They sat back in that armchair as Wu Long continued telling Hong Xinyi the story of what happened.

She sat in his lap with far more familiarity now, as if this was now truly her rightful place, but couldn’t help showing a slightly sulking look whenever she heard about a new woman joining his Dao Family as it reminded her of how long she had to wait for it to happen for her.

At the same time, an intense feeling of joy and relief welled up within her already crowded with emotions heart. This joy could not be suppressed by the other feelings, no matter if there were already a lot of them, all intense and many of them contradictory to each other.

It found its place alongside them, since it was a joy for him, happiness at hearing about his reunion, first with Ye Ling, then with Wu Mengqi, and finally with Liang Yuhan who she also knew about only under an alias of Lin Aihua until now.

Hong Xinyi remembered hearing those names a long time ago, and the look in his eyes when he recalled them.

Thus she couldn’t help but feel happy for him.

She was also constantly surprised and amazed as he was speaking about things neither of them could imagine in the past, whether that was him discovering and obtaining Dao Runes, or Luo Mingyu cultivating Dao Intent, Grandmist Keepsake, being able to control lightning of Heavenly Tribulation and even Heavenly Punishment, all of those were immensely, mind-blowingly shocking, and were it not for the fact it was Wu Long who told her about them, she wouldn’t have believed any of it.

In addition to being surprised by the profound mysteries of the Dual Extremes Infinite Union Art, she was fascinated by it, gulping at the thought of what it would feel like to have that kind of deep bond with Wu Long, and getting impatient just from imagining it.

However, when his story reached a certain point, she noticed that he spoke a bit slower, as if carefully choosing his words, and she soon learned why. As soon as she heard about Hong Ye and Hong Yue, intense, maddening fury blinded her vision to anything but insanity of uncontrollable rage, flying out of his embrace as she roared, "HOW DARE THEY?!?!!!!! That abomination of a ritual is still intact?! Who dared to preserve it?!"

Terrifying and thick killing intent exploded from her alongside an arrogance of ruler, ancient and powerful. Her eyes glowed blood red, as a ghostly aura appeared around her and filled the room, black mist swirling around her, forming vague forms of black skulls of various sizes, vaguely resembling the masks of the Bahshi assassins with the same sharp teeth with fangs and short horns as well as the shape of the skull, opening their empty jaws in soundless screams.

"They’re safe, Xinyi, I intervened before they could start the final part of the ritual and brought them with me", he spoke as he stood up chasing after her, his hands wrapping around her head from both sides as he turned her face up to look at him, caressing the sides of her face with the back of his fingers a few times, "I gave the ringleader Matriarch the Bahshi Hell of Ten Thousand Ghosts, the main Elders aiding her and those with executive power erased, the scrolls and jade slips destroyed"

The dark ghostly aura in the room gradually subsided as she listened to him, her eyes gradually regaining focus and sanity, as the red glow in them subsided to its normal less intense level.

She was still shivering with rage that she could not suppress, but now along with that rage, intense grief appeared in her eyes, as she asked in a nervous tone, "And the twins?"

He sighed, and leading her back, slowly told her all about them, which gradually soothed her worry. And then he told her about Hong Ye becoming his woman as well.

"Heh... what audacity, becoming your woman before her Supreme Demon Ghost", she then chuckled, causing Wu Long to wryly smile.

The absurdity of even a member of a broken off branch of her own organization entering his Dao Family before her made her finally break off from rage a bit as it amused her.

Hong Xinyi then paused, realizing he didn’t say that both of them were his women, just one, even though both were alive and well from what she heard about them before he told her about Hong Ye. She turned to him while raising her eyebrow, "And the other?"

"I’m working on that happening", he replied, causing her to drop her jaw in shock as she sat up straight.

"Y-You really did change... did you lose some of your skills?", Hong Xinyi looked him up and down.

