Dragon Blood Saint Emperor
Chapter 233 - 234: Ruthless Extortion
Many eyes turned toward Ye Wushuang, the Lord Priest Pann Wu had mentioned.
In Pann Wu’s eyes, even the strongest disciples were not worthy.
Only Ye Wushuang was qualified to take the first step!
The expressions of Yang Dingtian, Ao Wuchang, and the other strongest disciples darkened. As the strongest disciples, they had always been admired and revered by all. Each one of them was proud. When had they ever suffered such a humiliation!
They were not qualified to take the first step!
Those words were like a slap across their faces.
But even though they were furious, they suppressed their anger for the moment.
Pann Wu was now terrifyingly powerful, as if possessed by a Giant Spirit God. He stood alone blocking the Celestial Ladder, his power countless times greater than before.
Ye Wushuang was taken aback and stared at Pann Wu as well.
He then turned to the Dragon Cat on his shoulder and asked, "What’s going on?"
The Dragon Cat said, "Go on over. I’ll explain as we go."
Ye Wushuang then called out to Dii Qingxue beside him, "Let’s go."
With that, he led the way.
The Dragon Cat began to explain from his shoulder, "Kid, you might not have guessed it, but long before Ancient Times, this Earth Palace was actually a training ground for the Giant Spirit Clan."
"The Giant Spirit Clan and the Barbarian God Race are both descendants of ’Pann.’ With their powerful physiques and mastery over the ways of power, they were born with Divine Power and were once the strongest overlords in the Grand Emperor Domain."
"However, because they were cursed by ’Heaven,’ both great races declined, and this training ground fell into ruin along with them."
"Later, a mysterious figure severed it from the Grand Emperor Domain, refined it into this Earth Palace, hid it within the Endless Wilderness, and turned it into the training ground for the major influences of the forest."
As the Dragon Cat explained, Ye Wushuang’s expression grew grim.
’Heaven!’
’He’d heard that word again.’
"What’s wrong?"
The Dragon Cat had noticed the change in Ye Wushuang’s expression.
Instead of answering, Ye Wushuang asked, "Dead Cat, how much do you know about ’Heaven’?"
"Not much!" the Dragon Cat said. "But I do know that the Chaos Heaven-Devouring Dragon cultivates by devouring ’Heaven.’ Gahaha, this Grand Emperor Domain has a ’Heaven’ too. I’d love to have a taste myself!"
’Cultivating by devouring "Heaven"!’
Hearing this, Ye Wushuang’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.
He knew from the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch that "Heaven" was utterly terrifying and couldn’t be killed. Only the Emperor had ever succeeded in slaying it.
’And this furball was actually claiming the Chaos Heaven-Devouring Dragon cultivated by devouring "Heaven," treating "Heaven" like some kind of Cultivation Resource.’
’And he wanted to devour "Heaven" himself! So easy for him to say!’
Seeing the Dragon Cat tilt its head back and lick its lips, Ye Wushuang’s face darkened even further. ’This furball’s bragging is so outrageous it could anger gods and men alike.’
"The hell’s with that look, kid? It’s just devouring ’Heaven’! Your Chaos Heaven-Devouring Dragon Body was born for it! I’m even jealous of you. Forget it, forget it. I can’t be bothered to explain it to you. You wouldn’t understand even if I did."
The Dragon Cat turned its head away and shut its mouth.
Ye Wushuang simply ignored the Dragon Cat’s "nonsense."
He didn’t believe "Heaven" was that fragile. Even a peerless master like the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch had been reduced to nothing but his lingering Dao Charm in the end. It was terrifying to even imagine!
The Breaking Realm Demon Monarch had made it clear to Ye Wushuang that the end of the world was nigh. If he didn’t grow stronger, he would be crushed like an ant—let alone achieve something as illusory as "Heaven-Devouring."
Ye Wushuang changed the subject. "By the way, who is this ’Pann’?"
"Some guy who split the heavens. You wouldn’t know him even if I told you. When you’re strong enough, you’ll find out naturally," the Dragon Cat said with a look of disdain, as if Ye Wushuang were a country bumpkin who knew nothing.
"Lord Priest!"
