Don't Lie to Your Therapist—She Already Knows Your Fate
Chapter 140 - 138: A Cliché Story Plot
Chaochao’s mother looked at Wen Ying with desperation. She had only one thought in her mind: to see her precious Chaochao.
So even if Doctor Wen was displeased, she had to speak up.
Doctor Wen had promised her, after all.
Wen Ying didn’t get angry. However, the man standing nearby, whose thoughts were clearly elsewhere, now walked over anxiously.
"If you want to see Chaochao, why come to a psychologist? Who is Chaochao? Where is she now?"
Already anxious, Chaochao’s mother’s anger went off the charts when she heard the man’s questions.
"What do my affairs have to do with you? It was bad enough that you followed me here, but now you want to pry into my business! You belong in a police station!"
The man froze. He realized he had been too hasty and hadn’t considered the consequences.
"I... I..."
"Doctor Wen, why can’t you make him leave?" Chaochao’s mother was on the verge of a breakdown. ’This man is a lunatic, and now he wants to interfere with my plans.’
"Because he’s my patient."
The man was utterly confused.
’What patient?’
’What’s wrong with me?’
’Since when was I a patient of this young psychologist?’
"Then I’ll come back after his session is over."
No matter how angry Chaochao’s mother got, she would never take it out on Wen Ying. But to her surprise, Wen Ying heard this and shook her head. "For his session, I need you to be here."
Chaochao’s mother looked at Wen Ying, shocked and bewildered. "Doctor Wen, I don’t know him. I really don’t know him!"
"I think he’s a con man, a human trafficker!"
The man was overcome with a strange feeling, but he kept silent.
’This psychologist seems to have a few tricks up her sleeve. Can she really read my mind with just a look?’
Wen Ying looked at the man, her voice gentle. "You think she looks like your long-lost little sister?"
The man stared at Wen Ying in astonishment. ’She actually guessed it?’
"You’re Doctor Wen?" The man had heard Chaochao’s mother say the name a few times, so he remembered it.
"You could tell I was looking for her because I thought she looked like my sister?" The man suddenly relaxed and smiled. "That’s right. Doctor Wen just said she could deduce things from people’s faces." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Then, Doctor Wen, do you think she’s my sister?"
His heart was filled with hope, but he also feared disappointment.
"Doesn’t Chaochao’s mother look remarkably similar to your maternal grandmother? That’s why, when you first saw her in the car, you were determined to find out if she was the sister your family lost long ago."
The man nodded. "It’s not just similar. She’s the spitting image of my grandmother when she was young. Like she was cast from the same mold."
Listening in confusion, Chaochao’s mother’s voice grew agitated. "I wasn’t lost! I had a father and a mother! They’ve passed away, but they were very good to me when they were alive, and I am their biological daughter! You have the wrong person! I’m not your sister!"
Chaochao’s mother was getting agitated.
The man looked at Chaochao’s mother, a little dejected. "Please don’t be upset. I just wanted to make sure."
Such feeble words couldn’t comfort Chaochao’s mother. She was clearly on the verge of collapse; too much had happened recently, and now she was facing this melodramatic soap opera plot.
’Why won’t the heavens leave me be?’
’Why does it have to torture me like this?’
’Wasn’t taking my Chaochao away enough?’
"Chaochao’s mother, if you want to see Chaochao, you will need his help." Wen Ying’s single sentence stunned both Chaochao’s mother and the man.
The man was even more confused. ’What does this have to do with me?’
’How could I help?’
’If I remember correctly, we don’t even know each other, do we?’
After hearing this, Chaochao’s mother froze for a moment, then reined in her emotions, her anger subsiding.
She trusted Doctor Wen.
"I’m sorry. I haven’t been in a good state of mind recently." Chaochao’s mother’s voice trembled as she apologized to the man.
"Is Chaochao your daughter?" the man asked curiously.
Chaochao’s mother nodded.
"Where is she now?" If he could help, he was willing to.
"Back in our hometown."
"Then why are you..." The man’s meaning was obvious, but he didn’t finish the question.
"Chaochao... she’s dead."
The man froze. He seemed to understand everything now. ’No wonder she’s so emotionally unstable.’
’After going through such an ordeal, I wouldn’t be able to hold it together either.’
The thought that Chaochao’s mother might really be his sister pained him. ’Has my sister suffered this much?’
"The dead can’t be brought back. I’m not good at comforting people, but I know we can’t see Chaochao. I hope you can come to terms with your loss and face reality."
"No! Doctor Wen can let me see Chaochao! And now she says you can help. So, are you willing to help?"
Chaochao’s mother interrupted him, asking anxiously.
"I’m willing, but I have no way to make a child who has passed away reappear before you. I don’t want to lie to you."
After speaking, the man looked at Doctor Wen. "Doctor Wen, what is going on here? If you’re making this up because you’re worried about her mental state, I can accept that. But you said you’d let her see her child. How is that possible? How can someone... who’s gone... come back? I don’t understand what method you’re using, Doctor Wen, but I imagine it must be something like hypnotism, right?"
The man did not approve of Wen Ying using such methods to deceive Chaochao’s mother.
’She can only truly move on if she faces reality.’
"You..." Chaochao’s mother didn’t know how to address the man. She wanted to tell him not to speak to Doctor Wen that way, but it seemed rude to address him without knowing his name.
For now, her mind was clear.
"My name is Qin Hanyun. You can call me Mr. Qin."
"Mr. Qin, Doctor Wen isn’t that kind of person. She would never lie to me, nor would she use some kind of hypnotism on me! I don’t know how to describe Doctor Wen’s abilities, but you’ll see soon enough. Doctor Wen is truly incredible. As long as you’re willing to help me, you’ll find out."
The man looked at Chaochao’s mother with a wry smile. "If you are my sister, then your name should be Qin Chaoyun."
"Mr. Qin, can you help me? Just name your price. Whatever I can do, I’ll do it!" Chaochao’s mother didn’t care about any Hanyun or Chaoyun; she just wanted to see her precious Chaochao.
Seeing her like this, the man understood. Unless he helped her get what she wanted, he wouldn’t make any progress with his own investigation.
"I can help you, but on one condition: can Doctor Wen really do it?"
Chaochao’s mother looked at Wen Ying. "Doctor Wen, what should I do?"
"Pay for the medicine." Wen Ying’s simple four words made Chaochao’s mother excited, but caused Qin Hanyun to frown.
’Isn’t she even going to bother making up a lie?’
’She’s just going straight to asking for money?’
"Doctor Wen, the matter with Chaochao before must have cost you a lot of money, right? I don’t have the means to pay you back right now, but I definitely will! For this one thousand, will this bracelet cover it?"
"No." To Wen Ying, getting paid was part of the process. This was a clinic, not a pawnshop.
