Dragon Blood Saint Emperor
Chapter 114: The Curtain Falls
「Three days later.」
Three figures stood at the end of a three-hundred-li-long passage outside Blood Jade City!
They were Ye Wushuang, Ye Xuan, and Ye Rou!
The three stood together, gazing at the distant Blood Jade City. Beside them, three Divine Steeds neighed, their cries resounding to the Nine Heavens!
The matter in Blood Jade City was now settled. Within three days, the entire Luo Family had silently departed the city, and the remnants of the Ouyang Family had vanished overnight.
Now, in Blood Jade City, only the Ye Family remained!
Such a massive change was well within the expectations of the people of Blood Jade City. The city itself remained; it had simply changed masters. For them, it had little impact, serving only as a topic for idle gossip.
After a moment’s pause, Ye Wushuang turned his head and asked, "Father, have you truly made your decision?"
"I have," Ye Xuan confirmed with a nod. "You and your sister have grown up now. My heart is at ease. I wish to venture out into the world and find a true path for the Ye Family’s rise to power!"
With the contest for the City Lord position over, the Ye Family had become the sole hegemon of Blood Jade City, and he, Ye Xuan, was its rightful City Lord.
But he gave it up!
He handed the position of Patriarch, which Ye Xiong had schemed so painstakingly to obtain, over to Ye Xiao!
Not only that, but he also gave Ye Xiao the position of City Lord—a title everyone had been desperate to claim!
The events of the past few weeks had made him understand that titles like Patriarch and City Lord were worthless in the face of true, overwhelming power.
If the Ye Family truly wished to rise, they needed to become stronger. Otherwise, they were but a tiny speck of dust in the vastness of the world, liable to be swept away by the faintest breeze!
Ye Wushuang understood his father’s intentions. "I respect your decision, Father!" he replied.
Once a decision was made, as long as one believed it was right, then not even a mountain of bones could stand in their way!
This was the nature of Ye Xuan’s character!
Ye Wushuang was proud to have inherited this trait, and so, understanding his father completely, he did not try to stop him.
"Mm," Ye Xuan smiled faintly. He took a Jade Pendant from within his robes and handed it to Ye Wushuang. "After I leave, I don’t know when we will meet again. It is time I gave this to you."
"What is this?" Ye Wushuang asked, taking the pendant and examining it closely.
It was a milky-white, dragon-shaped Jade Pendant. It seemed unremarkable, save for one detail: one side was engraved with the word "Xuanyuan," while the reverse was inscribed with a Five-Clawed Golden Dragon!
The Five-Clawed Golden Dragon was so lifelike it seemed to have been sealed within the jade, exuding a supreme pressure that gave one the feeling it could shake the very heavens and earth.
"Xuanyuan?"
Ye Wushuang murmured the name. For some unknown reason, as he repeated the word to himself, he felt his blood begin to boil!
Ye Xuan explained, "This was with you when I found you. It might be a token left by your parents. I was afraid you might lose it back then, so I kept it safe for you. I’m giving it to you now in the hope that it might help you find your birth parents."
"I will!" Ye Wushuang looked at the dragon-shaped Jade Pendant and swore an oath in his heart. ’I must find my so-called birth parents and ask them why they were so heartless as to abandon me.’
’If Ye Xuan hadn’t raised me, what would my fate have been?’
’Carried off by wolves? Or would I have starved to death?’
Gazing at Ye Xuan, Ye Wushuang found himself blurting out, "No matter where I go, you will always be my father!"
Ye Xuan laughed with pride. "In this life, I am proud to have called you my son."
Though not father and son by blood, Ye Xuan’s affection for Ye Wushuang surpassed that of any biological parent. Few birth fathers, perhaps, could ever love a child as much as he did!
Finished speaking, Ye Xuan turned to the teary-eyed Ye Rou. "And one more thing," he said to Ye Wushuang. "Take good care of your sister. If I have wronged anyone, it is her."
