Chapter 87: Meeting Veronica and Alice

Once all the customers had been served, Ren and Elara went to the Aether Organization.

Shortly after they arrived, Cassandra took Ren to a magic store to sell the Flame Shield and Inferno Lance spell books.

They paid him $40,000 for them.

Since there was not a single Intermediate-rank lightning spell book available, he decided to buy two health potions.

Once they were done with their business, they returned to the organization.

"I still have a lot of work to do, so I can’t stay with you any longer. Come to my office if you need any help." After saying that, Cassandra left his private training ground.

"How much did they pay for these two spell books?" Lily asked curiously.

Ren raised four fingers. "$40,000."

"Wow! That’s a lot of money, Ren!" Lily stated. "You are so rich now!"

"Well, it’s still nothing compared to Zara." Ren quickly turned his head left and right. "By the way, where is she? Is she still not here yet?"

"She said she had family business, so she could not come today," Lily called Virelia earlier.

"I see." Ren finally knew why he didn’t see her. "How about we buy some games now. We can play them when we have free time."

"Good idea!" Lily and David said in unison.

Elara didn’t say anything, but she nodded enthusiastically.

Then, they went to a toy and game store together.

----

Time went by quickly and without realizing it, it was already 03:45 pm. At this moment, Ren and Elara were on their way to Sylvie’s coffee shop.

They went home earlier because Sylvie wanted to introduce his teacher to him.

While they were walking hand in hand, Sylvie was chatting with Veronica and Alice. Veronica brought Alice with her so that Alice could study together with Ren.

"He is an orphan?" Veronica was startled.

Sylvie said her student would pay her handsomely, so she thought he was from a wealthy family.

"Yes." Sylvie nodded slightly. "He is from the Silverleaf Orphanage."

"What kind of person is he?" Veronica wanted to know him from Sylvie’s point of view.

"He is a kind and easy-going young man. Don’t worry. You won’t have a hard time teaching him." Ren could always master anything she taught him quickly, so Sylvie knew he was a prodigy.

"For you to praise him like that... makes me want to meet him even sooner." Veronica’s curiosity suddenly grew stronger.

Just as Sylvie was about to say something, she noticed Ren and Elara. "It’s him. He has arrived."

Veronica and Alice turned to where Sylvie was looking. The moment their gaze fell on him, both of them were stunned.

’It’s him?’

It had never crossed their minds that the one who would be Veronica’s student was Ren.

While Alice was still in a state of shock, Veronica’s lips curled up into a smile. She had planned to meet him tomorrow, so the unexpected meeting pleased her greatly.

’It seems like we are destined to meet.’

She suddenly could not wait to get to know him better since Sylvie, Alice, and Ravenna had praised him so highly.

Like them, Ren and Elara were also startled.

However, the reason was entirely different.

Alice!

Yes, she was the reason.

They thought they would never meet her again, or at least not anytime soon. Never did they expect to meet her again, just a day after their spar.

’So, she is also her student?’

He tried his best to act normally, as first impressions were important.

After Ren and Elara sat on the chairs, Sylvie introduced Veronica to him. "Ren, she is your teacher, a powerful 6-star mage with a deep knowledge of the lightning element."

"Hello, teacher. I’m Ren." After introducing himself, Ren shifted his gaze to Alice. "We meet again."

Like Alice, there was no hatred in his heart.

He didn’t know why, but his instincts told him that she was just a mage who got dragged into his problem with Axel’s group.

"Hi." Alice felt relieved at his warm greeting.

They would be seeing each other often over the next month, so she was glad he didn’t hate her.

"I’ve heard quite a lot about you from Sylvie. It seems like everything she said about you was true." Veronica chose not to reveal her real identity, as this was the best decision.

Ren quickly turned to Sylvie.

"Don’t worry. I only told her good things about you. I didn’t tell her that you were a bit of a flirt." Sylvie teased him.

The corner of his lips twitched after hearing her words.

"Hehe." Veronica and the others giggled at his reaction.

"So, you want to know more about your lightning element so that you can create your own skills?" Veronica knew about this from Sylvie.

