Divorced Dad's Gourmet Shop
Chapter 114 - 113: Jiang Dahai’s Search for His Son (1)
Jiang Liu watched the customers at the door gulping hard.
’Let’s see,’ he thought.
He had originally planned to eat the leftover noodles himself for lunch and dinner.
But selling them now was fine too. He could always make more if he wanted some later.
The customers were more anxious than anyone.
"Boss Jiang, just sell us a little, please?"
"Come on, Boss! Don’t hold out on us. If you’ve got something good, just sell it! We’ll buy it, no questions asked!"
"That’s right! You can set whatever price you want."
"That smell is just heavenly."
The people at the front of the line started whining and grumbling.
The aroma of the shrimp noodles had already awakened their ravenous cravings,
Jiang Liu nodded. "Alright, then. There aren’t many noodles left, but I can portion out about ten bowls for you all in a bit."
"Yes, yes, yes!"
"Thanks, Brother Jiang! You’re a really good guy."
"I’ll be waiting! Can you hurry it up?"
A little past 6:50.
The two beauties clutched their stuffed bellies, reluctantly saying goodbye to Jiang Liu.
Tongtong furrowed her little eyebrows.
"Daddy, you have to miss me, you know? If I find out you don’t miss me, Tongtong is going to run away from home!"
Jun Qingmeng held Tongtong’s hand and waved at Jiang Liu.
"Boyfriend, see you tonight."
Jiang Liu smiled and waved back, telling Tongtong, "Okay, I got it. Hurry up and get to kindergarten now. Remember to walk on the side of the road."
Tongtong shouldered her backpack and sighed. "I’m going to be hungry at lunchtime again. Without Daddy’s food, Tongtong is so sad."
The poor little thing, she had it so rough.
Jun Qingmeng forced a smile. "Don’t worry, we’ll be back to eat up Daddy’s food tonight."
The two of them walked out the door.
Jiang Liu stood at the entrance to see them off.
They hadn’t taken more than a few steps.
As if they had planned it, they both turned around at the same time and made a little heart shape with their hands for Jiang Liu.
"Goodbye, Daddy! Love you forever!"
"See you tonight, Jiang Liu!"
The customers looked on with envy.
Jiang Liu chuckled. "Go on, go on. Be safe."
’Those two are becoming more and more alike,’ he thought.
From the line of customers, a bolder one shouted:
"Boss Jiang, when are you getting married and signing the papers? We should celebrate! We’ve already planned it all out for you. All you have to do is make ten thousand buns and a thousand plates of tuna every day for a month straight. We’ll definitely be here to support you!"
Jiang Liu shot him a look. "You again. I remember you were the one who mentioned a steamed bun banquet last time, weren’t you?"
"Haha, that was me."
The wage slave gave an awkward laugh, but he felt a sense of pride.
’Boss Jiang is talking to me!’
Some impatient customers started to hurry him along.
"Can you open up already? Stop chatting, Boss Jiang."
"It’s 6:56! Faster, faster! My principal is waiting for a taste of these buns."
An older lady asked expectantly, "Are the noodles ready yet?"
"Don’t rush me."
Jiang Liu flipped over the "Open" sign. "Everyone, please form a line. No crowding."
The customers grew excited.
The room was instantly packed to the brim.
"Boss, I want a bowl of your noodles, ten buns, and a glass of juice!"
"I’ll have an order of the tuna."
"Noodles to go, and fifteen buns! Quick, quick, I’m starving to death!"
In total, Jiang Liu portioned out eleven small bowls of shrimp noodles. The bowls weren’t large.
An adult would only be about half-full after eating one.
’I’ll price them at thirty yuan for now,’ he decided.
The office worker at Table 1 smelled the fragrant shrimp noodles on his table, and his stomach let out a series of traitorous growls.
He eagerly unwrapped his chopsticks.
Beside him, the boss from Central Real Estate was dying of envy and couldn’t help but speak up.
"Little brother, could you sell your noodles to me? I’ll pay you triple the price."
"Didn’t you order some too?" the office worker asked, puzzled.
"I want to take them home for my son to eat."
"Not for sale, not for sale. Don’t bother me while I’m eating."
The office worker refused, quickly picking up a few strands of the glistening noodles and slurping them into his mouth.
’These noodles are so springy!’
’Mmm! So fragrant! How can they be this fragrant?!’
The young office worker was stunned. It was his first time eating such authentic shrimp noodles.
