Dragon Blood Saint Emperor
Chapter 51: Terrifying Desolate Beast
After Yunn Dao left, the other three shook their heads and followed him, making their stance clear.
None of them believed that the Divine Sense of someone merely in the Body Tempering Realm could possibly compare to theirs.
In fact, they found the idea utterly ridiculous!
Ye Wushuang’s brow furrowed slightly at Yunn Dao’s rude behavior, but he didn’t deign to argue. He simply followed along, though he made a mental note to be more cautious.
After a few minutes of walking without spotting any terrifying beasts, Yunn Dao couldn’t help but laugh smugly. He turned to Ye Wushuang and sneered, "Kid, you’ve only been here a day. We’ve been training in the Endless Wilderness for ages. Our experience is beyond what you can imagine. If there were any Desolate Beasts around, don’t you think we’d know..."
BOOM!
However, it was as if the heavens themselves were conspiring against him...
The very next second, his words still hanging in the air...
...a heaven-shaking roar abruptly echoed from the distance.
In an instant, the earth trembled and the mountains swayed.
A terrifying, colossal shadow, moving with the speed of a storm and sweeping everything aside, appeared within the range of their Divine Sense.
In that moment, the smile on Yunn Dao’s face froze. It was as if he had been brutally slapped; his cheeks burned. The look he gave Ye Wushuang was ashen and incredibly ugly.
"There really is something here!"
A few breaths later, the other three also got a clear look at the terrifying beast’s true form. It resembled a lion, standing four to five meters tall, its entire body covered in a layer of cyan Scale Armor that gave off a cold glint as it refracted the light. Its eyes, like a pair of bronze bells, glowed with a soul-stealing jade-green light.
"A Desolate Beast: the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion!"
Murong Ye announced the beast’s name. The others’ faces paled slightly as they simultaneously turned to stare at Ye Wushuang, their expressions a mixture of shock and disbelief. They couldn’t believe that they, with the Divine Sense of Qi Vortex Fifth Layer cultivators, had failed to detect it, while Ye Wushuang had succeeded. ’How did he do it?’
Ye Wushuang’s expression remained placid. He paid no mind to their stares, his attention fixed on the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion.
According to the *Desolate Beast Secret Manual*, Desolate Beasts, much like Demon Beasts, are divided into nine levels. The first three levels correspond to the Qi Vortex Realm, levels four through six correspond to the True Essence Realm, and levels seven through nine correspond to the Spiritual Spring Realm. Above them all are the Desolate Beast Kings, whose power is comparable to the Yin Yang and Nirvana Realms.
The Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion was a Second-Level Desolate Beast, comparable to a Cultivator at the Qi Vortex Seventh Layer. It possessed a pair of uncanny jade eyes, giving it the ability to track prey from a great distance. It would avoid powerful targets, but when it encountered weaker prey, it would move in for the kill with maximum speed.
That was why Yunn Dao and his companions hadn’t detected it. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Ye Wushuang, however, cultivated the Heaven-Devouring Dragon Technique, which granted him a Divine Sense far beyond that of an ordinary person, allowing him to detect the beast instantly.
Having operated in the Endless Wilderness for a long time, the members of the Hunting Team were naturally familiar with the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion. They quickly snapped out of their surprise.
"Time to get to work!"
Yunn Dao’s face was grim. With a thunderous roar, he hefted the Spiritual Artifact Great Saber from his shoulder, his eyes glaring with brutal intent. "Damned beast! I’ll slaughter you!"
Seeing Yunn Dao move, Murong Ye shot Ye Wushuang a strange glance before issuing orders. "This Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion is a Second-Level Desolate Beast. Yunn Dao and I will be the main assault. Ye Wushuang, Xi Jie, and Zuo Yi, you’re on flanking duty!"
"ROAR!"
Seeing the insignificant humans before it dare to resist, the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion let out a heaven-shaking roar. The resulting sound wave rolled outward, kicking up a terrifying gale that sent leaves spiraling through the air.
BOOM!
It charged forward recklessly, its frantic, tyrannical aura churning the air and destroying everything in its path. Any ordinary person would have been scared witless.
"Kill!"
The five of them were unafraid. With their roles assigned, they let out a unified battle cry and charged forward together.
Leading the main assault, Murong Ye brandished a grim longsword—a Fifth-Grade Spiritual Artifact that gleamed with a cold light. He slashed at the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion, unleashing a devastating storm of Sword Qi and Sword Light that could chill one to the soul.