He began laughing, shaking his head, "It turns out courting someone to have a real relationship with is not as easy as courting someone to sleep with, there’s far more things to consider as well, such as the right timing and healthy relationship in the future"

"My~ my~, what a sight~... to see the infamous God of Pleasure courting someone for over a year without success", she began giggling, her mood completely improving.

He smiled, "I seem to remember you weren’t that fond of me for the first few dozen thousand years we knew each other as well - granted we only met briefly nine separate times each lasting no longer than half an hour of that - but it did take quite a while for me to at least not be greeted with a dagger pointing at me in case I did anything even long after the ninth time when we mutually decided to bury the hatchet since you were out of attempts by your own organization’s rules, so taking a bit over a year is not that much in comparison"

"Well, I was there to kill you those nine times, of course I wasn’t fond of you", Hong Xinyi snorted with amusement, and leaned back onto him, his arms wrapping around her again as she continued while listening to the sound of his heart beating, "And it’s not like you were actively pursuing me romantically so it doesn’t count, I would hardly call nearly killing me multiple times a courting mood. If it wasn’t for Older Brother, I’d be dead by your hands at one of the multiple points starting with our fourth encounter onward, I can recall 57 times you nearly got me just off the top of my head, about half of those in the last fight"

"Hey hey hey, let’s not forget that I only survived by the skin of my teeth for the first three while completely helpless to counterattack even once", he decided to set the record straight since it sounded like it was only she who was in danger from him, "...and even from that fourth time we were pretty even on how many times each of us came close to dying - only I have double the number since I was alone against you and Xinan. Seriously, you two were so deadly I had to live on edge and train like crazy specifically for you"

"Since we’re recalling the past, that last part about training like crazy went for us too. So many failures against one person, for the most outstanding rookie Prime Demons in the entire Bahshi Assassination Group it is an incredibly big deal. It’s part of why they banned any other Bahshi Assassins from meddling with you - they decided you had to die by our hands to restore our perfect record", she replied, "And my point still stands, you never pursued me romantically even after our relationship did improve, so it doesn’t count"

"By the time our relationship improved to the extent something like courting would even come to my mind, I was too fond of you to start pursuing you, that I agree with", he nodded with a slightly introspective look in his eyes as he was able to look back at that time from a different perspective, "I’m merely pointing out the fact that a year is not that long of a time"

"It’s not if you have limited opportunities to meet, but a year of practically living together...", she grinned as she looked up at him, and seeing the surrendering look in his eyes giggled as she hugged him tighter, and after a bit of time in silence, asked while not raising her head from his chest in a completely different tone, "Wu Long... do you think... I mean... if you met Ye Ling and others again... Older Brother..."

She didn’t finish but he knew what she meant.

He knew that question was coming long ago, gently patting her head over her silky hair, and answering in a sincere tone after a sigh, "I don’t know, Xinyi. There were only two people who I knew from my previous life aside from Ling’er, Mengqi and Yuhan - one of them is the prince I told you about and the other is Butler Bang - neither one of them have memories from that life, and as I told you, the prince was more akin to an anomaly rather than an actual human judging from the irregularity in his Soul Sea... so I don’t know whether it is possible or going to happen..."

He then softly put his hands on her cheeks and made her rise a bit so he could look straight into her eyes, "But since it was possible for me with the involvement of someone like Fairy Xun who I told you about, perhaps when I get to her level there may be ways. What I can promise you, is that as long as there is a way, even if it is hard, I will find it and do everything in my power"

Hong Xinyi nodded, her eyes filling with warmth as she saw how solemnly he took this promise by the look in his eyes.

She only ever saw that look in his eyes when he promised her revenge for her brother against Old Man Bahshi. At that time Wu Long was nowhere near powerful or influential enough to even think about doing something like that, but eventually he fulfilled his promise.

It was not a guarantee because Wu Long did not know if it was possible for him even if he got to the level of Xun Yawen - since she told him she was not entirely responsible for what happened to him - and he didn’t want to give Hong Xinyi a promise he couldn’t keep. But it was more than enough to comfort Hong Xinyi as she leaned back onto him.
