Drawing Cards in the Middle Ages to Rise in Ranks
Chapter 827 - 51: The Might of the Demon Dragon
The dragon flames, like a pillar of light, crashed onto the barrier. The energy didn’t dissipate at all but was entirely neutralized by the shield upheld by the Holy Knights and Monks. Looking up into the sky, the figures of the Three-headed Demon Dragon had vanished without a trace.
In its place was a massive creature with dark red crown-like dragon horns atop its head, spreading its wings to overshadow the sky. It appeared even larger than the "Huerias" Land Cruiser. Despite its vast body, it didn’t seem cumbersome, possessing a fierce and majestic beauty.
The Three-headed Demon Dragon circled above the red-black Red-Black Dragon Losa had transformed into, feeling quite exhilarated: "Burn, destroy, spread the shadow of death! Let those mortals who do not revere True Dragons experience the power of our superior Dragon Species!"
Billowing smoke obscures the sky.
The intense dragon flames turned the whole world a dark red. Volcanic Divinity, like flowing magma, coursed through the gaps in the scales of the Red-Black Dragon, as he spread a rain of fire with the flap of his wings.
"Are you teaching me what to do?"
Even while breathing dragon flames, Losa still found the time to send a message: "Go burn down the enemy’s Land Cruiser! Dare to slack off, and kiss your promotion chances goodbye; you’ll remain a weak, insignificant young dragon all your life."
Though the frame of the Three-headed Demon Dragon was up to the standard of a common adult Giant Dragon, in reality, it was still only at the level of a young dragon. As a three-headed variant, its true adult size would be far beyond just over ten meters.
With the message delivered, the tremendous Dragon Mighty pressed down on the ground like an oppressive storm cloud in the sky.
Even the most unruly Fire Dragon Head dared not retort, and the three heads unusually reached a consensus without needing to discuss it, flying toward the Land Cruiser on the ground, which was targeting Losa with gunfire.
"Fire, keep firing!"
"Do not spare the ammunition; if not now, when that Demon Dragon comes to deal with us, there’ll be no chance left!"
On the Land Cruiser, Major James was trembling all over. When he first heard the news of the New Naples battle and the Expedition Army’s crushing defeat, he was full of indignation, believing it was the soldiers’ cowardice and the officers’ stupidity that led to such an outcome.
It’s just a Giant Dragon, isn’t it?
As a follower of the Steam and Machinery cult, Major James firmly believed: Anything with a physical form, flesh, and blood, should turn to ash before the cannons filled with White Crystal and Magic Stone.
If not, it indicates only that the cannon caliber is not large enough, their charge insufficient.
With a loud bang.
Three more White Crystal Bombs exploded on the surface of the Demon Dragon, but the outcome seemed as if it was unscathed. The enormous Demon Dragon didn’t even flinch from the shockwave of the exploding shells.
"By the Steam and Machinery God above, even Sea Monarchy’s 400mm main gun wouldn’t necessarily kill such a Demon Dragon, would it?"
The engineers and technicians on the Land Cruiser were beginning to feel desperate.
Yet, those Mexican soldiers following orders and continuously carrying ammunition still had complete faith in the mysterious and powerful War Machines. However, if they had any spare time to peek through the portholes to observe the situation, their confidence born of ignorance would burst like a soap bubble.
Just then, a message came through the communicator from "Saint Juan": "Activate the Magic Shield immediately, the enemy is above you!"
James’s expression changed drastically, shouting at the top of his lungs: "Above? Magic Shield, quick, activate the Magic Shield immediately!"
The next moment, the Huerias seemed to stumble into a sandstorm, the ship starting to shake violently, the thermometer on the wall skyrocketing until it shattered, turning the entire Land Cruiser into a giant oven.
"Quick, activate the Constant Temperature Array, shut down the external air circulation!"
Major James issued orders quickly, holding onto the nearby handrail tightly, with a hopeless thought in mind: "God bless, Steam and Machinery God bless, Feathered Serpent God bless... whoever, please save me!"
...
On the Saint Juan.
Major Nelson wore a face full of anxiety: "Quick, immediately redirect the cannon, the Huerias can’t hold out much longer."
The top plating of the Land Cruiser was already more vulnerable compared to the frontal armor. The green Dragon Flame spewed by the Demon Dragon had highly corrosive properties, and even the Land Cruiser armor fortified with Anti-Magic Metal would struggle to hold out for long.
"Major, use the Milo Bombs!"
Major Nelson’s expression hardened. Milo Bombs were developed by a Milo from Big Ben’s research institute, with an incredibly destructive power realized by near-critical levels of gunpowder—one slip, and the shell would explode in the barrel before being launched.
"Major, there’s no time to hesitate; after the Huerias meets its end, we’re next in line!"
Major Nelson clenched his fists: "Fine, use the Milo Bombs, but we can’t ensure a hit; it’s time for the Mexican Mages to help. Tell them, no matter the cost, they must hold that Demon Dragon!"
...
"Hahaha, what feeble attacks!"
The Three-headed Demon Dragon agilely dodged barrages from the cannons operated by Mexican soldiers. Even the British did not have professional anti-aircraft guns, let alone the Mexicans. Hitting the Three-headed Demon Dragon with such cannons was nearly impossible.
Even real anti-aircraft guns couldn’t be expected to directly hit an enemy object in the air—either relying on a high rate of fire to create a barrage or a wide explosion range for coverage.
The cannons used by the Mexicans were primarily outdated muzzle-loading smoothbore guns, and the calibers were generally too small. The few heavy guns capable of threatening the Three-headed Demon Dragon couldn’t hit it at all.
"Is this the extent of human weaponry? Hahaha, Lord Ladon is going to have a great slaughter!"
Compared to the arrogant Fire Dragon Head, the Cursed Dragon Head was more cautious: "Be careful, remember we were once killed by human weapons."
The Highly Poisonous Dragon Head sneered: "Heh, they only managed that because we had just awoken; otherwise, these human weapons couldn’t possibly hit the great King of the Sky!"
...
By this time, Porfirio no longer cared about the Land Cruiser for which he had paid a heavy price. The rapidly escalating high temperature hampered his very breath. The two Casters accompanying him were utterly at a loss in the face of such adversity.
Archbishop Michael appeared to be stupefied by the terror of the enemy, standing dumbly in his place, silently praying.
The shield composed of Holy Light grew increasingly fragile as the temperature continued to rise.
"God said, let there be light, and there was light."
"God said, let there be a firmament between the waters, thus there came to be sky and oceans."