"Yes," Ren answered. "I awakened both paths, so it would be a pity if I didn’t take advantage of the uniqueness I possess."

Alice’s eyes widened in shock.

’What?! His own skills?’

She found it hard to believe what she was hearing.

Normally, only 8-star or 9-star awakeners would try to do that because it required immense effort, deep understanding, and a long time.

Yet here, Ren, someone who had become an awakener in less than six months, wanted to make his own skills.

Of course, she didn’t think that he would definitely fail.

She knew he was a special person.

It was just that she was shocked by his boldness and crazy ambition, nothing more than that.

’No wonder heaven chose him as someone special. He dares to dream big and is not afraid of obstacles. I must be like him. I won’t become a powerful mage if I don’t dare to take risks.’

A flame of passion burned within her.

"I don’t mean to stop you, but don’t you think it’s too early to do that? I think it would be better if you learned more magic or focused on your innate abilities first." Veronica knew how hard it was, as she had seen someone try it in the past.

"I will do both." Ren was already firm in his resolve. "I will keep learning more about magic and my innate abilities while trying to create my own skills."

"It seems like you have made up your mind." Veronica was amazed by his determination. "Very well. I will help you create powerful techniques that will make others think twice before causing trouble for you."

"Then, I will be in your care, teacher." Ren was thrilled.

From her expression, he could tell that she was serious about her words.

They continued talking.

Since it was their first meeting, Veronica didn’t teach him anything.

Instead, she used the opportunity for them to get to know each other better.

At 06:30 pm, Ren and Elara went home.

"Sylvie, did you tell him about my identity?" Veronica asked.

"No." Sylvie shook her head. "Why?"

"Don’t tell him. I want him to think of me as an ordinary mage." Veronica didn’t want his behavior to change.

She liked the way he treated her, as it had been a long time since anyone had behaved like that toward her.

"Have you forgotten that anyone can find out your identity from the internet?" Sylvie knew that Ren had bought a smartphone.

"Easy." Veronica knew how to handle it. "I can just pretend to be a twin sister."

"Don’t you think it’s a bad idea?" Sylvie believed Ren would be angry or disappointed if he knew the truth.

"Well, I just want to relax and be treated like an ordinary mage." Sometimes, Veronica missed the days when she was still a nobody.

Of course, she didn’t hate her status.

She just wanted to take a break from her duties, because her mind and body needed some rest, too.

"Alright." Sylvie agreed. "But I won’t interfere or help you if he finds out all your lies."

"Thanks." After saying that, Veronica turned to Alice. "Alice, don’t call me Leader when we are near him. Just call me teacher."

"Understood." Alice listened to her order.

Then, they continued talking.

At 07:00 pm, Veronica and Alice left.

----

Nexus Restaurant, VIP room.

Veronica was currently eating with Ravenna. They had dinner together because they needed to discuss something important.

"Ravenna, the person Sylvie asked me to teach is Ren," Veronica informed her.

Ravenna was startled. "By Ren, you mean that Ren?"

"Yes." Veronica nodded. "Fate is truly unpredictable, isn’t it? I never thought the one I wanted to meet would end up becoming my student."

"Aria would be furious if she knew about this," Ravenna stated.

"I’m sure she would." Veronica agreed with her.

"So, what kind of person is he?" Ravenna asked curiously.

"I still don’t know much about him, but during our first meeting, he was an interesting person," Veronica replied. "Sylvie also said he is a good and kind young man."

"How did he react when he found out his teacher was the leader of the Nexus Organization?" Veronica threw another question.

"He doesn’t know," Veronica replied. "He is not up to date with the news, so he thought I was just an ordinary, powerful mage."

"What?!" Ravenna said in surprise. "Did you not tell him about you?"

"No." Veronica shook her head. "It’s better if he doesn’t know who I am. This way, he will show me his real personality."

"But it’s still dangerous. Sooner or later, he will know your real identity." Ravenna believed this since it was easy to know about her.

All they needed to do was look her name up in a search engine, and all information about her would appear.

"Well, I will take care of it later," Veronica replied.
