Dragon Blood Saint Emperor
Chapter 147: Storming the Lair
With Xie Yun dead, the Demon Blood Spider lost control. It instantly shrank and burrowed into the corpse’s chest, followed by a gruesome chewing sound.
The corpse immediately began to rot, starting from the chest!
Ye Wushuang stood to one side, frowning as he watched. ’Though this Demon Blood Spider has shrunk, its shell is tough. It’ll be hard to kill!’
With a WHOOSH, the Dragon Cat popped out from the side. "When a Demon Blood Spider loses its master’s control, it weakens," it said. "This is the perfect time to kill it."
Hearing this, Ye Wushuang raised a hand. A beam of Sword Light shot from his fingertips, striking at the Demon Blood Spider!
The Demon Blood Spider was annihilated, much to Ye Wushuang’s surprise. Moments ago, it had been as tough as Divine Iron, yet now it was so fragile.
"By the way, where did you run off to just now?" Ye Wushuang turned to look at the Dragon Cat. The creature had a habit of disappearing at the most critical moments.
The Dragon Cat said nonchalantly, "I didn’t go anywhere special. Just popped back to the Chaos Space for a bit."
Ye Wushuang paused, momentarily forgetting that the creature could freely enter and exit the Chaos Space.
After shooting the Dragon Cat a look, Ye Wushuang turned to head back to the Cangyun Secret Realm.
SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!
The Treasure-Seeking Rat’s head poked out from inside Ye Wushuang’s robes. It squeaked, and a wave of Spiritual Sense transmitted a childish voice into his mind: "I know a place with a big treasure! A really, really big treasure!"
"A big treasure?"
Ye Wushuang stopped in his tracks. He looked down at the Treasure-Seeking Rat and asked, "What kind of treasure?"
Hearing this, the Treasure-Seeking Rat’s eyes darted about as if searching for the right words. After a long moment, it said with great exaggeration, "A big, big, *really* big treasure!"
Ye Wushuang’s curiosity was piqued. ’What on earth could make a Treasure-Seeking Rat say "big" three times?’
"Treasure?"
The Dragon Cat’s ears twitched. It had overheard Ye Wushuang’s muttering and fixed its crafty eyes on the Treasure-Seeking Rat, which was so frightened that it immediately pulled its head back in.
Ye Wushuang shot the Dragon Cat a glare, and only then did it look away.
However, it kept glancing back every so often, its eyes darting around as if it were hatching a plan.
"Where is it?" Ye Wushuang asked. He was eager to witness the Treasure-Seeking Rat’s abilities for himself and see what this legendary "very, very big treasure" was.
"I’ll take you there now!" the Treasure-Seeking Rat said.
Ye Wushuang didn’t move. He decided to wait for Ye Rou and the other four first.
’Otherwise, they’ll probably worry if they come out and don’t see me!’
The Treasure-Seeking Rat didn’t press him, waiting quietly. Before long, the figures of Ye Rou and the other four came into view.
The five of them spotted Ye Wushuang as well and walked over.
Qiu Mo hurried forward and asked, "Did you find it?"
Ye Wushuang just smiled and pointed to the little head peeking out from his robes.
As all five looked over, the Treasure-Seeking Rat seemed to get scared and burrowed back into Ye Wushuang’s robes.
"This little fella is pretty shy!" Yang Qing’er laughed. She had been shocked when Qiu Mo told her about the Treasure-Seeking Rat.
To think a legendary creature was right in front of her—she felt incredibly lucky!
Ye Wushuang said, "This little one says it can lead me to a great treasure. Since we’re all here, let’s go check it out."
The five of them nodded in agreement.
Following the Treasure-Seeking Rat’s directions, the group of six traversed a withered forest and arrived at a cave.
"Is the treasure in this cave?" Ye Wushuang asked the Treasure-Seeking Rat, standing at the mouth of the cave.
"Not here," the Treasure-Seeking Rat said. "Follow me."
With that, the Treasure-Seeking Rat leaped from Ye Wushuang’s arms and led the way into the cave.
Ye Wushuang fell silent for a moment before turning to the five beside him. "Everyone, be careful in there."
