"Why!" I screamed, sweeping my arm across the vanity table. Bottles, brushes, and mirrors crashed to the floor in a satisfying shatter. The news had spread like wildfire—Alina was coming back. I hated it. I hated her.

I paced the room, my wolf spiraling wildly inside me, clawing to get out. This couldn’t be happening. I had gone to the Moon Goddess’s shrine earlier, desperate for answers. What she told me still shook me to my core. Alina would take over this pack completely. I would be cast out like I never existed.

No. That would not be my fate.

I would destroy Alina before she ever got the chance to destroy me.

A sharp knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Come in," I said through gritted teeth.

Aiden stepped inside, looking battered and exhausted. Bruises covered his face, and he clutched his side. I clenched my fists tighter.

"You did all this," I spat. "You got yourself injured just to bring that woman back here?"

"Emily, please. Not now," he muttered, brushing past me. "I just want to rest."

"Why rest here then? Go to your room," I snapped.

"Alina is resting there until her room is ready," he replied flatly.

My blood boiled. "What do you mean you left your room for her?" My voice shook with rage, but he didn’t answer. He simply sank onto the bed.

I spun on my heel. I have to see her. I have to throw her out of this house right now.

"Don’t go anywhere, Emily," Aiden warned, his tone hard. "I’ve instructed the guards not to let anyone into that room. And you’re my wife. I’m injured—aren’t you supposed to take care of my wounds?"

Irritation burned through me. "I wasn’t the one who caused them, so why should I care?" I shot back. "Deal with it yourself."

I stormed out of the room and marched straight toward his quarters. My heart pounded with fury. Guards or no guards, I would see Alina.

"Luna, you can’t go in," one of the guards said, stepping forward to block the door.

"What the hell do you think you’re doing?" I growled, my voice rising. "Do you have any idea who I am?"

"It’s the Alpha’s orders," he replied firmly, eyes straight ahead.

"I am also your Luna!" I shouted, anger pouring out of every word. "What I say must be obeyed. Now step aside and let me in right now!"

"Why are you stopping her? Let her in," Alina’s voice called calmly from behind the door.

The guard immediately stepped aside. Rage boiled hotter inside me. They obeyed her so quickly, without question. The door swung open, and I stormed inside.

My eyes widened in shock. Alina sat at the vanity like she owned the place, looking flawless—full makeup, glowing skin, hair perfectly styled. She looked nothing like the broken woman who had left this house.

"Emily," she said sweetly, a smile playing on her lips. "Did you come here to welcome me back to the pack house?"

"How dare you come back here, you piece of garbage?" I spat. "You are so pathetic. Aiden is a married man and you’re still hovering around him like a desperate fool."

Alina burst out laughing, the sound light and mocking.

"So all these years you’ve been the pathetic one," she replied, still smiling. "Last time I checked, I was married to Aiden first. You were the one hovering over him. Why can’t I do the same now?"

"Alina!" I yelled, my voice echoing off the walls.

"Don’t you dare yell at me, Emily." Her tone sharpened. "You have no idea what I’m capable of."

Her eyes suddenly glowed with raw power. I stumbled back a step, heart hammering.

"Your eyes... they glowed. That can only mean one thing," I whispered, fear creeping into my voice.

"Yes," she said, flashing her fangs. "I am no longer a wolfless omega."

I took another step back, shock freezing me in place.

"Emily," she continued, her voice low and dangerous, "I warned you not to hurt my son Leo. I warned you to stay away from him. But you didn’t listen, did you?"

"I... I didn’t do anything," I stuttered. Her power pressed against me like a heavy weight. "I didn’t hurt him, okay?" I added, trying to sound strong.

"You’re lying, Emily." A smirk curved her lips.

"You’re playing with me," I shot back. "You know I didn’t do anything. And I don’t care if you have your wolf now. You won’t take over me. You staying here just means you’ve agreed to be his mistress."

Alina’s smile faded into something colder.

"You’ve got it all wrong," she said softly. "I’m staying here so I can destroy you. I will reduce you to nothing, Emily. I will cast you out, and everyone will forget you ever existed."

The Moon Goddess’s words crashed over me like ice water. My stomach twisted.

This couldn’t be happening.

The Moon Goddess’s warning echoed in my head like thunder: Alina will take over this pack for good... and you will be cast out like you never existed.

My hands trembled at my sides. No. This couldn’t be real. I refused to let it be real.

I forced a laugh, but it came out shaky and weak. "Destroy me?" I stepped forward even though my wolf whimpered inside me. "You? Look at you. You’re still the same weak girl who ran away. Having a wolf now doesn’t change anything. This is my house. My pack. My mate."

Alina rose slowly from the vanity chair. She moved with a confidence that sent chills down my spine. Her eyes still glowed faintly, and her presence filled the entire room.

"Your mate?" She tilted her head, that cold smirk returning. "He was never truly yours, Emily. And deep down, you know it. That’s why you’re so scared."

"I’m not scared of you!" I shouted, but my voice cracked.

Alina took one step closer. "Then why is your heart beating so fast? Why do you smell like fear right now?" She inhaled deeply, her smile widening. "You hurt my son, Emily. You touched what’s mine. For that alone, I will make sure you pay."

I wanted to slap that smirk off her face, but my feet stayed rooted. Her power pressed down on me, heavy and suffocating. My wolf wanted to submit. I hated it.
