stopped in front of the desk and, after a moment’s hesitation, said coldly, "I’m here for the money."
Jason Lockwood narrowed his eyes at her. He opened a nearby drawer, took out a check, and placed it on the desk. "Here’s two hundred million. Don’t come back ever again."
"Two hundred million?" Eleanor was slightly taken aback. ’Every other time I’ve come, I’ve had to endure a storm of verbal abuse. Why is he being so cooperative today?’ she wondered.
"Too little?"
"..." Eleanor’s brow furrowed, but she remained silent.
’Two hundred million really isn’t enough...’
"Eleanor Bishop, you know that now that Archie Lockwood has returned to the Lockwood Family, I don’t have much cash to spare."
Eleanor knew what Jason said was true. But two hundred million would only solve her immediate crisis; it wouldn’t fix the underlying problem.
"Your Bishop Family is a real bottomless pit. The billions you conned out of Archie Lockwood weren’t enough, and over the past two years, you’ve taken at least another billion from me. Eleanor Bishop, why don’t you just name your price? I’ll pay you a lump sum, and then we’ll be even for good."
Instead of anger, Eleanor laughed. "Even?" ’Jason Lockwood is the one who drove me and the Bishop Family to this point, and now he wants us to be even?’