With that said, Ye Wushuang stepped into the cave.
The other five, including the Dragon Cat, followed him into the cave.
「Half an hour later.」
The group of six people and one cat emerged beside a pool of water.
The pool was surrounded by a pile of large rocks, and the cave entrance was hidden behind a massive boulder. It would be nearly impossible to find without a careful search.
The group followed the Treasure-Seeking Rat away from the pool and out into the open.
The scene outside took them all by surprise. The sky was blanketed with thick Demon Clouds, Demon Qi surged violently, and waves of Demonic Light washed over everything!
On the ground below, blood-red halls stood in great numbers, scattered about like stars in a constellation, giving off a bloody and unsettling feeling!
Furthermore, the faint, metallic scent of blood hanging in the air made everyone frown.
"What is this place?" Ye Wushuang asked with a frown.
Jian Bufan’s expression turned grave as he scanned the scene. "If I’m not mistaken," he said in a low voice, "this is the main lair of the Demon Abyss, the number one Demon Dao power in the Endless Wilderness!"
"The main lair of the Demon Abyss?"
The faces of the others fell.
The Demon Abyss was the greatest Demon Dao power in the Endless Wilderness, even stronger than the Ancient Spirit Sect. Its experts were as numerous as trees in a forest, and it was said to be overseen by a powerhouse at the Yin Yang Realm!
The members of the Demon Abyss were infamous for their cruelty and ruthlessness.
They had unwittingly stumbled right into the sect’s main lair. A dark look crossed everyone’s face.
Seeing Ye Wushuang stop, the Treasure-Seeking Rat turned its head and squeaked, "What’s wrong?"
"The very, very big treasure you mentioned... it isn’t one of the Demon Abyss’s treasures, is it?"
Ye Wushuang’s expression grew grim.
The Treasure-Seeking Rat said hurriedly, "It’s not theirs! My grandpa brought it out of the Earth Palace. They don’t know about it at all."
Ye Wushuang asked doubtfully, "What is this Earth Palace?"
"I don’t know!" the Treasure-Seeking Rat replied. "Grandpa said the Earth Palace is big, big, *really* big! The great treasure is what he brought back from there. When he died, he said the treasure was also very, very big, and that it’s related to the Earth Palace. A lot of people were trying to steal it!"
"The Earth Palace?"
The more the Treasure-Seeking Rat spoke, the more confused Ye Wushuang became. ’Where did this Earth Palace suddenly come from?’
Still, judging by the little creature’s voice, it was just a child. It had probably only heard these things from its late grandfather.
Seeing that he wouldn’t get any more answers, Ye Wushuang gave up asking.
Seeing this, the Treasure-Seeking Rat said, "Don’t worry! I know the way, we won’t be discovered!"
"We won’t be discovered?"
Ye Wushuang shook his head. ’If the Demon Abyss really has a Yin Yang Realm expert, it won’t be long before they discover us.’
However, he was still incredibly curious about the "very, very big treasure" and the Earth Palace the rat kept mentioning. He immediately turned to Jian Bufan and said, "You all should head back. I’m going to follow it and take a look."
As he spoke, he gave a wry smile. ’Breaking into someone’s headquarters, only to go treasure hunting right under their noses... I must be one of a kind!’
’If I run into one of their powerhouses, I’ll probably be done for!’
"I’ll go with you. We can watch each other’s backs," Jian Bufan said after a moment’s thought.
"Since we’re already here, I’d like to see what it’s like to stroll through the lair of the number one Demon Dao power myself," Qiu Mo added with a grin.
"Xiaoshuang, I’m not leaving either," Ye Rou said resolutely.
The others also chose to stay with Ye Wushuang.
Ye Wushuang hesitated, then looked at the Treasure-Seeking Rat, who piped up, "Don’t worry, we won’t be discovered!"
After a moment of contemplation, Ye Wushuang gritted his teeth and agreed.
"Everyone, stay alert!" Ye Wushuang cautioned, before finally following the Treasure-Seeking Rat.
However, none of them noticed the glint in the Dragon Cat’s crafty eyes as it vanished from behind the group.
