Don't Lie to Your Therapist—She Already Knows Your Fate
Chapter 142 - 140: The Truth Behind the Sister’s Disappearance
Qin Hanyun considered himself a composed man, but even he couldn’t stop himself from blurting out the question.
But no one gave him an answer.
Wen Ying gave Chaochao’s mother a list of things to buy. After hearing it, Chaochao’s mother left the clinic to go prepare them.
Now that he was alone with Wen Ying, Qin Hanyun finally voiced his doubts. "Doctor Wen, to have achieved so much at such a young age is truly remarkable."
Wen Ying simply smiled at Qin Hanyun.
"Doctor Wen, I have to ask, how do you plan on fulfilling Chaochao’s mother’s wish? Chaochao is dead, and you, of all people, should understand that the dead cannot be brought back to life, right? Why are you deceiving her? Can’t you see that Chaochao’s mother is already on the verge of a complete breakdown? She’s emotionally unstable and has developed psychological problems. Under these circumstances, if the outcome isn’t to her satisfaction, what do you think will be waiting for her?"
"Doctor Wen, do you have no regard for human life?"
The smile remained on Wen Ying’s lips as she looked at Qin Hanyun.
"Mr. Qin, you should be thanking me, shouldn’t you? Without my help, Chaochao’s mother would never have agreed to do the DNA test with you."
"Yes, I don’t deny that. I should thank you. But from my perspective, I don’t think you should be deceiving Chaochao’s mother. Facing reality is what she needs to do. By lying to her, you become my enemy."
Wen Ying looked at Qin Hanyun with a leisurely expression. "Mr. Qin, do you know how Chaochao’s mother got lost?"
"What do you mean?"
"You all believe her disappearance was an accident, don’t you? It’s why your parents have spent the rest of their lives blaming themselves. But what if her disappearance wasn’t an accident?"
Qin Hanyun didn’t know Wen Ying well, so he didn’t understand that her words implied Chaochao’s mother was indeed his sister.
At this moment, he just thought Doctor Wen was speaking hypothetically, or perhaps trying to change the subject to achieve some unknown goal.
"When my sister was lost, it was indeed because our family was careless and didn’t watch her properly." Qin Hanyun explained, but he had no desire to share the details with an outsider.
"Your sister got lost when she was a child while ’watching the sky gate’? The nanny said your sister was mischievous, ran off on her own, and she couldn’t catch up. She vanished in the blink of an eye, right?"
Qin Hanyun stared at Wen Ying, his expression dark.
"What if the nanny’s story was a lie?" Wen Ying continued.
Qin Hanyun thought of the nanny who had worked for their family for twenty years and shook his head. "She wouldn’t lie to us."
"Sigh. Being part of a wealthy family is so troublesome. This is also Chaochao’s mother’s misfortune. Why should a child have to bear the brunt of a rich family’s feuds?"
"What are you trying to say?" Qin Hanyun’s voice grew colder. He even dropped the polite address and just called her "you."
"I’m not trying to say anything. I just think it’s a pity, that’s all. To be separated from her biological parents for decades, only for them to still not know the truth of her disappearance... Don’t you think that’s a terrible injustice?" 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"Doctor Wen, what exactly are you getting at? Do you have any proof?"
’He understood now. Wen Ying was implying that his sister’s disappearance was orchestrated by someone behind the scenes, that she was deliberately taken away. The obvious goal was to strike a blow against his parents.’
’And his parents had indeed been devastated ever since. They later passed the family business on to him, but they lost a great deal in the process.’
Wen Ying shook her head, her expression serene. "What proof would I have? I’m just a psychologist. I can only make deductions based on your facial expressions, your words, and your actions."
Qin Hanyun was speechless.
’This young woman could spout such ridiculous nonsense without even batting an eye. He had to admit, on that level, he was no match for her.’
"If you have proof, I—"
"Will pay? You must not know my rules for consultation, right? One thousand for a session."
Qin Hanyun remembered what Wen Ying had said earlier—that he was her patient. ’So this is what she was waiting for.’
Qin Hanyun chuckled, scanned the QR code on the table, and transferred a thousand over.
"Fellow patient, since you are now my patient, as your dedicated doctor, I’m obligated to tell you what I’ve deduced. I hope you can recover soon."
Qin Hanyun was speechless again.
’She’s like a cosplayer acting out a character with schizophrenia.’
"I’ll take those auspicious words to heart, Doctor Wen. Please, tell me," Qin Hanyun said with a perfectly composed smile.
"Your sister’s disappearance was no accident. It was deliberate. I’m sure you have a good idea of who was competing with your parents for the family fortune, right? Too much time has passed, and a lot of evidence has vanished. But if you’re looking for a breakthrough, your family’s nanny is an excellent place to start."
"Sister Miao?" Qin Hanyun asked in disbelief.
"She’s worked for your family for twenty years. She’s practically family, it’s true. But at the end of the day, she isn’t."
"But my family treats her like one of our own. She gets bonuses, money, and gifts for every holiday. We even give her vacation time to go home and rest every year. She herself has said that she’s long considered us her family. She even saved my daughter’s life once. And she’s worked herself sick for our family’s sake several times." Qin Hanyun couldn’t believe that a person like that could be the main culprit behind his sister’s disappearance.
"You’re right. To her, your family is an excellent employer. The salary and benefits she gets from you are better than the market rate, so she is grateful. But what she wants more is to atone for the mistake she made back then. Although she wasn’t the mastermind, she was the one who told the other party about your sister’s whereabouts."
"But why would she do that?" Qin Hanyun couldn’t think of a reason.
"You think she sees you as family. But what if you put your family and her own family side-by-side? Who do you think she would choose?"
"You mean someone threatened her? They used her family to threaten her? So she was forced to do it?" Although the reason seemed plausible, Qin Hanyun still didn’t believe it.
For so many years, Sister Miao’s conduct in their home had earned the trust of everyone, including him.
"After your sister disappeared, did she happen to say she wasn’t feeling well and went home to rest for a while?"
Qin Hanyun admitted that he remembered this. At the time, Sister Miao had insisted it was her fault. Because she had been sick that day and hadn’t been there to look after the child, she felt responsible for the disappearance. She had even been suicidal at one point.
Fearing another tragedy, the family had simply given her time off.
’That time... it was about a month, wasn’t it?’
A month later, Sister Miao returned.
"After she went home that time, her family bought a new house and a new car in the city. Did she ever tell you that?"
Qin Hanyun shook his head.
"I know you don’t believe me. You can call her. Ask her if she still remembers your sister. If she replies that it was all her fault, that she wants to atone every day, and that she’ll kill herself if your sister isn’t found... well, you should be able to make your own judgment then, right?"
Right there in front of Wen Ying, Qin Hanyun dialed Sister Miao’s mobile number.