Not to be outdone, Yunn Dao raised his great saber, which projected a blade of light half a meter long. He lifted it high before bringing it down in a powerful cleave, like a giant splitting the heavens. The unparalleled saber light slashed viciously toward the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion, tearing a gash in the very air.
ROAR! ROAR!
The ferocious glint in the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion’s eyes intensified. It stomped a foreleg, stepping onto the air itself, and the space beneath it shattered like a broken mirror. Its mountain-like body then charged toward the two men like a violent storm, ready to crush them. Even Ye Wushuang trembled at the sight of such destructive power.
"Stop it!"
Xi Jie and Zuo Yi shouted in unison, rushing to the flanks. One with a raised fist, the other with an open palm, they attacked with overwhelming and Vast True Qi.
In contrast, Ye Wushuang was left standing to one side, as if the others considered him a burden.
However, Ye Wushuang didn’t try to force his way in. He simply watched the battle with a frown, amazed at the group’s seamless teamwork.
’Such coordination wasn’t something you could develop in just a day or two.’
ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!
The Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion roared like thunder. Its body shuddered, its cyan Scale Armor flashed with an eerie light, and it unleashed a terrifying shockwave of energy that threw Xi Jie and Zuo Yi back.
At the same time, Yunn Dao brought his great saber down. The blade, wreathed in a three-to-four-meter aura of pure, destructive power, slammed viciously onto the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion’s body. CLANG! The sound of metal striking metal rang out, as if the blade had struck a piece of Divine Iron. A shower of brilliant red sparks exploded in the air, dazzlingly bright.
’What a tough body!’
Watching from a distance, Ye Wushuang’s eyes narrowed. He was stunned by the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion’s terrifying physical resilience.
Yunn Dao was at the Qi Vortex Fifth Layer. With the power of that terrifying saber light, Ye Wushuang was sure that even a Cultivator at the Qi Vortex Sixth Layer would have been cleaved in two. Yet, it hadn’t managed to harm the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion.
With a loud crash, Yunn Dao’s attack failed to inflict any real damage. The Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion rammed him with its side, sending him flying. He crashed heavily to the ground, gouging a large crater.
The Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion was also incredibly intelligent. Seeing Yunn Dao injured, it immediately charged, its massive body set to crush him and finish him off first.
"You’re courting death!"
Murong Ye’s gaze turned cold. His body shot forward a dozen meters like a coiled spring. Gripping the Spirit Sword, which pulsed with Spiritual Light, he stabbed down vertically from the sky.
The Spirit Sword was incredibly sharp, and empowered by Murong Ye’s formidable True Qi, it carried the terrifying power of Sword Dao Slaughter. With a wet SQUELCH, it plunged into the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion’s neck, and a column of blood sprayed out.
ROAR!
The Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion roared in pain. Its massive body writhed madly as it continued its charge toward Yunn Dao.
"This is bad!" Seeing this, the others’ faces changed. They knew if this continued, Yunn Dao would surely be crushed to death by the beast’s massive body.
"Quick, attack its eyes!" Murong Ye shouted frantically to Xi Jie and Zuo Yi, his sword still pinning the Frenzied Lion.
But the two of them were on the flanks and couldn’t get there in time. All they could do was watch anxiously. At this rate, even if Yunn Dao survived, he would be gravely injured.
"I’ll handle it."
The three words came from Ye Wushuang, who had been standing on the sidelines. His eyes glinted sharply, but his tone was indifferent. The others were overjoyed to hear the offer, but their smiles froze when they saw who had spoken.
Ye Wushuang paid their expressions no mind. With a SHING, he drew his sword, its cold light flashing. Moving with the speed of Floating Light and Shadow, he crossed the distance in the blink of an eye, cleverly circling around to the front of the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion.
’Die!’
He thrust the Ancient Sword forward at extreme speed. A streak of faint light bloomed in the air, and in that instant of chilling intent, with a SQUELCH, the Ancient Sword slyly and accurately pierced the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion’s right eye.
ROAR! ROAR!
Stabbed in the eye, the Jade-Eyed Frenzied Lion instantly lost its bearings and stumbled backward. Its own powerful momentum carried it onto a series of sharp tree stumps behind it, which impaled its massive body. Blood gushed out. It struggled a few times, then fell still, unable to rise again.