"She is my life. I will!" Ye Wushuang promised, nodding emphatically.
"Dad, I’ll take care of myself! I won’t be a burden to Xiaoshuang!" Ye Rou cried.
Ye Xuan then turned his gaze to the endless road ahead. He let out a long breath and said, "It is time. You should go first."
"We’ll see you off," said Ye Wushuang.
"Very well!" Ye Xuan laughed heartily, vaulting onto his Divine Steed. He turned back to Ye Wushuang and said, "Shuang’er, on the path of Cultivation, the intentions of others are like hidden daggers—treacherous and unpredictable. You must not be careless!"
With those final words, Ye Xuan spurred his steed and rode away.
After a long time, once Ye Xuan’s figure had completely disappeared from view, Ye Wushuang turned to Ye Rou. "Sister, we should set off as well. The next time we see Father, we must not disappoint him!"
"Mm-hm!" Ye Rou wiped the tears from her eyes and mounted her Divine Steed.
"Sigh, I’ll never understand you humans!"
The Dragon Cat muttered to itself, then with a WHOOSH, it landed on the saddle in front of Ye Rou, and the three of them set off toward the Ancient Spirit Sect.
A day later, they finally arrived at the Ancient Spirit Sect.
Upon arriving at the Ancient Spirit Sect, Ye Wushuang suddenly remembered that Star Elder had told him to seek him out after his business was concluded. He hesitated for a moment, then decided not to return to Broken Sword Peak. He would first escort Ye Rou to Zixia Peak, and then go find Star Elder.
After a moment of silence, he said to Ye Rou, "Sister, I have a small errand to run. Let me take you to Zixia Peak first."
"If you have things to do, go do them. Zixia Peak is only a few steps from here, you don’t need to escort me," Ye Rou said with a faint smile.
"Relax, kid. With Lord Cat here to protect her, your sister will be perfectly fine." The Dragon Cat lay comfortably in Ye Rou’s arms, giving Ye Wushuang a smug look.
Ye Wushuang’s eyes narrowed. ’I don’t know what this fat cat is plotting,’ he thought. ’But as long as it stays with Ye Rou, it probably won’t cause any real trouble.’ The thought put him at ease.
"Fine! But if you dare cause any trouble, I’ll skin you alive!" Ye Wushuang warned, shooting the fat cat a glare.
"Relax, Lord Cat won’t. Now go on." The Dragon Cat’s eyes darted shiftily as it hurried Ye Wushuang along, its heart blooming with secret joy.
’Once Lord Cat gets to Zixia Peak, with my supreme charm and magnificent figure, all those beautiful girls will scream for me! GAGAGA! And when that happens... Lord Cat will seize the opportunity to plunder all the Spirit Medicine they have!’
The Dragon Cat thought to itself with glee.
Unaware of the cat’s little scheme, Ye Wushuang gave it one last glare before departing.
Fengtian Peak was not only the main peak but also the very core of the Ancient Spirit Sect. Only those with extraordinary status were permitted to enter; ordinary people could not even get close.
Ye Wushuang had already found out that Star Elder resided on Fengtian Peak. After leaving Ye Rou, he made his way to the foot of the mountain.
"Who goes there!" The moment Ye Wushuang set foot on Fengtian Peak, a sharp voice boomed through the air. A middle-aged man was seen walking on air before landing directly in front of him.
The man had dark skin and a tall, burly frame. He was suffused with a barbaric aura and appeared to be at the Fourth or Fifth Layer of the True Essence realm!
Ye Wushuang’s gaze hardened for an instant before relaxing. He immediately cupped his fist and said, "Disciple Ye Wushuang, here to see Star Elder!"
"Heh, do you have any idea who Star Elder is? How could a mere disciple at the Fifth Layer of the Qi Vortex realm like you possibly get an audience with him? How ridiculous."
The moment Ye Wushuang finished speaking, several mocking voices suddenly sounded in his ear.