With the addition of Little Cyan Dragon and river shrimp, the flavor had been elevated to its absolute peak.
One bite filled his mouth with an intense, rich shrimp flavor.
’It’s so savory and fresh!’
He stirred the noodles and discovered shredded pieces of tender, white, slightly translucent shrimp meat underneath.
"Whoa! Such big pieces of shrimp! Boss Jiang, you’re the real deal! For thirty yuan, this is so damn worth it! I’d even pay a hundred for this!"
The customers nearby who hadn’t managed to buy the shrimp noodles were practically dying of jealousy.
’Can you not talk while you eat? Are you afraid we aren’t suffering enough?’ they thought.
Soon, Jiang Liu had packed the rest of the shrimp noodles into bowls or takeout containers.
From the eighty-nine yuan he spent this morning, they not only got to eat some themselves but also earned a few hundred back.
’Sweet!’
As soon as the noodles were served, sounds of slurping and sighs of admiration echoed through the restaurant.
"Damn, this is fucking delicious! It’s a hundred times better than the ninety-eight-yuan seafood noodles I had last time. That crappy KFC can’t compare!"
"I can’t believe I get to eat authentic shrimp noodles right here in South City. My luck is incredible."
Huang Yunfeng, who was eating the shrimp noodles, smacked his lips regretfully. "Boss Jiang, will you have more of this tomorrow?"
"Nope, this was all of it," Jiang Liu replied while busy packing up tuna for a customer at the door.
"Alright, alright. I fell in love with these shrimp noodles from the very first bite. I wanted to bring some for my boss to try. With something this good, why don’t you sell more of it?"
Jiang Liu gave a wry smile. "I think it’s delicious too, but it takes too long to make. I’d have to stop making my other dishes."
"Fair enough. What a pity."
The customers who got to eat the shrimp noodles were dejected.
After having such fresh and fragrant shrimp noodles, they felt they would never want to eat any other kind of noodles again.
There was simply no comparison; it was like the difference between tree bark and a steamed bun.
Ten minutes.
The first round of steamed buns sold out.
As Jiang Liu went to get more buns, he caught a glimpse of the customers eating the shrimp noodles. They looked like absolute savages.
Never mind the shrimp and noodles—even the broth was drunk down to the last drop. Not a single sliver of green onion was spared.
One person was even using the skin of a steamed bun to vigorously wipe his bowl clean, a sight that made Jiang Liu’s eyelid twitch.
He himself didn’t even realize just how unbelievably good his own cooking was.
Soon.
7:45.
All the food was once again sold out.
The same thing happened at noon, except now there was a new crowd of customers clamoring for Jiang Liu to add new items to the menu.
The more they ate, the less satisfied they were with the current offerings.
The morning’s shrimp noodles, in particular, made them eagerly anticipate what even better dishes Jiang Liu might create for them.
「At four in the afternoon.」
Jiang Liu left his home with a load of ingredients and headed to the restaurant.
He stood at the door and had barely exchanged a few words with the customers before they were already urging him to get back to work.
Jiang Liu was speechless.
’I’m practically becoming a food-making tool for these people!’
He looked up at the blazing white sun and the customers drenched in sweat.
Jiang Liu decided he had to install a retractable awning over the storefront.
When it was hot, he could extend it to provide shade for everyone, and when it rained, it would offer shelter.
「Meanwhile.」
Lin Qiu and Jiang Dahai, carrying suitcases, traveled from their home in South City’s Wenxi County to the Yanhu District.
Right after getting off the long-distance bus, they immediately transferred to a city bus heading straight for Xueyuan Road.
Xueyuan Road was the major thoroughfare right next to Xinxiang City. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Yangzhai Street was a street off of Xueyuan Road.
It was also quite wide.
「5:10 p.m.」
Lin Qiu and Jiang Dahai had arrived on Yangzhai Street.
"Dahai, is this the place?"
"Don’t worry. I used to run all over South City every day, so I know it well. According to the address Jiang Liu gave us, this is it."
Lin Qiu felt relieved.
Just as they reached the small garden, before they got to the grapevine,
they saw a massive, dense crowd of people.
There were too many to count!
Lin Qiu and Jiang Dahai were both stunned.
’So many people?’
What kind of shop was this? The line at its entrance stretched a hundred meters, all the way to the building across the street.
"Dahai, what’s going on up ahead? Why are there so many people?"
"I don’t know. Maybe they’re giving something away for free?"