While the Dragon Cat was talking, Ye Wushuang had already arrived before the Ninefold Celestial Ladder.
From behind, a volley of cold glares followed him.
Ye Wushuang didn’t need to guess who they belonged to.
Ye Wushuang glanced at the Ninefold Celestial Ladder. Seeing nothing particularly special about it, he calmly stepped onto it.
"Kid, you go on ahead. I’ll come find you in a bit."
The Dragon Cat’s eyes darted about as it let out a sly cackle. In a flash, it disappeared from Ye Wushuang’s shoulder and landed on Pann Wu’s.
"Hey, big guy. Those people were just disrespectful to the Lord Priest, blasphemed the Barbarian God, and trampled on the dignity of the Giant Spirit Clan. You can’t let them off so easily. You have to punish them harshly."
The Dragon Cat muttered, its sly eyes fixed on Yang Dingtian and the others.
Pann Wu didn’t understand what the Dragon Cat was getting at. "They’re very strong. If we leave this place, I won’t be able to handle them on my own."
On the Ninefold Celestial Ladder, he was protected by the ancestors of the Giant Spirit Clan, causing his Combat Power to skyrocket. No one could do anything to him. But if he left the ladder, he couldn’t possibly handle so many of the strongest disciples.
The Dragon Cat said fiercely, "We don’t have to kill them, but we at least need to make them bleed. Your Lord Priest needs tons of Spirit Medicine. Those guys are carrying so much they can barely hold it all. You should show some mercy and help them out."
Hearing this, Pann Wu asked, "Does the Lord Priest really need Spirit Medicine?"
"Of course!"
The Dragon Cat said urgently, "He needs a lot. The more, the better!"
Pann Wu pointed out, "You’re drooling." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Am I?"
The Dragon Cat lifted a paw to wipe its mouth, saw the drool on it, then calmly wiped the paw on Pann Wu’s shoulder, utterly shameless!
Even Pann Wu’s face darkened.
"AHEM, AHEM!"
Watching Ye Wushuang walk up the Ninefold Celestial Ladder, the Dragon Cat cleared its throat and said, "Everyone, enter in an orderly fashion. You, and you lot, go in first."
The Dragon Cat pointed to the disciples of the Ancient Spirit Sect and Yunlan Ancient Teachings, not forgetting to wink at Yangg Qing’er, Ye Rou, and Qianling.
Those people looked at the Dragon Cat with strange expressions.
Ye Rou and the other two women thought for a moment, then looked toward Pann Wu.
Pann Wu nodded, and only then did they start after Ye Wushuang.
Seeing them go up, Mo Wentian, Yunn Xiao, and the other disciples who had previously sided with Ye Wushuang finally stepped forward.
Of course, this was all intentionally arranged by that little furball, the Dragon Cat.
This made the faces of the disciples from the Fiery Sun Sect, the Demon Abyss, the Feather Race, the Celestial Sword Sect, and other influences turn ugly. They wished they could flay the Dragon Cat alive.
This was blatant favoritism!
"Let’s go, too!"
They didn’t wait around. They would endure this for now. ’Once we get to the Divine Communication Tower,’ they swore to themselves, ’we will skin that Dragon Cat alive.’
"Hold on!"
Just as the group was about to step onto the Celestial Ladder, the Dragon Cat’s voice rang out again.
"Are you trying to stop us now?"
Murderous glares from the crowd focused on it.
The Dragon Cat said, "You can come in. I’m not stopping you."
"Hmph!"
Hearing this, the disciples snorted coldly and prepared to step onto the Celestial Ladder.
However, the Dragon Cat’s next sentence almost made them fly into a rage and cough up blood.
The Dragon Cat declared, "One Treasure Medicine per person. Hand it over to me. Otherwise, don’t even think about it."
"You’re courting death!"
Some disciples couldn’t take it anymore. One Treasure Medicine per person—this was blatant extortion!
"So what if I am? What are you going to do about it? Do you want in or not?" The Dragon Cat narrowed its eyes, its posture screaming, ’I’m the boss now, so sue me.’
"Damned beast, you dare extort us!"
A vicious glint appeared in the eyes of a Feather Race disciple at the True Essence Eighth Layer. He drew his bow, and a streak of light shot toward the Dragon Cat.
